Chapter 61: Determining Factions and Bai Lin's Birthday

"Since the Sun God is here to help you, I won't try to fool you anymore. If you're feeling lost about your future, why don't you tell me what kind of person you want to become?" The Night Mentor spoke in a relaxed tone, as if he had transformed into the old man from KFC, listening to your needs.

"I don't want to do evil, but I also don't want to be bound by the so-called wizarding laws... I crave power... but I don't want to hurt others in pursuit of power... I crave money... but I hope I can also maintain my bottom line... Do you understand what I mean?" Bai Lin stammered.

"Aha~" The Night Mentor danced with joy, flying wildly through the air as if he had gone mad. After a while, he stood back in front of Bai Lin and said, "You actually already had a choice. You wanted to join the chaotic good faction! You wanted to become a ranger!"

"A wandering knight?" Bai Lin felt the fog in front of him slowly fading away, and his path ahead seemed much clearer.

"Since you've chosen me as your soul mentor, I'm going to give you a special reward!" The Night Mentor grinned, but his expression was terrifying and sinister.

However, Bai Lin was not afraid of him; on the contrary, he was quite looking forward to it. He already had the answer in his heart. He didn't care what tasks the system gave him. As long as he knew in his heart what kind of person he wanted to become, that was the most important thing.

Bai Lin stretched out his hand, letting the Summoning Compendium lie in it, and said to the Night Mentor, "Could you create a realm within a realm for my Summoning Compendium, so that the creatures I seal in the future can live within it instead of being destroyed?"

The Night Mentor stared at Bai Lin's hands, his eyes gleaming with a chilling light. He finally saw what Bai Lin was holding: a thick ancient book with the emblem of the Sun God on it.

The Night Mentor said, "The gods have left behind miracles throughout the myriad realms, yet they rarely interfere with the inhabitants of those realms. Lucky boy, not only have you been noticed by the Sun God, but you have also obtained one of his treasures. You don't need my help; as long as your will is strong enough, this treasure will evolve according to your will!"

Bai Lin was taken aback. The Night Mentor waved his hand and said, "Go back, lucky lad, we'll meet again! Remember, when the sun no longer rises and the Outer Gods are about to invade, the protection of the wizarding world will depend on your Seeker family!"

Bai Lin felt a blur before his eyes, and his soul was sucked into the toilet again. In a flash, he was out of the magic orb. The words of the Night Mentor were still echoing in his ears, such as the sun no longer rising and the outer gods about to invade. Bai Lin couldn't understand them at all, but since he couldn't figure them out, he just took it as him making a fuss.

However, Bai Lin felt a weight in his hand. Upon closer inspection, he found a small booklet in his hand with a terrifying skull image engraved on the cover.

Bai Lin excitedly opened it, and wow, he was shocked to find it filled with dark magic spells. He quickly found the spell "Shadow Arrow Rain" that Moritz had used to deal with the Call of the Eagle Owl yesterday. In addition, there were various attack and curse spells, but they were quite different from the dark magic of the wizarding world.

Bai Lin picked up the magic orb again, but nothing happened. It seemed that the Night Mentor wasn't someone one could simply see at will. At that moment, the magic orb flew up from his hand on its own, entered an exquisite little box, and then, like a bird with wings, flew out the window. It seemed that Moritz already knew that Bai Lin had met the Night Mentor and had recalled the magic orb.

Bai Lin was looking at the magic book in his hand when he suddenly heard a flapping sound outside the window. He opened the curtains and saw a gray owl with black stripes fluttering back and forth outside the window, clutching a long gift box. Bai Lin opened the window, and the owl flew in and dropped the gift box on the carpet in the room.

Bai Lin put away the collection of dark magic spells and called Phineas in, asking him to look after the owl that delivered the message—according to etiquette and necessity, the recipient should give the owl a good meal. Phineas happily led the owl to find food.

Upon opening the gift box, Bai Lin discovered a Tang-style longsword inside, causing him to break out in a cold sweat. Along with the sword was a letter; upon opening it, he found it was from his adoptive father.

The letter, over a thousand words long, mostly advised Bai Lin to develop his career in Western countries, but reminded him to always remember that he was an Easterner and to uphold virtues such as benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trustworthiness. At the end, however, the letter wished him a happy birthday and entrusted him with the family heirloom sword, "Jade-Handled Dragon," hoping he would emulate Guo Ziyi of the Tang Dynasty, becoming a wise and capable prime minister and a valiant general. (The Jade-Handled Dragon is traditionally believed to be Guo Ziyi's sword.)

Bai Lin drew his sword. Although it was said to have been forged in the Tang Dynasty, nearly 1400 years ago, it still gleamed with a cold light, and the blade still shone with a faint chill. It was clearly no ordinary weapon. Moreover, the encyclopedia system had given him a hint:

[Obtain the famous sword "Jade-Handled Dragon," which increases strength by 20% when used.]

Bai Lin's mind was immediately filled with images of his parents from two different generations. He wondered how his parents in his original world were doing, and couldn't help but sigh slightly before putting away his sword.

However, such a large sword would look rather out of place if I weren't a wizard and didn't have a wizard's pouch to store it. Besides, it wouldn't pass through airport and train station security. But then I thought, I am a wizard, I don't need to take a plane, and the only train I take is the Hogwarts Express, which doesn't have any security checks.

Although Apparition is very convenient for wizards, Bai Lin has not yet fully mastered the spell (in fact, most wizards cannot or are not allowed to use Apparition, just like a driver's license in real life). However, intercontinental Apparition is still in the experimental stage in the entire wizarding world, so Bai Lin cannot instantly return to his hometown in the Eastern Town and reunite with his family.

Although he couldn't reunite with his family, Catherine was still waiting for him at Hogsmeade. Bai Lin felt a surge of warmth in his heart and summoned Phineas to book him an afternoon train ticket. He wanted to get back to Hogwarts before dark.

However, Phineas rubbed his hands together and said, "Um... my handsome master, Phineas can Apparate you directly to Hogsmeade!"

Bai Lin was taken aback, then couldn't help but chuckle. That's right, he could now have a butler. His trip to London had been incredibly fruitful: an offer from the director of a magical zoo, a house-elf butler, a book of dark magic spells, and a huge bag of gold coins—a full 4000 Galleons!

As Bai Lin disappeared from the hotel, on the other side of London, Moritz, holding a jet-black mentor orb, his face a mixture of emotions, said to the person beside him, "Come with me to Azkaban for training. He has already obtained the Dark Arts Book, and you are no match for him. Your chance will come when he and Voldemort are both severely weakened..."

Barnard sat beside Moritz, his voice trembling slightly, whether from excitement or anger, it was hard to tell: "Yes, Father!"
