Chapter 178 Let the Player Travel Back in Time

Rick and Nitro-Boost King continued their journey.

Wandering around, stopping here and there, admiring the mountains and rivers, occasionally having a drink at a roadside tavern, listening to the locals tell their true and false legends, life was quite pleasant.

Until they met another person in a small town.

Minos.

The three players met for the first time.

The atmosphere seemed a bit awkward. Although everyone was a time traveler, Rick and Nitrogen Acceleration King didn't know Minos before. After all, YGGDRASIL had millions of players, so how could they know everyone?

However, it's always a warm and friendly meeting between people from the same hometown.

The three sat down in the tavern, ordered a few drinks, and started chatting.

"You were a minotaur before?" Nitrogen Acceleration King looked Minos up and down. "And now you're human?"

Minos nodded: "He was transformed by another player. He has the [Seed of the World Tree], which can change races."

"Why change?" Nitrogen Accelerator King asked, puzzled. "The Minotaur is so cool, over two meters tall, with horns, so imposing."

Minos gave a wry smile: "You've traveled for so long, haven't you heard about the plight of the minotaurs in this world?"

Nitrogen Accelerator King was stunned for a moment, then realized what was happening.

Minotaur — a cannibalistic race — exterminated by Inbeli Achi —

"Got it." He picked up his glass and took a sip. "You really can't survive without changing."

Rick didn't answer; he was more concerned about something else: "Who is this player you're talking about?"

"Emperor Leylin of the Inberia Empire," Minos lowered his voice, "I think he's a player too."

Rick and Nitrogen Acceleration King exchanged a glance.

They had met Kino and heard a lot from her about time travelers: the Six Great Gods, the Eight Desire Kings, and the aftershocks of the past century. But Kino never mentioned that her father was also a player.

But thinking about it, it makes sense.

The things His Majesty the God-King did were more outrageous than the last; it would be strange if he weren't a player.

"He's also looking for a way back," Minos said. "He said he'd let me know when he found one."

Nitrogen Accelerator King's eyes lit up.

Just then, a golden light flashed.

All three people tensed up at the same time.

As the light faded, a figure appeared before them.

Young, blond, with iridescent eyes, dressed casually, he looked like an ordinary young man.

But all three of them knew that the person in front of them was the God-King.

Minos immediately stood up and gestured to the two people beside him: "This is the one I was just talking about, His Majesty the Emperor of Inberia, Leylin."

Rick and Nitrogen Acceleration King also stood up.

Leylin glanced at them and cut to the chase: "I've found a way to get home. Do you want to give it a try?"

The three of them were stunned at the same time.

Minos exclaimed incredulously, "Just a few months ago you said there was no way—"

"Now we have it," Leylin said calmly.

Nitrogen Accelerator King was the first to react, his voice trembling with excitement: "What method? I'll do anything to get me back!"

Lei Lin waved his hand: "No need to do anything. This method is theoretically feasible. If you want to try it, you can do it now."

Nitrogen Accelerator King nodded repeatedly: "Try! Of course we'll try!"

Lei Lin said no more.

He raised his hand, clenched his fist, and punched the empty space beside him.

The space shattered like glass, cracking layer by layer, forming a circular hole about the height of a person. Beyond the hole, another world could be vaguely seen.

Rick stared at the empty space, his brow furrowing. "This is a portal spell? It doesn't seem like it, and besides—who creates a portal with their fist?"

Leylin didn't explain, and stepped inside.

Nitrogen Accelerator King hesitated for only a second before following.

Minos and Rick exchanged a glance and quickly followed.

As they passed through the crack, the sight before them stunned them all.

The sky was golden, but not in a glaring way; rather, it was a warm, gentle gold, as if it had been bathed in sunlight.

In the distance, a magnificent palace, too grand to describe, floats above the clouds. Its pillars are thicker than any mountain peak, and its doors are so high that one has to look up to see the top.

Rick stood there, stunned, for a long while before he managed to speak: "This is... Asgard? We're back in the game?"

This is Asgard, one of the nine worlds in the game, the home of the gods.

They actually got back into the game world?

Minos also realized what was happening and looked at Leylin: "You—opened a passage from that world to here?"

Leylin stood to the side, observing their reactions. Once they had calmed down a bit, he spoke up: "Try it, see if your game panels are back?"

The three of them quickly brought up the control panel.

Then they saw the numbers, icons, and options that had disappeared for months reappear before their eyes.

Furthermore, the exit game button is lit up.

The familiar interface, the familiar buttons.

Exit the game.

Right there.

The three of them stared at the button, their breathing becoming rapid.

"Wait a minute," Leylin's voice rang out, "Just a heads-up, the game has been shut down. If you log out now, you'll never be able to log back in."

The three people froze at the same time.

Minos's finger froze in mid-air, trembling slightly.

He recalled that world, that highly cyberpunk world, where he was at the bottom of society, exploited, ignored, and living like a machine.

Although he only stayed in this world for a few months, he was now free.

Minos stared at the button, raising and lowering his finger repeatedly.

By exiting, he can return to his original world, where his family and everything he knows are.

But it also means that he has to leave this world that he has just adapted to and begun to like, and return to that highly cyberpunk, cold and oppressive life at the bottom of society.

His hand finally fell to his sides.

Rick also looked at the button, but there was no struggle on his face.

He had no thoughts about his original world; there were no relatives or friends there, only endless overtime and oppression.

Although he only stayed in this world for a few months, he received more than he had in the previous decades combined.

He had no reason to press the button.

He never intended to go back; there was nothing in that world worth his lingering for.

But the Nitrogen Accelerator King is different.

His hand remained raised, not lowered.

"I still want to go back," he said, his voice soft but firm. "That world may not be as wonderful as this one, but my family is there, and I must go find them."

Rick looked at him, opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end he just nodded.

"Then let's go back," he said, patting Nitro Boost King on the shoulder. "Remember to send a message to our friends, saying that I, Rick, have traveled through time, and that we'll meet again someday."

Nitrogen Accelerator Wang nodded emphatically.

At this moment, Minos suddenly spoke up: "Brother, can I ask you for a favor?"

Nitrogen Accelerator King looked at him.

"I still have a relative in that world—" he said, his voice somewhat hoarse.

"I—I don't want to go back, but I can't let her go. You're rich, a second-generation rich kid. Could you go check on her for me, look after her, please?"

Minos gave an address and a name.

After listening, Nitrogen Accelerator King nodded: "I'll remember. I'll definitely do this little thing."

Minos bowed deeply.

"Thanks."

Nitrogen Accelerator King took a deep breath and hovered his finger above the button.

He glanced back at Rick, then at Minos, and then at Leylin, who was watching them quietly.

Then he pressed it.

A flash of light.

He disappeared.
