Reborn in America: I Have an Equipment Slot
Chapter 133 What is Level 6 Armor?
Chapter 133 What is a Level 6A?
As night fell, lights came on in the backyard of John's pawnshop.
At this moment, Irving is under the lights, sitting on a small excavator, digging a deep pit in the ground.
Ayesha and Fiona stood to the side, their faces full of confusion.
"Hey, Owen, are you sure you want to dig a basement in the yard tonight?" After standing by the back door for a long time, Ayesha could no longer contain her curiosity and asked.
"That's right!" Owen got off the mini excavator, shone a light on it to make sure he hadn't dug the wrong hole, and then prepared to dig another hole.
"I think you should be more cautious."
Ayesha scratched her head, thought for a moment, and then tried to dissuade them, saying, "Digging a basement next to a non-residential building without permission or registration... will result in a fine if discovered."
"The fine doesn't matter; my life is the most important thing," Irving said impatiently.
After leaving Catherine's private villa, Irving realized that the coming week would be the time when "The Godfather" would see its box office rise the fastest.
Although they had already received information from Hathaway that Ms. Catherine would take action against the other party.
But Irving doesn't want to put his life in someone else's hands.
To prevent Lehman Pictures from targeting him again, Owen thought it best to make plans early.
Under cover of darkness, they dug out a basement where they could hide.
In the event of an attack, one can quickly hide in the basement and patiently wait for the danger to pass.
"Alright then, since that's the case, I'll help too." Seeing that Owen showed no sign of stopping, Fiona thought for a moment and then stepped forward to help.
Left with no other choice, Ayesha had to bite the bullet and help out.
The next day, early in the morning.
Ring ring—
The unexpected ringing of the telephone echoed throughout the pawnshop.
Irving lay on the makeshift bed and frowned instinctively when he heard the shrill ringing of the bell.
However, he simply rolled over and didn't intend to pay any attention.
He stayed up all night last night and barely managed to dig the basement almost completely.
All he can do now is get a good night's sleep; as for other things, he'll deal with them later.
Seeing that the phone showed no signs of stopping, Fiona, who was sleeping in the pawnshop's vault, got out of bed, walked to the counter, and picked up the receiver: "Hello, John's Pawnshop, how can I help you?"
Upon hearing the voice on the other end of the line specifically asking for Owen, Fiona hesitated for a moment before quickly running to him.
"Owen, someone's looking for you. It seems to be someone from Ms. Catherine's side—"
Upon hearing Fiona's words, Owen raised an eyebrow, quickly got up, and went to the phone.
"Hey! Hi, I'm Irving."
"Hello, I'm Ms. Catherine's security supervisor. You can call me Nick."
"Hello, Nick, what brings you here?" Irving looked puzzled upon hearing the words "security supervisor."
He was a little confused as to why the other party was calling at this time.
"Here's the thing, Mr. Owen. According to our internal information, Lehman Pictures is highly likely to target you again in the next couple of days, attempting to damage your public image," Nick explained calmly over the phone. "As instructed by Ms. Catherine, several members of our security team will be coming to your home to provide dedicated protection for approximately one week. Would you accept that?"
"Of course! No problem! What time will you be arriving?" Owen readily agreed.
After all, who wouldn't want a free bodyguard?
Besides, if he wasn't mistaken, these people should be Catherine's private security force.
Since Catherine has already expressed this opinion, it would be inappropriate to refuse directly.
"We will arrive at the pawn shop in about ten minutes. Until then, please be careful and make sure you are safe."
"OK! I understand!"
After hanging up the phone, Fiona, who was standing next to her, was somewhat surprised. "Private bodyguards? Lehman Pictures? Owen, aren't you already a movie star? How could someone attack you? That's outrageous!"
"That's just how it is. Capitalists will do anything for profit," Owen replied helplessly. "But at worst, I'll just have to stay out of the spotlight for a while."
Fiona watched as Owen hung up the phone and started changing his clothes, and suddenly felt a pang of emotion.
She originally thought that all those movie stars were glamorous, making so much money that their hands were sore from counting it, and spending all their time enjoying themselves except for filming.
But now it seems that no industry is that simple.
Ten minutes later.
Several pickup trucks arrived in front of the pawnshop street and parked on the side of the road. Several black men with shiny skin, dressed in suits, wearing sunglasses and white headsets got out.
These black men were all muscular and strong; just by standing there, they exuded an overwhelming sense of intimidation.
The leader got out of the car, took off his sunglasses, and glanced at the sign of John's Pawnshop.
After confirming that the location was correct, he led the people into the pawnshop.
As soon as he pushed open the store door, he saw Irving standing behind the counter, busy at work. He immediately went up to him and waved, "Hi!"
"Hello, Mr. Owen, I'm O'Neill, Ms. Catherine's security supervisor!"
"Hello, O'Neal, this is Kyrie Irving. This is my employee Fiona. It looks like I'll be troubling you for the next couple of days." Irving smiled and shook hands with her, greeting her.
"It's alright, Mr. Owen. This is our duty, and Ms. Catherine has already instructed me to ensure your safety," O'Neill said seriously.
Seeing this, Irving nodded.
But he soon realized something was wrong.
"None of you brought guns?" Owen asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Of course we brought guns." O'Neal unbuttoned his suit jacket and opened it for Irving to glance at.
Seeing O'Neal fully armed, wearing a bulletproof vest and a portable holster at his waist, Irving couldn't help but touch the bulletproof vest.
The ceramic plates inside have at least six layers, but it looks incredibly lightweight and can definitely withstand most bullets—a true level six armor!
But how many kilograms would that set weigh?
But you can't tell from the outside at all.
As a pawnshop owner, Irving knew without needing an appraisal that this bulletproof vest was quite expensive.
A set costs at least a thousand US dollars, which is more expensive than most firearms!
If I were to put on a set myself and face an attack, the enemy might break their pistol but still not be able to hurt me; the firepower would be on a completely different level.
