I'm building Gundams in America

Chapter 220 The Succession of the Manchu Imperial Family

Chapter 220 The Manchu Imperial Succession (Seeking Monthly Tickets)

Money Rat Tail had by now become bald, his face bruised and swollen, and streaked with tears.

Surrounded by a group of menacing black men, he looked up at the door with a pitiful expression and muttered, "Brother Yang, hurry—hurry and find the Prince—"

The man with the parted hair looked at the gang members filling the room, and at the bald-headed Rat-tailed man slumped on the floor. His smile froze completely, and he stammered, "Brother Sha--Shahan? This is—"

My subconscious urge was to back away.

Marcus lunged forward, grabbed him by the collar, and lifted him into the room like a chick, tossing him aside in front of Wayne: "Godfather, another one's here."

The man with his hair parted fell to the ground, his glasses sliding down to the tip of his nose.

He quickly adjusted his glasses, looked up, and saw the black-haired, black-eyed man sitting in the chair, along with the menacing gang members around him. He trembled and said, "I—I'm Yang Panzu, the Secretary of State of the Free Citizens Alliance! What on earth happened here?"

He then turned to the Money Rat Tail, whose mouth was bleeding and who looked utterly dejected, and said urgently, "Brother Shahan, say something!"

The now bald, money-tailed rat looked at Wayne and said cautiously, "Brother Yang, we're done for. We're really done for. These people are all friends of that damn Alex brothers—we've all misunderstood—"

Yang Panzu stiffened his neck and said, "Misunderstanding? What misunderstanding is no excuse for beating someone like this! They even cut off my friend Jin Shahan's braid! This is blatant racial discrimination!"

"America is a free, democratic, and civilized country. Such acts of violence are absolutely unacceptable. I'm calling the police!"

Upon hearing this, the surrounding gang members exchanged knowing smiles. The bald man named Jinshahan, however, was terrified and hurriedly said to Wayne and the others, "This brother is a new immigrant and doesn't understand many things yet. Gentlemen, I'm so sorry, so very sorry—"

"My ancestors came to America during the Qing Dynasty, and I understand many things. Since this gentleman and Alex are friends, let's part ways here, as our friendship endures."

"We can't let this go!" Yang Panzu suddenly stood up, looked at Wayne, and said solemnly, "How could I, the Secretary of State of the Free Citizens Union, bow down to the forces of evil? This is America, the City upon a Hill!"

"This man," he pointed sharply at Alex, "is a spy sent by Dongda University! His goal is to undermine America's international influence; his intentions are clear!"

"As Secretary of State of the Citizens' League of Freedoms, I must remind you, sir, that your actions are aiding America's enemies; you are betraying your country!" Yang Panzu said to Wayne with righteous indignation and certainty.

All the gang members present, including Rod, burst out laughing.

Saul shook his head and said to Yang Panzu, "MotherFucker, what kind of American are you?"

Yang Panzu was taken aback, and said in heavily accented English, "I—I haven't gotten my green card yet, but it's coming soon. I suffered political persecution at the University of Tokyo, and I have political asylum. Mr. Smith from the Agency for International Development agreed to grant me—"

Alex, standing nearby, interjected, "Brother, weren't you sentenced to three years for fraud at the University of Tokyo and then smuggled yourself here after your release? What political persecution are you talking about?"

Upon hearing this, Yang Panzu jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, pointing at Alex and cursing, "You fucking Dongda spy! You're talking nonsense! I—I'm being politically persecuted! I helped people make money through investments, how is that fraud? Besides, don't I have to spend some money myself when I do investment research? The economy—the economy fluctuates—"

Wayne asked calmly, "Mr. Yang, how many people are in your Civil Liberties Union?"

Upon hearing this, Yang Panzu immediately straightened his back and said, "Our Free Citizens Alliance is currently in its development stage, with over thirty members, all elites from various sectors who came from Dongda University! Moreover, we have received strong support from the CIA and the United States Agency for International Development!"

Alex nodded and said, "I know you guys, buddy. One president, eight vice presidents, one secretary of state, five deputy secretaries of state, and the rest are all cabinet members."

Yang Panzu snorted coldly, not ashamed but proud: "Of course, those who first embraced the ideals of free citizens should be treated well. When we grow stronger and launch a counterattack against Dongda University, these founders will be the true regional leaders!"

He then glared menacingly at Alex and said, "After democracy and freedom, I'll kill your whole family first!"

Wayne frowned and gave Thor and Marcus a wink.

The two immediately understood.

The Godfather disliked this man's attitude.

With a wave of his hand, more than a dozen black gang members surrounded Yang Panzu.

"You—what do you want? I know people in the CIA! I have connections with the U.S. government!" Yang Panzu shouted. "We're all friends, I love America, I'm helping you catch a spy—"

Before he could finish his last sentence, a muffled thud was heard, and he had taken a solid punch to the face. His face was covered in a patchwork of colors, with his skin torn and bleeding.

What followed was a barrage of punches and kicks.

Jin Shahan, standing to the side, looked reluctant, his brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed.

Yang Panzu was beaten much more severely than him.

This is also a problem for these new immigrants.

Do they really think America is some kind of free and democratic land? They've been chanting anti-China slogans every day until they actually believe it themselves.

Reading too much Yilin magazine has brainwashed me.

Do you think these Blood Gang and Tumor Gang members care about your Free Citizens' Union? They don't even outnumber the waiters in a single restaurant.

You say you have the CIA behind you? Gangsters don't care what you do. They beat you up and that's it. The police don't even bother with an illegal immigrant like you who doesn't even have a green card. Why would the CIA care about you?

"Political asylum, my foot! Who doesn't know that the president is cracking down on fake political asylum cases?"

Only these new immigrants who came illegally believe in this.

"Don't hit my face—and—please, don't hit my hand—I have to go to work washing dishes later—if I don't finish, the boss will fire me—" Yang Panzu cried out in despair.

"CIA! I really am a CIA agent!"

"I—I also know people in the Chinese community! What you're doing will incur the wrath of the Prince! His ancestors were from the Manchu imperial family, and they came to America during the Tongzhi era. They have deep roots and influence; you have no idea how powerful he is!"

Upon hearing this, Wayne waved his hand, and the group of black gang members who were fighting immediately dispersed.

Wayne looked at Yang Panzu and said, "Since you know that prince and are a CIA agent, let's call it a day, my friend. You can leave now."

With that, he waved his hand, and the group of black gang members immediately scattered and stopped what they were doing.

"By the way, my name is Wayne, and I live on Sisyphus Street. Please give my regards to that prince."

Then, still somewhat uneasy, he asked, "Is that prince really a member of the Manchu imperial family? Has he been here since the Tongzhi era?"

Sensing the importance the other party placed on the prince, Yang Panzu quickly said, "It's absolutely true! Prince Jin's house still has portraits of the Qing Dynasty imperial family hanging on the walls! He's very familiar with many—that official—"

Wayne nodded.

He must have a lot of treasures at home.

Yang Panzu, clutching his bruised eye, quickly said, "Since you also know about Prince Jin, let's consider today's matter a misunderstanding and let's let it go—"

Wayne said gently, "It's a misunderstanding, Saul. Please see this Secretary Yang out of here."

Yang Panzu felt as if he had been granted a pardon and rushed out the door, fearing that these vicious gang members would change their minds. Even as he reached the door, he turned back to Alex and said menacingly, "Alex! You dare hit me? You just wait!"

He turned and ran away.

Jin Shahan, clutching his blood-stained mouth, picked up his two front teeth and chased after Yang Panzu, calling out, "Brother Yang, wait for me! Wait for me!"

Wayne said to Rhodes in a deep voice, "Follow them."

Rhodes nodded and immediately followed the two away.

Wayne then turned to Alex and said, "Alex, let's go."

The Saul family's house is an unassuming bungalow in a low-income neighborhood in South Seattle, but their yard is very tidy.

You can smell the aroma of roasted meat even before you enter the door.

"Mom! Godfather Wayne is here!" Thor shouted as he entered the room, glancing at Alex and Marcus, who had shamelessly followed him, adding, "And Godfather's friend Alex, and—an unrelated person."

It's one thing for her to try and steal my godfather, but why does she have to come to my house and freeload off me?

A plump, smiling Black woman came out of the kitchen, wiped her hands on her apron, and gave Wayne a big hug.

It was Thor's mother, Silas.

"Mr. Wayne, you've finally arrived! I already told Saul today that if he can't invite you to his house, I'll replace all the Playboy magazine covers in his collection with pictures of his dead father!"

"Oh, dear, you must be Mr. Wayne's friend Alex? You're too thin; you should eat more."

"Marcus, my darling, at home we don't distinguish between the Bloods and the Cripples, there's only the child and the mother. Sit down."

Without a word, Sylla had already forced Alex and Marcus into their seats.

The table was now laden with traditional Black food:

Grilled ribs, fried chicken, kale, black-eyed peas, cornbread, and a big bowl of potato salad.

Alex said in a low voice, "Brother Wayne, thank you so much. I was just thinking of finding a place to hide—to be honest, I've already bought my plane ticket. I'm going straight to MIT tonight at midnight and then fly to East University from there."

"I created a lot of fake identities online to protect my real identity, and I spread a lot of misinformation, so no one would have thought I would go back early."

Wayne patted him on the shoulder and said, "Since you're here, make the best of it. After you finish eating, I'll have someone take you north. Now, let's eat."

Alex nodded and said, "I've already contacted a friend to pick me up, Wayne. I'll call you often once I get back to East University."

Wayne smiled slightly and said in fluent Mandarin, "Well, Alex, to be honest, I'm actually a little envious of you—"

As he was speaking, Wayne's phone suddenly vibrated.

It was Rod calling.

"Sir, I followed those two people to the vicinity of Chinatown. There's a courtyard here, and I even thought I'd arrived in ancient East —"
