Chapter 491 Brahma's Secret Realm
Bai Lin raised an eyebrow. He had always respected the beliefs of other civilizations in their gods. In the current cruel environment of fighting against the ancient gods, it was extremely rare to find someone with the power to organize a fight. He decided to go down and take a look. If needed, he would not mind helping out.
The forest within a radius of more than ten miles here has been polluted by the power of the ancient god. The trees look as if they have been doused with black oil, and the green has long been gone. Only that ancient tree remains evergreen.
This towering ancient tree is nearly fifty meters tall, a rare sight indeed. Its ancient branches spread out like a canopy, stretching for hundreds of meters. Various flowers and plants grow on its branches, creating a vibrant and thriving scene.
This should be an ancient Bodhi tree (Indian banyan tree). Countless roots hang down from the branches of the ancient tree, like vines, reaching the ground. Many ladders have been woven from them, and many wooden houses have been built on the thick branches. At a glance, there are hundreds of them, enough to house a whole village.
The ground beneath the ancient tree was densely packed with people of all skin colors, but they all looked pale and emaciated, probably having fled from all directions. In this day and age, being able to keep one's life was considered lucky.
At the outermost edge of the defensive array centered on the ancient tree, more than a hundred young monks stood ready, holding wooden staffs. Many of them were bandaged and seriously injured. Behind them, dozens of elderly monks sat on the ground, injecting some pale green magic into the defensive array.
Large-scale defensive arrays exist in many countries. Hogwarts has a very powerful defensive system with an extremely high magic utilization rate. A dozen or so wizards can maintain the array's operation. However, the array in front of us seems to require a much higher level of magic consumption.
The elderly monks were all withered and frail, looking as if they would burn out their life force at any moment.
Outside the defensive array, it was a chaotic scene. Tens of thousands of dark, deformed monsters surrounded the ancient tree array like a flood, constantly ramming their bodies against it, producing muffled sounds like bronze bells.
Bai Lin descended from the sky with a dazzling white light. The moment he landed, the overwhelming sword energy cleared the area within a radius of nearly a hundred meters. Those deformed monsters were like fallen leaves in a typhoon in front of the sword energy, blown hundreds of meters away, and were shredded into pieces by the wind blades before they even hit the ground.
Having just regained his footing, he raised his hand and swung his sword again, the sword energy sweeping away the deformed monster on the other side. To ordinary people, the scene was like Ultraman transforming to fight a dinosaur—it was a bit of a bullying.
"Brahma has appeared!"
Someone in the refugee crowd shouted something, and immediately all the refugees knelt down before Bai Lin, chanting the names of various gods.
"Hey, don't shout things like that. The difference between me and Shiva, Hanuman, Ganesha, and the like is just too big, isn't it?" Bai Lin couldn't help but complain.
The monks, greatly encouraged, fought bravely. Seeing that Bai Lin had cleared away a large number of monsters, they shouted and rushed out of the magic circle to fight the deformed monsters.
Bai Lin noticed that the young monks all had similar "armor-like" spells on their bodies, and their wooden staffs were flashing with various lights, making them quite capable of fighting against the deformed monsters.
After all, Hastur's power lies in the realm of spiritual corruption. If these monks had a firm faith in their hearts, they might have some resistance to the whispers of the ancient gods. This gave Bai Lin a slight feeling. In most parts of this world, people have long lost this kind of inner faith, which is why the destructive power of the ancient gods is so great.
Despite his feelings, Bai Lin didn't rest. He threw himself into the battlefield, and with his help, or rather, his cleanup, the deformed monsters around the ancient tree were wiped out in less than twenty minutes.
Amid the cheers of the monks and refugees, the old monks who were providing energy in the magic circle breathed a sigh of relief. Nearly half of them fell backward and fainted, probably because they had overexerted their magical energy.
Amidst the support of a group of monks, a boy who looked only thirteen or fourteen years old approached Bai Lin.
Bai Lin looked closely and saw that the child was wearing a coarse monk's robe. Although he was a boy, he had delicate features like a young girl. He was squinting his eyes, and Bai Lin wondered if he was blind.
This group of people were not afraid of the ancient god pollutants on the ground, or rather, the ground within a radius of several meters where the child had stepped was as if purified by the magic of order, and the black pollutants simply dissipated.
The children and monks walked up to Bai Lin and bowed to him in unison, chanting Buddhist mantras of some sect.
"Are you a living Buddha here?" Bai Lin had heard of legends about some sects having living Buddhas reincarnated, and judging from the situation in front of him, he was about 70 or 80 percent sure.
The boy smiled slightly but didn't speak. However, a gentle and clear voice immediately rang in Bai Lin's mind: "That's right... I don't know your language, so I can only communicate with you through thought..."
"Then can you understand what I'm saying?" Bai Lin felt a bit curious. He had heard about the various wonders of the living F, so he wasn't too surprised to see it today.
"Please come to the small temple for tea, we all want to thank you!" The boy's eyes gleamed as he continued speaking in Bai Lin's mind.
Bai Lin nodded and followed them, asking as they walked, "Is this some kind of order or mental magic?"
"A trivial skill, not worth mentioning..." the boy shook his head at him.
Wherever he went, the refugees prostrated themselves. The boy had the monks lead Bai Lin into the main hall, while he went to visit the old monk who had fainted. His hands occasionally flashed with a faint light, presumably as he was treating them.
The so-called main hall is located at the foot of an ancient tree. This ancient tree has a trunk diameter of nearly ten meters and a large tree hole in the center, in which a statue of a deity is enshrined. The main hall is built next to the tree trunk, and is actually only a few meters wider than the tree trunk. The main hall is covered with thick yellow cloth, and many monks and refugee children are sitting on the ground, chanting sutras around the statue of a deity in the tree hole.
A monk respectfully pushed a cushion towards Bai Lin and poured him a bowl of dark tea.
The refugees outside were whispering amongst themselves, but not noisily. Seeing their pitiful state, Bai Lin took out some biscuits and pastries from his magic pouch and had the monks distribute them to the refugees, which caused the crowd to cheer once again.
After finishing his work, the young man walked into the main hall, smiled slightly at Bai Lin, and sat down opposite him. Bai Lin could see that the young man's closed eyes were due to some kind of secret technique, not because he was blind.
"I heard that these monsters suffered a great setback in the east. I wonder if it was thanks to you?" the boy continued to ask in Bai Lin's mind.
Bai Lin was taken aback and couldn't help but feel a little nervous. This boy's mental magic was not simple; he might be able to see some information in his mind without him even realizing it.
"You don't need to worry. I can't see your memories, only fleeting glimpses and fragments. I'm just making some inferences based on the strength you displayed," the young man explained.
Bai Lin nodded and said, "With you here, those low-level monsters shouldn't pose a threat to the safety of this temple, right?"
The young man straightened his expression, a hint of worry in his eyes, and said, "I'm here guarding the Brahma Secret Realm, so I can't fight the monsters outside... and there's also Grakua..."
