Humans in All Heavens: Starting with Detective Dee

Chapter 15 Fang Qian is arrested

"Yuanfang, immediately take men and capture Fang Qian and the others."

"Yes, sir."

The matter is now clear: the words of the villagers of Daliushu could not bring down a prefect.

But the words of the county magistrates under the governor carry more weight.

With Zhao Chuanchen's testimony, it would be a logical step to arrest Fang Qian and the others.

Upon hearing this, Li Yuanfang immediately led his men to the governor's mansion.

Wu Garden was not far from the governor's mansion.

Although Di Renjie was furious because of Fang Qian's actions.

But the testimony he received from Zhao Chuanchen brought him some comfort.

"Di Chun." Di Renjie then looked at Zhou Yi.

"grown ups."

"Take twenty guards from the Imperial Envoy's Guard and seize all the people from Tianbao Bank."

Don't let any of them escape.

"Yes, sir."

Zhou Yi accepted the order and left.

Watching the two of them leave separately.

At this moment, the most anxious person on the scene was none other than Hu Jinghui.

Seeing that Zhao Chuanchen had spoken smoothly, Di Renjie obtained evidence of Fang Qian's crimes.

They even sent Li Yuanfang to capture him, but he couldn't do anything about it.

Moreover, Zhou Yi also went to collect money from the people at Tianbao Bank.

Zhao Chuanchen had just intended to mention Tianbao Bank.

When he saw the character "天" (heaven), he wanted to shoot a shadowless needle to assassinate Zhao Chuanchen, but unfortunately, Zhou Yi coughed.

This drew everyone's attention.

The change in their positions meant that someone could see his every move, which made him hesitant to use the invisible needle in his chest to assassinate anyone.

He was very anxious inside, but he couldn't show it on his face at all.

He wanted to do something, but he couldn't even do something like tipping someone off. Di Renjie sent the other two people out, but kept him by his side.

This made him extremely depressed.

Just then, Di Renjie looked at him: "Jinghui, have the Thousand Bull Guards who went to capture Wang Jinbao and the others returned?"

"My lord, you have returned."

They are now waiting in the side hall, and the interrogation has already begun.

Hu Jinghui cupped his hands in greeting.

"Okay, let's go take a look."

Immediately afterwards, Di Renjie led General Hu toward the side hall.

"Sir? This is the list they provided."

Upon seeing Di Renjie enter, an official from the Imperial Guard immediately stepped forward and handed him a piece of paper.

The imperial envoy's guard consisted not only of guards, but also of a set of officials.

These are the officials who just interrogated Wang Jinbao and others who were arrested.

Wang Jinbao and others were all people in the Five Cities Military Command of the Youzhou army, under the command of Fang Qian and others.

Wang Xiaoer, who survived at the North Gate, revealed the identities of Wang Jinbao and others, and was subsequently arrested by Di Renjie.

Upon seeing the names on the list, Di Renjie was instantly shocked: "Fang Qian's control over the army is so tight."

"Not good! Jinghui... you must immediately take your men and bring the army under control."

Hopefully, Yuanfang can still catch him before Fang Qian, in his desperation, issues orders to rebel.

"Yes, sir." Hu Jinghui finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

As long as he can leave Di Renjie's side, he will have the opportunity to tip him off.

Di Renjie had no choice; at the moment, Hu Jinghui was the only one he could rely on.

He believed that as long as Hu Jinghui's identity was not exposed to his face, he would not rebel in person.

Seeing Hu Jinghui leave with the Imperial Envoy's Guard and the Thousand Bull Guard, Di Renjie was anxious and paced back and forth.

We can only hope that it's not too late.

Fifteen minutes later, as he was pacing back and forth in the lobby, he heard a series of hurried footsteps outside.

His eyes lit up immediately, and he quickly walked to the door and looked outside.

"My lord, I'm back."

He looked up and saw Li Yuanfang. Behind Li Yuanfang were Fang Qian, the governor of Youzhou, and Sima Wu Yizhi, who were being escorted.

"Yuanfang, how is the situation?" Di Renjie asked impatiently as Li Yuanfang approached.

"My lord, the situation has taken a turn for the worse. I led men into the governor's mansion and captured Fang Qian, Wu Yizhi, and others."

Just as they were about to bring them to Wu Garden, several assassins suddenly appeared out of nowhere, attempting to kill the two of them.

After a fierce battle, that man was killed by me, and his men were also killed by me.

I intended to capture him alive.

The man turned out to be extremely fierce and refused to yield even unto death.

"There's no other way but to kill him," Li Yuanfang said, stepping forward and bowing.

Di Renjie glanced at the two men being held captive behind Li Yuanfang: "The army has also been taken over by these two traitors. They didn't have time to rebel, did they?"

"Rest assured, sir, I was quick. Fang Qian was trying to send Wu Yizhi to the Five Cities Military Command to incite a rebellion, but he was captured."

Upon hearing this, Di Renjie finally breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Li Yuanfang with a smile.

"Good, good, Yuanfang, you did a great job!"

"You flatter me, sir."

Then Di Renjie's gaze fell on Fang Qian and Wu Yizhi. The two men trembled as soon as he looked at them.

Before they could even ask each other a question, the two men knelt down on the ground with a thud.

"Lord Fang, now that things have come to this, I think there is no need for me to find any more evidence to prove that you withheld the compensation money and forcibly confiscated the land of the villagers of Daliushu."

Did this lead to a rebellion caused by officials forcing the people to revolt?

"My lord, my lord, spare our lives, spare our lives!" The two knelt on the ground, weeping and begging Di Renjie to spare their lives.

Although they knew the chances of survival were slim, who would want to die if they could live? Neither of them were the type to die rather than submit, so they both begged for mercy.

"Alright, Lord Fang, now that things have come to this, you should be fully aware of your crimes."

Do you think you can survive?

Having said that, Fang Qian could only stand there, speechless.

"However, I can make your death easier and spare you from torture."

If you can tell me everything.

"I..." Just as Fang Qian was about to say something, another series of hurried footsteps came from outside.

It turned out that Zhou Yi had led a group of people in from outside.

"master."

"Di Chun? How is the situation?"

"Sir, we arrived too late. By the time we got to Tianbao Bank, the owner and all the employees had already been killed."

The younger one examined their bodies; they were still warm.

He must have been killed not long ago.
