Chapter 172 Poison Dragon Town, the Barrier of Perception
Ao Peng sensed that Qi Tang was not simple, and he vaguely felt that someone wanted to use this love to scheme against him.
However, this person's methods are too sophisticated. If it were hatred or greed, Ao Peng could use the [Heavenly Demon Bewitching Heart] to detect the source. On the contrary, love, in some ways, is more difficult to resolve than hatred or greed.
That's why many top players have failed at this stage.
When in doubt, start from the old ground!
[You spirited heir, it seems you've encountered some good fortune.]
Well, after seeing this text from the Old Earth System, Ao Peng was certain that someone was plotting against him.
However, the will of the old land only gave itself a single sentence as a hint, and then the text continued.
[Due to these fortunate circumstances, you ultimately chose to come here. Welcome to Poison Dragon Town.]
According to legend, Nagarjuna Bodhisattva retrieved the Avatamsaka Sutra from the Dragon Palace. He then found a sacred place to cultivate himself, hoping to thoroughly understand the sutra and comprehend Mahayana Buddhism.
During this process, a small dragon flew out of the Dragon Palace and followed the Bodhisattva in his practice. One day, the Bodhisattva was meditating on the Dharma on a giant rock when a sudden thunderstorm broke out. The small dragon then imitated its predecessor, King Naga of the Nyingma school, by spreading its neck scales to shield the Bodhisattva from the wind and rain.
Ao Peng remembered that this was the scene of the Buddha's enlightenment in Buddhism. In Bharat, they called the Naga serpent a dragon.
It is normal for Nagarjuna Bodhisattva, as the second Shakyamuni, to enjoy such treatment.
Of course, the origin of this myth can be traced back to Vishnu, one of the three gods of Bharat, who attained enlightenment while sitting on the thousand-headed serpent Shesha.
It is precisely because Mahayana Buddhism borrowed and inherited this view that Bharata also called the Buddha the ninth incarnation of Vishnu. Of course, this is also Bharata's wishful thinking, since Buddhism was initially founded partly to resist Bharata's caste theory.
[When Nagarjuna Bodhisattva awoke from his enlightenment, he was pleased with the offering to the little dragon, and thus taught it Mahayana Buddhism and instructed it in spiritual practice.]
[Several centuries later, as Nagarjuna Bodhisattva achieved great success in his spiritual practice, there were even more important things to accomplish. However, the young dragon's spiritual cultivation and virtue were insufficient to accompany Nagarjuna Bodhisattva in completing that important task, so he remained in this place alone to cultivate.]
Just then, a human king learned of this and came to pay his respects.
This little dragon had followed Nagarjuna Bodhisattva in his practice for a hundred years and had begun to possess Buddha-nature. Upon learning that a human king had come to pay his respects, it compassionately explained the Dharma to the king and guided his practice.
After the king attained supernatural powers through his spiritual practice, he was dissatisfied with his meager strength. He had personally witnessed a dragon god who had achieved enlightenment under the guidance of Nagarjuna Bodhisattva, capable of instantly stopping a torrential downpour within a hundred miles. Thus, his greed grew along with his supernatural powers.
More than ten years later, the little dragon's cultivation was nearing completion, and it was about to ascend to another realm to find the Bodhisattva Nagarjuna. However, the passage of time only made the king, who already possessed supernatural powers, grow older, and the greed in his heart gradually turned into hatred.
Within the kingdom, legends began to circulate at this time. It was said that when Bodhisattva Nagarjuna departed, he gave the little dragon a secret treasure, enabling the little dragon to cultivate to perfection without calamity or tribulation. Anyone who obtained that treasure would also be able to achieve perfect cultivation and ascend to paradise.
So the king pleaded desperately before the little dragon.
Shortly after his birth, the little dragon began practicing under the tutelage of Nagarjuna. Having never truly witnessed the greed and ugliness of human nature, he refused the king's request and frankly stated that the Dharma was the best treasure.
The king naturally didn't believe it, but the little dragon was now incredibly powerful, almost like a god. Even if the king used the entire power of his kingdom, he couldn't kill this dragon god. The clever king then came up with an interesting idea!
He concocted a peculiar secret potion and sprinkled it on his virgin, stunningly beautiful princess. He also added this potion to the tribute he gave to the little dragon.
One day, the little dragon, having enjoyed the offerings from the mortals, was meditating under the Bodhi tree when he suddenly felt unbearably hot. Just then, the princess was playing in the water, her delicate body becoming even more beautiful, like a white python coiling around him.
The princess had always harbored feelings for the dragon god, and her love ultimately broke the dragon's Buddhist vows. In a moment of pleasure, the dragon became entangled with the princess.
Just then, the king arrived with thousands of people to perform a sacrifice. Witnessing this appalling scene, the king felt no shame. Instead, he threatened the little dragon, saying that if the little dragon handed over the secret treasure, he would order the people to remain silent about it.
If Xiaolong refuses to hand over this treasure, he and thousands of people will spread the news throughout the world. Even if he ascends to another realm, Bodhisattva Nagarjuna will still blame him!
Ultimately, consumed by lust, scheming, and shame, he transformed into a venomous dragon, sacrificing his own Buddhist cultivation to curse the people of this land: that it would be forever shrouded in torrential rain, and that not a single grain of rice would ever grow!
Welcome, Heir! The secrets of Poison Dragon Town await your exploration.
After reading all the text displayed by the system, Ao Peng found himself inside the player teleportation temple. Suddenly, a loud clap of thunder sounded outside, and the dark sky seemed to crack open, with torrential rain pouring down. Floods raged outside, making it impossible for ordinary players to leave the temple.
At this point, the peddler naturally needs to make his appearance.
Ao Peng skillfully walked to the side of Tianlu Shenjun's clone. Tianlu Shenjun said in a servile manner, "This wealthy and powerful guest, would you rather have this dilapidated little wooden boat, or this divine vessel that can traverse torrential rains, or perhaps this treasure ship that can submerge in the Dragon Palace?"
Ao Peng glanced at the prices of the three: the small wooden boat cost 1 incense sticks, the Swift Boat cost 1 incense sticks, and the Treasure Boat cost 10 incense sticks.
As expected, he underestimated Tianlu Shenjun's ability to make money!
The fact that the treasure ship cost 10 incense offerings made Ao Peng's first suspicion that Tianlu Shenjun had raised the price without authorization. Then, after a moment's thought, he seemed to understand something.
The Dragon Palace here is quite special. You should know that even Nagarjuna, the second Shakyamuni, retrieved the Avatamsaka Sutra from the Dragon Palace. This thing is basically equivalent to the top-level Twelve Chapters of the Inner Landscape or the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Plain Women. So spending 10 incense offerings to obtain a clue is really not excessive.
Ao Peng spent 100,000 incense offerings to buy a treasure ship from Tianlu Divine Lord, and then asked, "Divine Lord, this map is a bit strange."
Tianlu God Lord accepted the 100,000 incense offerings with a smile.
"This map seems to provide a lot of information?"
The information provided by the system for the towns that Ao Peng encountered was much less than that for Poison Dragon Town.
Tianlu Divine Lord laughed and said, "Love can become a bondage, and so can knowledge and opinion."
