Chapter 268 Wenjing's Complete Open-mindedness
In May, the weather in southern Yunnan is just right.
When the plane landed, Wenjing leaned against the window and looked out.
"Little Jingjing, stop daydreaming, let's go."
Zhao Yanxi stood up and stretched, revealing a section of her fair and slender waist under her short T-shirt.
She wore a cream-colored short-sleeved T-shirt, light blue denim shorts, and canvas shoes, without socks, revealing her slender ankles.
Wenjing followed behind her, wearing a light pink tracksuit, her hair tied in a low ponytail, her face bare, and she looked a little dazed on her round face.
Ding Heng walked at the back, shoving his suitcase. His gaze moved from Zhao Yanxi's legs to Wen Jing's waist, then back again.
The guesthouse I booked was located by Erhai Lake. It was a three-story building in the Bai ethnic style, with white walls and blue tiles. There were several bougainvillea trees in the courtyard, which were in full bloom.
The owner is a Bai woman in her forties with dark skin and a hearty laugh.
"The room you booked on the third floor has the best view; you can see Erhai Lake as soon as you open the window."
She led the three of them upstairs and pushed open the door.
The room is large, with a two-meter-wide bed and a small terrace outside the floor-to-ceiling window, furnished with two rattan chairs and a small round table.
Zhao Yanxi was the first to rush in, walked around the room, and then ran to the terrace to look out.
"Wow—Xiao Jingjing, come quick!"
Wenjing walked over, her gaze falling on the distant Erhai Lake.
Ding Heng put his suitcase in the corner, walked onto the terrace, and pulled the two girls into his arms, one in each hand.
Zhao Yanxi leaned close to his chest and looked up at him, asking, "Brother Ding Heng, what are we doing this afternoon?"
"What do you want to do?"
"Hmm—let's rent an electric scooter and go for a ride around the sea!"
"OK."
Wenjing didn't say anything, and quietly leaned on Ding Heng's other shoulder the whole time.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, the sun began to shift westward.
The three rented two electric scooters, one for Ding Heng and one for Zhao Yanxi.
Zhao Yanxi got on her bike, her long legs braced on the ground, and turned to call out to Wenjing, "Little Jingjing, do you want to ride with Ding Heng or mine?"
Wenjing looked at her, then at Ding Heng, hesitated for a long time, and finally walked towards Ding Heng.
Clearly, they didn't have much faith in Zhao Yanxi's driving skills.
Zhao Yanxi pouted: "Fine, fine, you two take one bike, I'll ride mine."
She put on her helmet, twisted the throttle, and the electric scooter roared off, her ponytail fluttering in the wind.
Wenjing sat sideways on the back of Ding Heng's seat, gently placing her hands on his waist.
Hold me tight.
Wenjing simply wrapped both arms around his waist and pressed her whole body against him.
The car started, and a gentle breeze blew.
The roads along Erhai Lake are narrow and there aren't many cars; the scenery on both sides recedes into the distance frame by frame.
Zhao Yanxi rode in front, glancing back at them every now and then, before speeding up and rushing off, then slowing down to wait for them to catch up.
Half an hour later, she stopped at a roadside viewing platform, took off her helmet, her hair was a little messy, and her face was flushed.
"Take a break."
The three walked to the edge of the viewing platform, held onto the railing, and looked at the sea.
Ding Heng suddenly reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind Wen Jing's ear.
Wenjing blushed slightly and lowered her head.
Zhao Yanxi snorted: "Tsk, Brother Ding Heng, you're being biased. I want some too."
She tilted her head back and leaned closer to Ding Heng.
Ding Heng was both amused and exasperated, and reached out to ruffle her hair haphazardly.
"Alright, alright."
"Hmph, just going through the motions."
Zhao Yanxi pouted, but didn't seem to mind Ding Heng's differential treatment.
The three continued riding, stopping frequently to take photos, drink water, and enjoy the scenery.
By the time we got back to the guesthouse, it was almost six o'clock. The sun was beginning to set.
"Go take a shower first, then we'll go out for dinner!"
Zhao Yanxi was the first to rush into the room, rummaged through her suitcase for clothes, and went into the bathroom.
Wenjing sat quietly on the edge of the bed, bending down to tidy her hair, which had been ruffled by the wind.
Ding Heng reached out and put his arm around her shoulder again.
"Are you tired?"
"fine."
Wenjing leaned on Ding Heng's shoulder.
The sound of water came from the bathroom. Through the frosted glass, Zhao Yanxi's figure could be vaguely seen, her blurry curves swaying on the glass.
Wenjing glanced at it, then quickly looked away.
Ding Heng whispered in her ear, "Want to shower together?"
Wenjing raised her hand and gently pushed him.
"Stop fooling around—"
"No trouble."
Ding Heng chuckled softly and didn't continue.
The bathroom door opened, and Zhao Yanxi walked out, wrapped in a white bath towel, her two bare, long legs dazzlingly white.
"Who's going to wash? The water's hot."
Wenjing stood up, picked up her pajamas, and quickly walked into the bathroom.
The door closed, and the sound of water resumed.
Zhao Yanxi sat down next to Ding Heng and turned her head to look at him.
"Brother Ding Heng."
"Um?
'
"Have you been staring at my legs all day?"
Ding Heng raised an eyebrow: "Really?"
"have."
Zhao Yanxi said confidently, "Do you think I didn't see it?"
Ding Heng reached out and pinched her chin: "What, aren't your legs for me to see?"
Zhao Yanxi smiled slyly: "You won't be watching for nothing!"
She leaned closer, her lips touching Ding Heng's earlobe.
"They charge a fee."
"How much will it cost?"
Ding Heng slid his large hand from her chin to her collarbone, hooking his fingertips around the edge of the bath towel and gently pulling it down.
The bath towel was loosened a little, revealing a deeper curve.
Zhao Yanxi didn't dodge; instead, she leaned forward, making it easier for Ding Heng's hand to reach her.
"We'll collect the fee together when Xiaojing comes out."
Her voice was soft, just as the sound of water in the bathroom stopped.
The door opened, and Wenjing came out. She saw Zhao Yanxi leaning on Ding Heng's shoulder and instinctively looked away.
"Come here, I'll blow it for you."
Ding Heng stood up and picked up the hair dryer.
Wenjing sat obediently, and Ding Heng stood behind her, running his fingers through her hair as the hot air blew.
Zhao Yanxi also came over and wrapped her arms around Wenjing's waist from behind, resting her chin on her shoulder.
"Xiao Jingjing, your hair smells so good."
"It smells wonderful since it was just washed!"
Wenjing muttered a complaint in a low voice.
The sound of the hairdryer echoed in the room. None of the three spoke, and the atmosphere was quiet yet ambiguous.
We had dinner in the old town at 8 p.m.
The three of them went to a restaurant with Bai ethnic characteristics and sat on the second floor by the window. Below was a stone-paved road with people coming and going.
After dinner, the three of them strolled around the ancient city.
Zhao Yanxi wanted to go inside and look at everything she saw. She tried on silver bracelets one moment and smelled flower-scented cakes the next, like a restless cat.
Wenjing followed behind her, occasionally being pulled along for photos.
While browsing through a tie-dye shop, Zhao Yanxi took a fancy to a dress with a light blue base and white patterns, which was very simple and elegant.
"Xiao Jingjing, try this."
She shoved the dress into Wenjing's hands and pushed her toward the fitting room.
"Me? I won't—"
-
"Just give it a try! It doesn't cost any money."
Wenjing couldn't persuade her otherwise, so she went into the fitting room.
A few minutes later, the door opened and Wenjing came out.
Wenjing is indeed very suitable for ethnic minority costumes; when she wears them, she looks serene and elegant.
Zhao Yanxi looked her up and down and nodded in satisfaction.
"It looks great! I'll buy it!"
Around 10 o'clock, the three of them started walking back.
When we got back to the guesthouse, the moon had already risen.
"So beautiful————"
Wenjing stood on the terrace and sighed softly.
Zhao Yanxi hugged her from behind.
"Little Jingjing".
"Um?
"Are you happy today?"
"happy."
Her tone was very firm.
Zhao Yanxi and Ding Heng's special companionship today made her feel incredibly valued.
Ding Heng came out of the house carrying three cups of tea, and handed one to each of them.
The three people stood side by side on the terrace.
Zhao Yanxi spoke first: "Brother Ding Heng."
"Um."
"Where do you think we should go tomorrow?"
"Where do you want to go?"
"Hmm... going to Shuanglang? I heard it's really beautiful there."
"OK.
"What about you, Jingjing?"
"I'm fine with either."
"Then it's settled."
Zhao Yanxi clapped her hands, as if she had made some important decision.
The three of them stood there for a while longer, and then Zhao Yanxi started to yawn.
"I'm sleepy, time for bed!"
She turned and walked into the house, but after a couple of steps, she turned back and winked at Ding Heng: "Brother Ding Heng, how are you going to sleep tonight?"
Ding Heng teased, "How do you want to sleep?"
Zhao Yanxi smiled ambiguously: "How else can we sleep? Let's just sleep together as usual—but we need to save our energy for tomorrow."
Wenjing lowered her head and didn't say anything.
Ding Heng remained silent.
Zhao Yanxi took their silence as consent, walked into the room with a grin, lay down on the bed, and swung her long legs up.
"Come quick, come quick, the bed's warm."
Wenjing dawdled into the room, lay down on the other side of the bed, and straightened her body.
Ding Heng was the last to enter the room. He turned off the main light, leaving only a small nightlight by the bedside.
After three rows of people had already passed by in the afternoon, the three of them made no further moves and quietly prepared to go to sleep.
Zhao Yanxi rolled over, put her arm around his waist, and pressed her face against his shoulder.
Goodnight, Ding Heng.
"Good night."
"Good night----"
Wenjing responded at the same time, and Ding Heng could feel that her breathing was faster than usual.
He reached out and gently grasped Wenjing's small hand—Wenjing's fingers curled slightly, then slowly relaxed, and she grasped Ding Heng's palm in return.
After a while of quiet, Zhao Yanxi's breathing gradually became even, as if she had fallen asleep.
I don't know how much time has passed.
Wenjing woke up groggily. The room was dark, with only a little moonlight shining through the gap in the curtains.
She felt something moving.
It was Ding Heng's hand.
His hand had somehow moved away from hers and was now resting on her waist; through the thin nightgown, his palm was warm.
His thumb gently stroked her waist, again and again.
Wenjing's breathing became a beat off.
She didn't move, pretending to still be asleep.
Ding Heng slowly moved his hand down to her hip bone, his fingertips hooking the hem of her nightgown and gently lifting it up.
The fabric was rolled up, revealing a section of her fair waist and abdomen.
A cool night breeze blew in through the window, giving Wenjing goosebumps.
The next second, Ding Heng placed his palm on Wen Jing's lower abdomen, the heat making her tremble slightly. Then, he moved his hand upwards little by little, his fingertips brushing against the lower edge of her ribs.
Wenjing finally couldn't hold back and reached out to press his hand down.
"Ding Heng————"
"Don't be afraid, I'll just play for a little while."
"Ugh————"
Wenjing ultimately did not resist, or rather, she had long been accustomed to her body becoming Ding Heng's convenient toy.
"Quiet".
Ding Heng called her name softly, but the force in his hand was completely opposite.
"Um----"
A short, nasal sound escaped Wenjing's throat, which she quickly swallowed back.
"I've already made arrangements for your family."
Ding Heng said calmly, "Your mother called me yesterday and said she wants your brother to transfer to Xingcheng to study."
Wenjing's body stiffened.
I didn't agree.
Ding Heng began to draw circles lightly with his fingers, his tone still unhurried.
"I told her that I would consider it if her brother could get into the top 100 in the whole school, but I doubted it would be possible—and right now, Wenshu's exam is the most important thing."
He pressed his fingers harder again, and Wenjing trembled.
"Your mom wasn't too happy at first, but when she heard my unfriendly tone, she quickly smiled apologetically."
Wenjing didn't know what to say. Ding Heng's fingers were still moving, making her mind a complete mess.
"I'll take care of your family matters from now on. You don't need to worry about it or feel troubled."
Ding Heng's tone left no room for argument: "You stay by my side peacefully, go to school when you're supposed to, play when you're supposed to. After graduation, you can work if you want, or stay home and be my little cook if you don't want to, and live a happy life."
"Ding Heng————"
"And Yan hope."
Ding Heng interrupted her: "You two grew up together, you're closer than sisters. You both know how she treats you and how you treat her."
The man placed his palm back on Wenjing's lower abdomen.
"Yan hope may seem carefree on the surface, but she actually cares about you more than anyone else. Why did she insist on throwing you a birthday party? Because she felt indebted to you and wanted to drag you into this mess."
"She didn't—"
"I know."
Ding Heng interrupted again: "You don't need to blame her, but don't keep feeling like you owe her something. Neither of you owes the other anything; it's me who's being inhuman."
Wenjing's nose tingled and her eyes reddened.
"So you two should be best friends for the rest of your lives. Neither of you should try to run away, and neither of you should try to abandon the other."
Ding Heng's hand slid from her lower abdomen to her waist, pulling her into his arms, and he lowered his head to gently kiss her forehead.
"You're almost twenty, Wenjing. I'll make arrangements for your future."
The man said matter-of-factly, "As long as you stay by my side and be best friends with Yan hope for life..."
Wenjing didn't say anything, tears silently sliding down her cheeks and soaking into the pillow.
Ding Heng's thumb brushed across the corner of her eye, wiping away the tear stain.
"Why are you crying? Am I wrong?"
"no----"
Wenjing sniffed: "I—I think it's pretty good."
"What's so good about it?"
"It's just that it's great to have met you two."
Wenjing was completely incoherent, speaking entirely on instinct.
Whether it was the birthday arrangements for Zhao Yanxi or the simple trip arranged by Ding Heng, both made her feel valued.
This feeling was so rare for her, it had always been so since she was a child.
Things had improved after she became Ding Heng's girlfriend, but as more and more people surrounded Ding Heng, similar feelings resurfaced.
Adding in all sorts of other things, I've fallen into a period of self-inflicted internal strife.
But Ding Heng's words made her realize that she was probably being pretentious.
Ding Heng chuckled and changed the subject.
"Want to take another shower? I haven't had enough fun yet—"
"Is it just the two of us? Should we wake Yan hope up?"
"No need, hers isn't as big as yours, and it's not as fun as yours."
"Oh—okay."
The little white rabbit responded obediently as always.
It seems I understand why Zhao Yanxi and Lin Man usually like to cheat on each other so much; it's quite exciting!
A moment later ————
The gauze curtains swayed gently, and the water murmured softly.
