Chapter 73 Fairy Broker

The next day, upon hearing that Bai Lin had arrived, Kaka also made a special trip to the island, bringing with him some assistants who would later help Bai Lin manage the island—a group of fairies, at least twenty in number.

This was the first time Bai Lin had ever seen so many goblins. In fact, apart from Gringotts, there were very few goblins living in wizarding communities. Unlike house-elves, goblins were usually on equal footing with human wizards in terms of personality, and they would cooperate with human wizards in some jobs. Some powerful goblins even hired human wizards as employees.

The fairies are energetic, meticulous, and skilled at raising magical creatures, making them perfect for managing the island.

Kaka enthusiastically introduced them to each other, but from Bai Lin's perspective, all the fairies looked the same. Except for the leader, a fairy named Patrice, whose clothes were obviously different and Bai Lin could tell the difference, the others had long names and wore similar clothes, so Bai Lin really couldn't tell them apart.

Kaka said, "Mr. Patrice is not only Mr. Kelling's right-hand man, but also one of the shareholders of the Magic Zoo. Many of the animals in the zoo were donated by him!"

Bai Lin thought to himself, "You really know how to do business. You get people to donate animals, invest in the company, and bring so many people to help manage it." But then he thought, "It's a good deal for the fairies too. They have to raise these animals anyway, so it doesn't matter where they raise them. They can even get the zoo's profits by bringing them here. Why not?"

Along with Kaka and his friends came a fire dragon that Ross had bought from the Patrice family, which aroused great interest among the children. However, Kaka was very interested in Catherine, who came with Bai Lin, and stared at her for a long time with a very strange look in his eyes.

The dragons that Patrice brought were all juveniles, the largest being only the size of a pony. They all wore muzzles to prevent them from breathing fire at will, and had chains around their necks and feet. They didn't look as fierce as dragons, but rather pitiful.

Among the fire dragons, there are three Welsh green dragons, which are relatively docile. The other two are a beautiful Australian pufferfish and a fierce Hungarian hornet dragon. Of all the fire dragons, the hornet dragon is the one that is particularly agitated and keeps ramming the iron cage.

"They are all beautiful animals," said Patrice, who looked quite old—perhaps all fairies have wrinkles and look old. "We will build separate habitats for them in the Dragon Zone, and I believe they will live well on the island!"

Bai Lin wholeheartedly agreed, but upon seeing the Hornet Dragon, he remembered that Harry's first opponent in the Triwizard Tournament was this kind of fire dragon. Since it was his student, Bai Lin was happy to lend a hand. He instructed Harry and Ron to help the goblins take the Hornet Dragon to its habitat and take care of it for the whole day. Ron was quite reluctant, but the thought of being able to go back and brag to Fred and George, who were taking care of the Blasttail, filled him with renewed energy.

"This white-eyed dragon is so beautiful!" Hermione exclaimed. The girls were clearly very interested in the white-eyed dragon, whose scales shimmered in the sunlight. Bai Lin then asked Hermione and Luna to take care of the Australian white-eyed dragon.

The other boys volunteered to transport the Welsh Green Dragon, and Neville took out a small notebook to record in detail his interactions with the Green Dragon.

"Um, Mr. Patras~" Bai Lin didn't seem to care much when he saw Kaka chatting with Catherine. He pulled Patras aside and asked, "Weren't the Nifflers brought along? Oh, I mean, Nivole?"

Patrice adjusted his glasses—most goblins wear tiny glasses like Dumbledore's—and said, "Nevre have always been the goblins' pets. I don't find them particularly attractive; in fact, they're quite likely to cause trouble, like stealing tourists' wallets or something... But since Mr. Ross and Mr. White insist... they'll be delivered this afternoon, six in total."

Bai Lin took out a notebook with a drawing of a Niffler on it. He pretended to be very academic and said, "It's like this, I've heard that there's a special kind of Niffler that's very sensitive to dark magic items. As you know, I'm a magical creature researcher, and I'm particularly interested in this special kind of individual..."

"Fifty Galleons, Mr. White," Patrice said. "I have a whole garden of Mudvoles, take your pick if you're interested." His tone was exactly like that of a business broker, and his casual pricing was typical of fairies.

"30 Galleons. I might buy some other animals for research purposes. I guess some of the more aggressive animals aren't on this list," Bai Lin said.

"As long as the price is right, yes, Mr. White, I won't let you down..." Patrice said, blinking.

Bai Lin suddenly realized that perhaps it wasn't Kaka who was good at business, but rather that the fairies were more shrewd in taking advantage of Ross in some way, without Ross and Kaka being aware of it.

Patrice didn't care why Whitescale was particularly interested in the Niffler, but he had heard about Whitescale's solo hunt of an adult Ironbelly. He wanted to recommend some less-than-cute magical creatures to Whitescale. These creatures were incredibly destructive and often ventured out of their habitats to attack Muggle villages. If Whitescale could solve his problems and he could spend some Galleons, Patrice felt it was a very worthwhile deal.

Kaka and Catherine finished their conversation. Kaka came over and praised Catherine's beauty and knowledge. Before leaving, he gave her a business card, which Catherine quickly threw away.

"I don't mind, after all, everyone likes a pretty girl like you~" Bai Lin walked to Catherine's side, and Catherine affectionately took his arm. The two of them were still a little unsatisfied with the romance of last night.

"He's very hostile towards me!" Catherine said. "He's practically digging into my weaknesses, and I have a strange feeling..."

"How does it feel?" Bai Lin asked, somewhat surprised.

"He's not interested in me, he's interested in you!" Catherine said decisively.

Bai Lin: "Oh my god..." Thinking of the charming smile Kaka occasionally gave him, Bai Lin felt a chill.

After arranging the students' tasks, Bai Lin and Catherine followed Patrice's people and Apparated to a mysterious place. Bai Lin thought to himself that he would definitely get a GPS when he had the chance. You wizards always like to Apparate me to unknown places.

This is a huge fairy farm nestled among the mountains, with fields planted with all kinds of colorful fruits and vegetables, and a pasture in the valley where many magical animals are frolicking.

A fairy led the two through farms and ridges to a small garden, which was not luxurious and had no living creatures in sight.
