Chapter 74 Back to the Bullburg

Sleep after a hangover is exceptionally deep.

The morning light in Novigrad filtered through the thin gauze curtains, casting dappled patterns of light onto the bed, bringing a gentle warmth.

Olivia was awakened by this glimmer of light. As her eyelashes trembled, the incredibly beautiful woman with flawless skin slowly opened her eyes. A wave of aches and pains washed over her body, causing her to furrow her brow.

She slowly sat up, her silk robe slipping off her shoulders, her fair skin still bearing traces of last night's passion, and a blush rising on her face.

Neither of them got drunk last night; it was simply a matter of passion leading to a natural progression.

But this bastard is making things a bit too difficult!

Olivia gritted her teeth. She hadn't undergone any magical modifications, and her physical attributes were only slightly better than those of an ordinary elf. How could she withstand Li De's full-force attack?

The unfaithful man was no longer in the room; only a steaming breakfast remained on the wooden table beside the bed.

Downstairs in the hotel lobby, morning light streamed through the windows, filling the air with the mixed aroma of bread and ale.

Li De and Geralt sat facing each other, with a simple breakfast laid out in front of them. They ate slowly and discussed their upcoming itinerary in hushed tones.

"You mean, you're not coming back to Kaer Morhen with us for the time being?"

Li De nodded: "I still have some things to take care of in Niubao, I need to go there. Are you sure you're okay with it?"

"no problem."

Geralt spoke without hesitation, "Cordwin is practically our territory, what could possibly go wrong? Besides, Lambert and the others are near the Cordwin ferry; we can find them as soon as we disembark. Three witchers can't protect a little girl? They might as well break their swords and quit this line of work."

As soon as he finished speaking, he couldn't help but let out a big yawn.

"Didn't sleep well last night?"

Geralt immediately rolled his eyes, his tone full of resentment.

"Isn't this all thanks to you? Your bed was shaking half the night, how could I possibly sleep?"

Li De was taken aback for a moment, then burst into carefree laughter, teasingly remarking.

"So you were having trouble sleeping alone, missing Yennefer?"

Mentioning the black-haired sorceress, the resentment on White Wolf's face faded, replaced by a faint bitterness.

I miss her a lot.

The emotional entanglement between the wolf and the leaf could easily fill a hundred or eighty episodes if made into a TV series, with a melodramatic level approaching that of a prime-time romance drama.

Those few who knew the situation just took it as a joke; no one pretended to be a relationship expert.

Ultimately, matters of the heart are a personal matter. As long as you don't get stuck on one thing, the so-called love-hate relationship is just an emotional game. Rushing in will only make you a part of that game.

As the two were talking, Olivia, whose face was still flushed, walked down the stairs and sat down next to Li De.

The elven's aloof demeanor, combined with her shy charm, instantly drew the attention of all the patrons in the hall. If it weren't for the two armored, sword-wielding demon hunters, someone would have already come up to chat with her.

"It's perfect that you're here. It saves me the trouble of looking for you later. Let's discuss our upcoming itinerary. Do you have any places you're planning to visit next?"

Olivia shook her head blankly.

Looking back on the first half of her life, she led her tribe on a nomadic journey, without a fixed abode.

After leaving the tribe, she suddenly realized that there was no place for her to stay in this vast northern region, and for a moment she did not know where to go.

Seeing this, Li De softened his tone and patiently suggested, "What is the relationship between your tribe and the Sid elves of Blue Mountain? If there are no old grudges, I know a Sid elf priestess who should be very willing to protect you."

"Or, how about going to Kaer Morhen? You can stay in my room; they have everything you need."

Olivia fidgeted with the hem of her dress, hesitated for a few seconds, and then muttered softly, "So, are you going back to Kaer Morhen?"

"Of course I'll go back, but before that, I need to go to Cowburg. You can wait for me in Kaer Morhen, or come with me?"

"I'll wait for you in Kaer Mohen."

Olivia chose the former without hesitation.

Throughout the journey, she was constantly worried that recklessly casting spells would attract the Wild Hunt, so she acted almost like an ordinary elf. Following Li De to Cowburg would only be a burden, so she might as well go back and wait for him to return.

Moreover, she had heard Li De boast more than once about how rich the library of the Witcher Fortress was.

Probably, should, maybe, possibly — it will open up to me.

"Alright then, it's settled then."

A moment later, the group packed their bags and arrived at the ferry.

Three people boarded the boat, and one person disembarked.

Before boarding the ship, Ciri waved goodbye to Reed.

Li De smiled and waved, watching the boat carrying the three of them slowly sail away from the ferry. Only when the boat disappeared behind the boundary line did he ride on Coal Ball and turn to leave Novigrad.

Just as a bowstring will loosen if it's stretched too tight, so too will a person.

Li De was always good at finding ways to amuse himself. Having finally relaxed, he wasn't in a hurry to get going. He strolled along the road, leisurely enjoying the scenery along the way.

After being accustomed to seeing mountains of corpses and seas of blood, occasionally gazing at green hills and clear waters can be a pleasant experience.

He set off at noon, and stopped at a small country tavern along the way to rest and spend the night.

We finally arrived at Niubao the following day at noon.

This time, no foolish guards stopped or questioned them.

If the system for mentally challenged individuals had a reputation tier, his reputation level in Cowburg would at least be Honored.

Speaking specifically of the city guards, they need to be promoted one level higher.

Near the city gate, I happened to see Thrall.

After exchanging a glance, the two burst into laughter in unison.

"You're finally back! How many days are you planning to stay this time?"

The valiant city guard captain waved to stop his men from following him and came alone to the witcher's side.

He had previously received a letter informing him that Li De was preoccupied with some matters but was not in danger. However, he hadn't heard any news for so long and couldn't help but worry.

Li De dismounted.

"I don't know. I made an appointment with Elena to look at the sorcerer's manuscript. I guess I'll leave after I've looked at it."

"Then you'd better be careful. Elena has been in a bad mood lately and has scolded quite a few students so much that they're almost afraid to go to class."

"I understand, I know what I'm doing."

"Alright, then you go ahead and get busy. Come find me at the guard camp when you're done, and I'll have some good wine ready for you."

Sal patted his arm and said no more.

Li De led the coal ball slowly into the city of Niubao, and walked straight towards Elena's residence along the familiar stone-paved road.

Before long, he arrived at a small building with a neat courtyard and several herbs planted in front of the door.

Li De gently knocked on the wooden door.

A short while later, the crisp sound of heels clicking on the ground came from behind.

crunch~

The door opened.

The red-haired beauty with a cool expression froze for a second, then threw herself into Li De's arms.

Everyone assumed that the first thing they would say next would be to pour out their hearts to each other.

Li De also thought so.

However, what should have been a tender and affectionate embrace after a long separation was abruptly halted by her unexpected remark.

"I think I smell other women's perfume."
