Chapter 134, To the King's Station
Led by Lin Yu, the children finally boarded the Thestral carriage and were taken to the train station.
The route from the train station to Hogwarts Castle has long since changed, and the lake cruise ceremony is now just a ritual that new students need to go through.
Everyone started carrying their bags and bundles onto the train.
Lin Yu and Hermione also help people in the neighborhood.
Once most of the students had boarded the bus, it was time to depart.
With a whistle, the Hogwarts Express sped towards London, England, through thick smoke.
After all, this is still a steam train.
Inside the carriage, Lin Yu and Hermione sat side by side, with Neville and Seamus opposite them.
"Dean is right next door, but unfortunately there's not enough room for so many people," Neville muttered.
Actually, Dean gave up his position to him voluntarily, worried that Neville's personality wouldn't allow him to get along with others.
Lin Yu smiled and nodded, then added, "Tomorrow is Christmas. Is there anything you want for gifts? Why don't you just tell me, and I'll see if I can buy it for you at Diagon Alley."
Neville and Seamus exchanged a glance.
It's normal for friends to exchange gifts on Christmas Day.
However, they haven't decided what gift to give Lin Yu yet.
Simon couldn't help but say, "How about we don't exchange gifts this year? We can do it next year?"
Lin Yu was both amused and exasperated. What kind of terrible idea was this?
Does this mean we're not friends this year, but will become friends next year?
"Alright," Lin Yu didn't press the matter, then turned to Hermione and asked, "What did you prepare for Harry and the others?"
Hermione pursed her lips and said casually, "I got Ron some Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, and Harry some Chocolate Frogs. They seem to like them."
That's incredibly perfunctory.
But Lin Yu suddenly remembered something and said, "Chocolate Frog? Is it a Christmas gift of chocolates? Let's get something else."
Hermione blinked, then suddenly laughed: "You're jealous? Well then, I'll give Harry a serving of Beans of Flavor."
Neville and Seamus on the other side exchanged a glance, feeling that their presence was somewhat superfluous.
"I see there are still many empty carriages outside. After all, it's different from when school started; many people stayed at school. Why don't we find a carriage and play chess?" Seamus said to Neville.
Neville sensed something and stood up: "Okay."
So the two light bulbs finally left on their own.
However, Lin Yu and Hermione did not sit separately. Even though there were empty seats opposite them, they still squeezed together.
Hermione then asked Lin Yu, "And you? What gifts did you prepare for them?"
Without hesitation, Lin Yu said, "I tricked Malfoy out of a thousand Galleons before, so I'm planning to give Ron a flying broomstick. That way he won't keep coming to me. As for Harry, I don't think he's that keen on studying, so I'm planning to buy him some snacks."
Hermione, seemingly lost in thought, said to Lin Yu, "Let's forget about the flying broomstick. Ron is actually quite perceptive. Haven't you noticed that Harry, despite being wealthy, never flaunts it? I know you mean well, but be careful not to do something wrong. Unless you're also planning to give Harry a broomstick, it's best not to."
Lin Yu thought about it for a moment and felt that Hermione's idea was very mature.
Yes, the Weasleys are indeed a bit poor, and Ron often scavenges his brothers' leftovers.
From textbooks to wizard robes, even his wand and pet Scabbers were all found.
This inevitably made Ron feel a little inferior.
Suddenly giving him a flying broom might make him feel uncomfortable, especially if Harry doesn't have one.
This specialness doesn't always bring happiness.
Lin Yu couldn't help but reach out and pat Hermione's head, praising, "My Hermione is so smart."
Hermione laughed and replied, "Of course."
They also decided to send a gift jointly to Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore. Lin Yu decided to give them a thermos, since it was a gift for the elderly.
After a full day of travel, the train finally arrived at King's Cross Station near dusk.
The journey was relatively smooth; at least Draco and his gang didn't cause any trouble.
Perhaps they've learned their lesson and are too scared to do it again?
"We've finally arrived."
The children rushed out of the car.
No matter who you are, sitting in a hard seat all day will not leave you feeling good, either physically or emotionally.
Fortunately, Lin Yu and Hermione's bodies have now reached a state of transcendence, so they are still able to sit still.
The two followed the large group of students out of Platform 9¾, and then said goodbye to Neville and the others in front of the train station.
Many children were picked up by their parents, but Hermione's family was not there.
"I can't have the owl post office deliver the mail; after all, the Ministry of Magic has a confidentiality agreement," Hermione explained. "Besides, aren't you going to prepare gifts for them?"
"Shall we take a stroll around Diagon Alley first?" Lin Yu asked.
Hermione nodded, thinking it was a good idea.
So the two went to the side of the street and took out their wands, holding them in the air.
They already knew about the existence of the Knight Bus and how to call out to it.
This is a bus service specifically for wizards, introduced by Minister of Magic Dougd McPhee in 1865, modeled after the bus system in ordinary society.
A wizard can summon it simply by raising his wand on the street.
It will take you wherever you want to go, provided you can afford the ticket.
A moment later, a commotion was heard from the street, followed by a double-decker bus speeding towards the two of them with astonishing speed.
Lin Yu and Hermione stood there unmoved, absolutely confident that the impact of a mere car could not threaten them.
With a loud bang, the bus finally stopped in front of the two men, just millimeters from their noses.
The car door opened, and a young man said to the two, "Just extend the hand you usually hold your wand, get in the car, and we can take you wherever you want to go."
Lin Yu pulled Hermione into the car.
"My name is Stansampak, and I'm the ticket seller. Where are you going, you two lovely little wizards?" Stansampak introduced himself and noticed that they had no luggage, which made him feel relieved.
Lin Yu stated their destination: "Take us to the Leaky Cauldron Bar."
Stansampak exclaimed in surprise, "What are you doing there? You're still children, you can't drink alcohol yet. Besides, shouldn't you be Hogwarts students, on holiday?"
Hermione explained, "We're going to Diagon Alley to buy Christmas presents. Just take us there."
They started to think that Stansampard was talking too much.
Stanzan Parker shrugged and said, "Alright then, the fare is eleven silver sieves, but if you're willing to pay fourteen, you can get the chocolate."
"Thank you, but no need," Lin Yu readily took out one Galleon and five Silver Sikes.
One Galleon equals seventeen Silver Sickles, and the fare for two people is twenty-two Silver Sickles, which is just right.
