Chapter 26 Dangerous Black Magic

Bai Lin, his hands tucked into his robes, gripped his wand hidden in the lining of his robe and emerged from the darkness. Antonin clearly hadn't expected such a young wizard; he was probably only twenty. Antonin grinned maliciously, "You should have come out with your wand. At least you could have exchanged a few blows with me. I'll give you a good beating!"

This was Bai Lin's first time facing a Death Eater, and he initially wondered how difficult it could be. Could it be harder than facing Dementors? But standing opposite Antonin, Bai Lin sensed his killing intent and the dark energy emanating from Antonin that was in no way inferior to that of the Dementors. Bai Lin dared not underestimate him. He said, "As expected of Antonin Dolohov, a deeply hidden dark wizard, Voldemort's lackey!"

Antoning frowned. Just as Bai Lin had said, he usually hid it very well and had never let anyone see the Black Demon Mark on his left arm. Now that Bai Lin had exposed it, he was somewhat embarrassed and angry, saying, "Then I have no reason to let you go!"

Anton drew his wand and pointed it at Bai Lin, but Bai Lin was faster, pointing at his wand and shouting, "Expelliarmus!"

Bai Lin thought Antonin's wand would be knocked away, but he had clearly underestimated Antonin's strength, or rather, his vigilance. Upon closer inspection, he saw that Antonin had actually tied his wand to his arm with a leather belt.

Antonin's arm jerked, and he gripped the wand again, unleashing a curse at Bai Lin: "Avada Kedavra!"

Bai Lin felt a chill run down his spine. He clearly felt a sinister green energy emanating from Antonin, which condensed into a bolt of lightning through his wand and aimed directly at him. The legendary forbidden spell that no one could escape (except Harry Potter) was coming straight at his face. The chill and fear of death were even stronger than when facing a Dementor.

"Summon Mandrake!" Bai Lin couldn't think of any skills to resist the Avada Kedavra curse, so in desperation he summoned Mandrake.

More than a dozen mandrakes appeared out of thin air and blocked Bai Lin's way, but before they could even scream, they were struck by the energy of the Avada Kedavra curse and instantly turned into ashes.

Bai Lin dared not delay any longer and plunged into the darkness beside him. For a powerful Death Eater like Antonin, using the three forbidden spells was as easy as eating and drinking. If one attack missed, he would immediately follow up with another. How could Bai Lin dare to remain an open target for him?

Anton Ning chuckled and followed closely behind, but just as he followed Bai Lin into the darkness, a huge white wolf appeared before him.

Antonin's skills far surpassed those of ordinary, physically weak wizards. He dodged Xuefeng's pounce by sidestepping and then unleashed a Cruciatus Curse. Poor Xuefeng hadn't even had time to recover before being struck by the Cruciatus Curse, collapsing to the ground in pain and being killed almost instantly.

Bai Lin unleashed a powerful "Petrify All!" spell from afar, but Antonin completely ignored this tried-and-true method used against dark creatures in the wild. He laughed, "I've received the blessing of the Holy Serpent Nagini; your clumsy, low-level spell won't harm me!"

Catherine, who had been hiding nearby, could no longer contain herself. She burst out of the darkness and unleashed a spell on Antonin: "Opagono! (Rapid Fire)!" Instantly, hundreds of colorful birds appeared in the air—sparrows, larks, crows—and they rained down on Antonin like magic projectiles. Antonin was immediately surrounded by a swarm of noisy birds and became flustered. This spell, completely ineffective against many dark creatures, was surprisingly effective against human wizards.

Catherine pressed her advantage, aiming at Antonin's wrist and shouting, "Serkerthom Serpra!" Serpra is actually a type of dark magic, a spell invented by Snape in his early years, but it couldn't be published in a paper, so many wizards learned it. In reality, it's just a wind blade. Although it's dark magic, it's not listed as a forbidden spell.

Antonin was caught off guard and barely dodged the invisible blade that severed his right hand, but the blade still cut the leather belt on his wrist.

Without further ado, Bai Lin drew his longsword and shouted at Antonin's right hand, "Disarm me!"

Antonin's wand was finally knocked away, but Antonin also took the opportunity to roll away from the birds' attack. The effect of the barrage of bullets could only last for a few seconds, and the birds scattered and disappeared.

Bai Lin, still reeling from the blow to the wand, was startled when Antonin pulled another wand from his pocket, pointed it at Catherine, and roared, "Avada Kedavra..."

Bai Lin was utterly horrified, his eyes wide with fury. He desperately hurled his longsword, and at the last second, it pierced Antonin's chest. Before the Avada Kedavra curse could be finished, Antonin coughed up blood. Before he could say anything, Catherine had already pointed at his mouth and shouted, "Gag!"

An invisible force sealed Antonin's mouth, preventing him from uttering another word.

The Death Eaters were far too dangerous. Bai Lin rushed forward, grabbed Qingbo's sword hilt, and twisted it, finally sealing Antoning's fate.

Bai Lin received a prompt from the encyclopedia system:

[Successfully completed the first Death Eater kill, Hogwarts contribution points +200, current contribution points 400. Each subsequent kill of a Dementor or Death Eater will award 100 contribution points.]

Bai Lin sat on the ground, panting, his eyes meeting Catherine's. What he thought was a sure kill had turned into a near-annihilation for them. Catherine had even escaped death herself; if they had been a second later, the outcome would likely have been very different.

When I read the books before, I always thought the Wizarding World was so lowbrow. I thought the Killing Curse was just like a gun—it kills if it hits. But when I actually faced it, Bai Lin realized it wasn't like that at all.

First, as long as a bullet doesn't hit a vital organ, there's still a good chance of survival, but even a hit to the finger from the Killing Curse will cause a painful death. Second, bullets can be defended against by wearing helmets and bulletproof vests, but the Killing Curse is almost impossible to defend against, except for Harry, who has the protagonist's halo. Third, wizards' eyes have the ability to track and lock onto targets, which means that all Death Eaters are sharpshooters, making it very difficult to dodge the Killing Curse.

In summary, these three points demonstrate that the dark magic power that terrifies everyone in this magical world is indeed terrifying.

The Heart-Piercing Curse nearly killed Xuefeng, and neither healing spells, resurrection spells, nor basic healing spells were effective against it. In the end, Bai Lin had no choice but to recall Xuefeng to the system. At this time, the back of the encyclopedia showed: [Summoned Beast: White Werewolf - Xuefeng (Level 3), CD 02:59:59]. It seems that Xuefeng, as a summoned beast, also needs the system to eliminate the effects of the Heart-Piercing Curse for 3 hours.
