Being at Hogwarts, something's not right with this system.

04. Never underestimate a young person's potential.

In the backyard of the Leaky Cauldron, after learning about the Granger family's situation, the owner, Tom, decides to personally lead them to Diagon Alley.

After all, the Grangers were Muggles, ordinary people who didn't know magic, and they had never been exposed to anything related to magic in their lives before.

So even if they heard that the Leaky Cauldron leads to Diagon Alley, they wouldn't go there themselves.

Fortunately, Tom is a very nice person.

And so, Lin Yu followed the Granger family of three, the four of them following behind Tom, around the bar counter and out from the back, then around a well in the yard, to the side of a trash can.

Tom pulled his wand from his pocket and began counting the bricks on the back wall of the bar in front of him.

Finally, he counted three tiles up from the wall above the trash can, then two tiles horizontally, and tapped the wall three times with his wand.

The wall bricks began to move, receding one by one until a seemingly inconspicuous passage entrance was revealed.

"You can go in now. When you come back, you can knock on this spot on the other side. After all, you'll need to buy wands when you go to Diagon Alley, right? Or you could try Floo Powder? Maybe you don't know how to use it yet, so it's best to remember where you went in, so you don't go the wrong way or wander off," Tom rambled on for a while before leaving.

Mrs. Granger gripped little Hermione's hand with some concern.

Mr. Granger, on the other hand, seemed quite confident and unconvinced.

Lin Yu felt he should still give some instructions, saying, "The boss was right. We shouldn't wander around aimlessly once we're inside, because in any world, there are good people and bad people. Especially in Diagon Alley, there might be evil wizards."

He remembered that Diagon Alley connected to Flip-Over Alley, and the two "alleys" were actually adjacent.

However, the situations in these two places are vastly different.

If Diagon Alley is a commercial street bathed in sunlight...

Then, the overturned alley is like an underground world under the cover of darkness.

Almost everything sold there is contraband.

Therefore, most of the wizards who frequent that place are not good people, or they are mysterious people hiding huge secrets.

Mr. Granger then became serious.

But he was still muttering to himself, "Even if they're wizards, they can't just attack us like that, can they?"

Lin Yu thought for a moment and said, "I've heard of a magic spell that can make people forget everything, even their closest relatives, without their knowledge. So although wizards have their own laws, a wise person avoids dangerous situations, and we don't need to put ourselves in danger."

Mr. Granger nodded, then suddenly remembered that Lin Yu was actually the same age as his daughter, both eleven years old this year.

For some reason, he felt that the child was so mature, almost like a little adult.

Even he himself had unknowingly become the master of him.

Mr. Granger was ashamed; he was the adult.

At that moment, in an effort to regain his dignity and face as an adult, Mr. Granger said, "Next, we need to go to Gringotts to exchange some wizarding currency, I think it's called Gringotts? I remember that person (the Hogwarts staff member who delivered the acceptance letters) mentioned it. So, Lin Yu, how should I thank you?"

Lin Yu had already exchanged names with the Granger family on the way and had also specifically explained the correct way to address him by his name, which is why Mr. Granger was able to pronounce his name correctly.

Lin Yu shook his head and said, "Perhaps we should part ways here."

Lin Yu had his own plans, so he wanted to split up.

At the same time, Lin Yu turned to look at Hermione and said in a friendly manner, "Then, Miss Hermione, see you at school from now on."

Hermione looked at Lin Yu and said her first words to him since they met: "Until we meet again."

Hermione is actually very smart and has a reputation as a top student. Even after she arrived at Hogwarts, she was known for her intelligence and studiousness.

Even she felt pressured in front of Lin Yu, who had the mindset of an adult.

Lin Yu nodded, greeted the Granger family, and stood still, watching the three walk away.

As the Granger family of three walked further and further away, Lin Yu gritted his teeth and suddenly shouted, "Nalan Yanran, fortunes change every thirty years, never underestimate a young man's potential."

After shouting those words, Lin Yu turned and ran, his face flushed red with shame, while cursing inwardly, "Damn system, what have you made me do?"

Lin Yu also knew shame, which is why he wanted to separate from the Granger family.

Just kidding. Even though he shouted that in Chinese, what should he say if the Grangers ask him what it means?

Who is Nalan Yanran?

The Granger family of three heard Lin Yu's call, but when they turned around, they only saw Lin Yu's back as he fled in panic.

Mr. Granger shrugged and paid no further attention.

Hermione, however, watched Lin Yu's retreating figure thoughtfully, wondering, "Nalan Yanran? Was that calling me? And what does 'Don't underestimate a young man' mean? What language did he use just now? I think I understood it?"

Hermione Granger found it strange that she realized she shouldn't understand Chinese, but she somehow understood what Lin Yu meant.

Lin Yu is unaware that even though he deliberately used Chinese, he still managed to lose face.

He ran into a narrow alley next to a shop, leaned against the wall, panting, and asked the system in his mind, "How is it? Can I get the mission reward now? Oh, and exchange the spirit stones for gold. I need to exchange the gold for my first sum of money."

That was his real purpose. His original plan was to try to borrow money from Gringotts, but he was now essentially a blacklisted person, so it was uncertain whether he could successfully obtain a loan.

As for asking the Granger family for help...

Why should anyone help you?

Although going to Hogwarts is free, it should be free, right?

However, just buying all the various items needed for new students is a considerable expense.

Why should someone you've just met lend you money?

Therefore, Lin Yu still thought he had to rely on himself. Fortunately, he had the system, so there should always be a way out.

The system's voice announced: "Based on the detection, the host has completed the first stage of the 'Breakup Struggle' quest. Rewards are now being issued. The reward is the Chaotic Dao Body. Would you like to fuse with it now?"

Lin Yu frowned: "I don't care about the Chaos Dao Body right now. This isn't a fantasy world. Do you think I can actually cultivate immortality? Just give me the extra reward you promised me earlier. Exchange it all for gold."

The system paused for a moment before continuing, "As per the host's strong request, one hundred low-grade spirit stones should have been given as an extra reward, but now it has been changed to one hundred taels of gold. Please check your account."

Lin Yu was taken aback, sensing something was off. He subconsciously said, "Don't underestimate me just because I'm not well-educated. I've read plenty of fantasy novels. Aren't spirit stones more expensive than gold? How come one hundred low-grade spirit stones can only be exchanged for one hundred taels of gold?"

The system said quietly, "Precisely because gold is useless to cultivators, guess how much gold this system can mobilize now, given its limited permissions? I warn you, this hundred taels of gold is almost the last of our reserves. From now on, you will have to rely on your own efforts."
