Chapter 42 Unique Summoning Technique

The second set of the first half began quickly, with Bai Lin switching to the attacking side.

The earthen wall on the field had been restored to its original state, and the two stood facing each other again. Snape pursed his pale lips, his face solemn. This young man in front of him was clearly not someone to be trifled with; his magic was superb and he was full of cunning. How could such a person go to the honest and loyal Hufflepuff? Snape couldn't understand it even if he were beaten to death.

At Dumbledore's command, Bai Lin looked Snape up and down, twirling his wand in his hand like a high school student spinning a pen. His large, ambiguous eyes sent a chill down Snape's spine.

Finally, Bai Lin suddenly took action, making a strange gesture with his left hand (actually flipping through a summoning encyclopedia that others couldn't see), pointing his wand at Snape, and uttering a spell that Snape had never heard of before, and Snape couldn't even tell what language it was.

"Summon: Shadow Demon!" Bai Lin unleashed his newly learned summoning spell.

Dozens of black energies, like countless dark life forms, surged in from all directions. Snape quickly put on a set of "armor" to protect himself, but it was of no use. The black energy, like a spider web, wrapped around Snape's limbs without any hindrance, rendering him unable to move.

Bai Lin's current magical power is incomparable to when he was first reborn into the wizarding world. The effects of his magic have also been enhanced by more than a little bit. Now, Snape is standing there like a live target, letting him hit him. How could Bai Lin hold back? Snape looked at his hand holding the wand, which was gradually being numbed by black energy, and panicked.

However, despite his somewhat unpleasant personality, Snape was ultimately a resilient Order of the Phoenix spy who endured hardship and humiliation. He later helped Harry multiple times, even sacrificing his life. Bai Lin, not wanting to embarrass him, skipped over to him, pointed his wand at his hand, and walked away with a grin. The implication was clear: I can remove your weapon anytime!

"Believe me, this is the third time I've exclaimed 'My God' today! Mr. White used a dark magic technique I've never seen before. Anyone with eyes can recognize that the black magical energy was extremely powerful, directly subduing Professor Snape. Is Mr. White going to deliver the final blow?... Oh, Mr. White didn't continue his attack... Look, Mr. White has proposed a draw!" Jordan was practically beaming with delight at Snape's humiliation.

The students erupted in chaos, many bewildered as to why it was a draw. Dumbledore then announced, "We should respect Professor White's choice. The second half of the duel will now begin—a duel of self-created spells with no limits!"

"An unrestricted duel means that once the referee shouts 'The duel begins,' both sides can use any spells they create to attack each other according to the rules. Of course, we believe that the teachers know some dark magic purely for teaching and research, just like the Aurors, not evil dark wizards. However, an unrestricted duel will only end when one side has their wand knocked out or concedes defeat. There have been many cases in history where unrestricted duels have resulted in the immediate death of wizards... Of course, we believe that the teachers will go easy on them~" Jordan explained with great enthusiasm.

Snape looked at the smiling Bai Lin, his mind racing. Neither the armor nor the numerous obstacles were Bai Lin's own spells, and the dark magic Bai Lin had just used was also highly likely not his own creation—what kind of self-created skill could a young man barely in his twenties possess? Snape still harbored a touch of arrogance.

Since it was Bai Lin's turn, he gestured for Snape to stand closer to him. Snape reluctantly walked to a spot only ten meters away from her.

Dumbledore called out, "The duel begins!"

Just as Snape was about to utter a spell, he suddenly saw a huge black shadow in the sky, followed by a huge white werewolf nearly two meters tall descending from the sky. Only then did he hear Bai Lin utter the spell, a string of incoherent gibberish.

Being too close, Snape was clearly startled and was knocked to the ground by the snow wind. This is not to say that Snape was weaker than Antonin. If Snape's opponent were Antonin, he would probably use all his wisdom and ruthlessness. However, his opponent was a young man. If he were injured, people would laugh at him. If he injured his opponent, it would be bullying the weak. Therefore, he naturally wanted to strike first and was unwilling to make the first move, so he was a second slower.

"Summon: Shadow Fiend!"

Hearing Bai Lin repeat his old trick, Snape also recited a mumbled spell, and Xuefeng was immediately pushed aside. Snape used Xuefeng to block Bai Lin's view for a moment, and rolled on the spot in a sorry state, dodging most of the dark energy's binding threads. However, one of his legs was still hit, making him unable to dodge anymore.

Snape lay on the grass, sunlight hitting his eyes, but he gritted his teeth and quickly pointed his wand at Bai Lin. He was preparing to use a new spell that he had never used in front of anyone before, to send Bai Lin flying in one blow. He was about to unleash his trump card that he had been painstakingly researching for many years.

Just then, Bai Lin uttered a new spell. This new spell only had two syllables, but no one knew what it meant. Then, more than a dozen mandrakes fell from the sky and landed next to Snape.

A terrifying scream echoed through the sky, knocking over the students in the front row. Snape, who was closest to the student, was knocked unconscious.

Before everyone could recover from the shockwave, Dumbledore was so stunned that half of his tea spilled onto his beard. But then a student jumped out and shouted, "I'm reporting you! Mr. White cheated! His summoning spell violates the dueling rule that you can't rely on helpers!" It was none other than Malfoy, Snape's loyal follower, who had seen White use his summoning spell in the Magical Creatures Protection class.

Everyone quickly looked in Bai Lin's direction, only to see Bai Lin taking a soda bottle from Ron, a fanboy watching the battle, with Fred massaging his shoulders, sucking on a straw, looking completely dazed.

Harry quickly said, "The 'helpers' in the duel refer to other wizards, not magical creatures. Malfoy is making a false accusation!"

Malfoy watched as Dumbledore nodded in agreement with Harry's statement, then continued, "Then I report Mr. White for fouling! Those summoning spells weren't Mr. White's own creations!"

Bai Lin stood up and chuckled, "Although many wizards have spent years researching magical creatures, this summoning spell is indeed my invention. Even Master Newt (the protagonist of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them') only releases animals from a magical suitcase. My summoning spell doesn't require a magical suitcase beforehand. It's a talent, unique to me! If you can point out another wizard who also knows these spells, I'll concede defeat on the spot!"

From the stands, Catherine gazed tenderly at Bai Lin and cried out, "Darling, you're the best!"

Malfoy was instantly petrified; how could he possibly name any wizard who knew summoning magic?

"Ah, I wish I could have such a unique talent, and I wish my girlfriend could cheer me on from the sidelines! Well, it looks like Professor Snape can't stand up anymore, Mr. Dumbledore, shouldn't you announce the duel's result?" Jordan said excitedly, because he saw that Snape had dropped his wand and was lying motionless on the grass, covering his ears. The school nurse, Ms. Pomfrey, was rushing onto the stage, but she didn't seem to be in a hurry.

Dumbledore stood up, straightened his beard and robes, and said, "The contest is over! The winner is our teacher, Mr. Kaelin White, who will become our new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Let's give him a round of applause!"

The students cheered thunderously, even more enthusiastically than when watching the College Cup Quidditch match.

"I think we should add wizard duels to the regular competition. I think it has a great audience base!" Jordan muttered to himself.
