The Primordial Era: Starting with Jingwei Filling the Sea

Chapter 172 Preaching in the Underworld

Fang Yang raised his hand and copied fourteen copies of the prison code, distributing them to Daoist Qian Yao and the others. The actual investigation was naturally left to his junior brothers; he was only responsible for overseeing the overall operation and assigning tasks.

He took in Daoist Qianyao and the others simply to have them handle trivial matters. Otherwise, how could he expect Daoist Qianyao and the others to help him suppress Daoist Duobao?

Before long, Daoist Qianyao and the others had finished reading the prison manual in their hands. After learning about the various things in the eighteen levels of hell, the immortals breathed a sigh of relief.

The underworld felt that the problem was due to a flaw in their rules.

The ghosts above are unwilling to change the rules, and the ghosts below have no authority to do so. This results in the underworld's power being misused.

In this world, if you strive in the wrong direction, you will drift further and further away from your goal.

This made things much easier. They had obtained the authority granted by the Goddess Houtu, and as long as they modified the rules of the eighteen levels of hell, they could easily make room for them.

Fang Yang's gaze swept over the crowd, his expression authoritative without being angry.

"The matter of the eighteen levels of hell is merely the tip of the iceberg of the chaos in the underworld. The chaos in the underworld ultimately stems from a problem of education. Without education, the ghosts in the underworld fear reincarnation and give up on themselves, while the gods of the underworld lack the ability to govern and are powerless to deal with various situations. We are the orthodox sect of Xuanmen, bearing the heavy responsibility of educating all living beings. We should set up altars in the underworld to preach and spread the teachings to the ghosts."

Qianyao Daojun rose and cupped his hands: "What Senior Brother says is absolutely right. We are willing to obey Senior Brother's orders and spread the great law of our Jie Sect in the Underworld."

Although the other immortals remained silent, their eyes gleamed with a restless light.

The teachings of the Jie Sect should not only spread in the human realm, but also flourish in the heavenly realm and the underworld. Only in this way can it be considered truly a teaching that is accessible to all.

Fang Yang nodded slightly, then shook his head: "While preaching is important, the wrongful convictions in Hell also need to be addressed. Junior Brother Qian Yao, you will be in charge of re-examining the wrongful convictions in Hell and restoring justice to those wronged souls trapped there."

These wronged souls are actually easy to appease; they have their own ideals and principles. As long as they are given fairness and justice, their resentment will naturally dissipate.

Upon hearing this, Daoist Qianyao nodded emphatically.

"Don't worry, senior brother. Wrongful convictions and miscarriages of justice occur in the underworld because the laws of the underworld are incomplete. When I review the cases, I will reorganize the laws of the underworld and compile a completely new and mature set of rules for hell. However, I am worried that the Great Emperor of Fengdu will reject the new rules for hell."

However, he was somewhat uneasy about the Emperor of Fengdu. The Emperor of Fengdu came from the Jiuli tribe, and the laws of the underworld were copied from the Wu tribe. Given the Emperor of Fengdu's devout faith in the Twelve Ancestral Witches, there was a high probability that he would cause trouble for the Ten Kings of Hell regarding the new rules of hell.

The people of the Jiuli tribe are fearless. Even if the three religions of Humanity, Chan, and Jie join forces, they will still fight.

"No need to worry. Once the matter of the eighteen levels of hell is resolved, the Earth Goddess will naturally issue a decree approving the new rules we have formulated. Junior brother, please do your work with peace of mind. Your elder brother and Master will not forget your merits."

"yes!"

With Fang Yang's assurance, Daoist Qianyao felt as if he had taken a reassuring pill and was completely at ease.

Fang Yang assigned the tasks, and Qian Yao Daojun and the others began their operations.

Fang Yang did not forget his promise to Ksitigarbha Daojun. He instructed Kan Yao Daojun to select six hundred trillion Western evil spirits from the hellish demons and send them to the Plain of the Unjustly Dead.

I believe that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva will be extremely grateful to Fang Yang.

As for the others, they went to various parts of the underworld to spread their teachings and, incidentally, slay the demons and monsters that were causing trouble in their respective areas.

Demons exist in the mortal realm, and so do they in the underworld; in fact, the demons of the underworld are far more terrifying than those of the mortal realm. The environment of the underworld is perfect for demons and ghosts to grow.

In particular, after the souls of the dead perish, they transform into ghosts such as Ni, Xi, Yi, and Wei. Each time they die, they become further and further away from living beings, eventually losing their living characteristics and becoming intangible and formless entities such as resentment and malevolent energy.

If a ghost dies too many times, it becomes a microcosm and can even combine with the laws of the underworld to become a law-based monster that even immortals cannot kill.

These demons and monsters are also one of the sources of chaos in the underworld.

Kan Yao Daojun accepted the order and left. In less than half an incense stick's time, he had already selected six hundred trillion Western evil ghosts from the eighteen levels of hell, as instructed by Fang Yang.

He held a Soul-Gathering Pearl in his hand, and with a sweep of its light, many evil spirits were drawn into it.

On the plains of the unjustly deceased, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is leading his disciples of the Western Sect in chanting scriptures to deliver the souls of the wronged.

It must be admitted that Western religions are very skilled at performing rituals to deliver the souls of the dead. Golden swastikas rose up and filled the void, their golden light shining on the wronged souls, easily dissolving their resentment.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva truly possesses a compassionate heart. Upon seeing the wronged souls trapped by resentment and unable to find release, he put aside the matter of the eighteen levels of hell. A mighty heavenly dragon stretched across the sky, and every scale of the dragon emitted the sound of scriptures.

The chanting, centered on Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, continuously spread into the void of the underworld. In every instant, countless wronged souls were liberated.

Pilanpo was also helping wronged souls find peace, but her cultivation was far inferior to that of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Her speed of deliverance was nowhere near that of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and other disciples of the Western Sect, such as Pilanpo, are well aware that no matter how many souls they perform rituals to help them find peace, they will not gain any merit.

This is because their Western religion owes two debts to the Heavenly Dao. Since these debts haven't been repaid, the Heavenly Dao cannot bestow merit upon them; even the merits bestowed upon them by the Earthly Dao will be intercepted by the Heavenly Dao.

Even so, they did not slack off.

The two Western Saints once made a vow to save all living beings, and now is the time for them to fulfill their vow.

When Daoist Kanyao arrived, he saw the Western Sect disciples diligently trying to save the wronged souls. Seeing this, he did not disturb them, but instead presented the Soul Gathering Pearl to Daoist Ksitigarbha.

If the disciples of the Western Sect have such a broad vision, how can he, as a disciple of the Jie Sect, be outdone?

While Daoist Kanyao was sending hellish demons to Daoist Ksitigarbha, Fang Yang arrived at the Palace of Forgetfulness. He came to the Palace of Forgetfulness to retrieve the Water of Forgetfulness.

In the Hall of Forgetfulness, Meng Po sat before a large bronze cauldron. Beneath the cauldron, the Nine Netherworld Flames flickered slightly, and the fragrant Meng Po soup boiled within. Meng Po waved her hand, sending the Meng Po soup into the reincarnation branch halls of the myriad realms.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!"

Upon seeing Meng Po, Fang Yang immediately bowed in respect.

Meng Po didn't look up; she stared at the Meng Po soup in the cauldron: "You've come to collect the Water of Forgetfulness?"

The Water of Oblivion is the main ingredient in Meng Po's Soup, but the two are very different. Meng Po's Soup only makes ghosts lose their memories, while the Water of Oblivion erases all of a ghost's memories.

Fang Yang's intention was to completely erase the memories of the hellish demons from their past lives, turning them into pure souls.

Fang Yang bowed slightly: "Indeed, I hope Your Majesty will grant my request!"

Meng Po did not refuse. She flicked her finger, and a drop of the Water of Oblivion flew out, landing in front of Fang Yang. Seeing this, Fang Yang dared not underestimate it. He squeezed out the Yin-Yang Gourd and put the Water of Oblivion inside.

He knew that when someone of Houtu Niangniang's caliber made a move, it couldn't be just a single drop!

Sure enough, after the drop of Forgetfulness Water entered the Yin-Yang Two Elements Gourd, it transformed into a river flowing with Forgetfulness Water.
