Along the edge of the field, the adults were busy handing out water, wiping away sweat, and letting the children rest to cool off, but no one kept an eye on the energetic Le Bao.

No matter how much Ranran called from the shore, Le Bao wouldn't listen at all. She stubbornly argued, puffing out her little chest and speaking in a clear, crisp voice:

"Auntie! I'm here to help with the chores! I'm not here to play! I can help you catch fish!"

In Le Bao's eyes, going into the water to catch fish is helping with farm work, and he said it with a straight face.

After saying that, she completely ignored the adults' objections, lifted up her trouser legs, stepped into the soft paddy field mud, and plunged headfirst into the dense rice paddies.

The entire paddy field was golden and lush, with tall and strong rice ears. The rice leaves, half a person's height, were layered upon each other, and in the blink of an eye, they completely swallowed up little Le Bao.

She had no intention of helping with the chores at all; her mind was filled with images of the darting little fish fry.

The rice paddy fish in the paddy fields are incredibly agile, darting around in the shallow water and mud at breakneck speed.

Le Bao hunched over, held her breath, and groped and splashed around in the water, having a great time.

They missed again and again, but were still determined to keep chasing, splashing mud and water everywhere, completely engrossed in the game.

After struggling for a long time, her efforts finally paid off. She seized the opportunity, slammed her hands together, and firmly grabbed the small fish that was trying to escape into the water!

The moment he caught the fish, Le Bao's eyes lit up, and he felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

But the joy lasted only a couple of seconds before my skin started itching uncontrollably.

The dense, sharp rice leaves and the fine hairs along the edges of the rice ears brushed against her exposed arms, legs, neck, and cheeks.

The field was damp and full of mosquitoes. In just over ten minutes, her delicate skin was covered with a large number of red and swollen bumps.

The more you scratch, the itchier it gets; the itchier it gets, the more you want to scratch.

Le Bao, clutching a small fish, stood in the rice paddy, twisting and turning, his little hands rubbing and scratching at his body, his face scrunched up, groaning in discomfort.

Upon seeing this from a distance, Shen Shilan immediately rushed down to the field and scooped the little girl, who had crawled far away and was covered in mud, out of the rice pile.

"I told you not to go to the fields, but you insisted! Now you're itchy and feel the pain?"

Ranran was both annoyed and heartbroken to see the little girl covered in red marks, so she took her home.

After a flurry of activity, I gave Le Bao, who was covered in mud, a hot bath, carefully dried her off, and then applied anti-itch ointment little by little to the red rashes on her body and face.

The ointment is cooling and relieves itching, instantly eliminating the heat and itching on the body.

"You're not allowed to go to the fields tomorrow! Stay home obediently!"

Le Bao nodded obediently, agreeing very readily.

As it turned out, the little brat forgot the pain once the wound healed, and those words didn't last a night.

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, the sun was gentle and not too hot.

The itching from the bumps on her body had completely stopped, and after waking up from her nap, Le Bao's playful and mischievous spirit was once again fully aroused.

While her aunt and grandmother were busy in the kitchen and no one was watching her, she sneaked out of the yard and, with her light little legs, ran to the edge of the field in a flash.

This time she learned her lesson and dared not go into the fields to damage the rice plants or chase fish recklessly again.

She squatted on the dry paddy field ridge, resting her chin on her hand and staring blankly at the muddy water in the field. She held a long, thin twig in her small hand and casually poked and pried at the mud on the ridge, exploring the little secrets of the field when she had nothing to do.

As she pried, her eyes suddenly lit up!

Wow! We've struck gold!

"What is this thing? And it's moving?"

She was incredibly brave and fearless. She used two tree branches to clamp the thing between her fingers and even held it up to examine it closely in the morning light.

A limp, blackish-green, slippery thing was gently wriggling on the branch.

Le Bao became more and more excited as he looked at the screen, his heart filled with joy, thinking to himself that he was having the best luck today!

Meanwhile, in the paddy fields not far away.

Shen Shilan was working hard, harvesting rice with his father-in-law and brother-in-law.

I carried countless bags of grain all morning, and I was so tired that my back ached and I was covered in sweat.

He had just filled a large bag with rice. He bent down and carried the heavy bag, his shoulders slumping slightly, as he prepared to step ashore, put it on his tricycle, and take a break.

He kept his head down and walked forward, his muscles tense, his mind only focused on finishing the work quickly and getting some rest, completely unaware of the little one secretly squatting by the edge of the field.

Just as he was about to step onto the ridge of the field!

Le Bao, who had been squatting on the side for a long time, suddenly had a bright look in his eyes and seized the best opportunity.

She suddenly stood up, tiptoed, raised her small hand high, and directly handed the limp, black and green striped thing in her hand to Shen Shilan's eyes, so close that it was almost touching his face!

Her clear and loud voice suddenly exploded:

"Uncle! Look! I caught something amazing!"

In that instant, time seemed to stand still.

Shen Shilan subconsciously looked up upon hearing the sound.

A round, shiny little face came very close, and then a slippery, twisted, soft, black-green patterned soft creature gently wriggled and swayed from side to side above his eyelids!

A close-up look at the scene!

Shen Shilan's mind went completely blank!

His pupils constricted sharply, his scalp tingled instantly, and every hair on his body stood on end!

Extreme fear surged to the top of my head in an instant!

The next second, his body reacted instinctively, completely out of his control!

"ah--!"

Shen Shilan let out a bloodcurdling scream and leaned back violently!

The heavy sack of grain on his shoulder suddenly lost its weight and crashed heavily into the field with a "thud," scattering a large patch of rice.

He himself completely lost his balance and his buttocks sank!

"Splat—!"

A super loud thud!

Shen Shilan fell hard on his backside into the shallow muddy water of the paddy field!

He was covered in yellow mud when water burst open, splashing mud and water all over his head and face!

He slumped down in the field, legs spread apart, back limp, his face showing shock and despair, his heart pounding wildly, his chest heaving violently, his whole body numb and his limbs weak with fear.

In just two seconds, he lost all his composure and charm, covered in mud from head to toe, looking utterly disheveled.

"Lu! An! Le!"

It took Shen Shilan several seconds to recover from the extreme shock and regain her voice. Her voice was hoarse and trembling, filled with a deep sense of collapse and gritted teeth.

He stared intently at the innocent-looking little girl in front of him, who was proudly showing off her things. His scalp tingled, and goosebumps covered his entire body.

"You little brat! Are you trying to get yourself killed?! Throw it away right now! Immediately!"

He stared at the little creature that was still wriggling, his body stiffened, his back felt cold, and the more he looked, the more his scalp tingled, and even his voice trembled.

Le Bao held up his "trophy" and looked at his uncle, who was covered in mud and looked terrified and devastated. He blinked his innocent big eyes, completely bewildered.

She clearly caught something fun and immediately showed it to her uncle, so why did he react so strongly?

Le Bao wasn't giving up. She took two more steps forward, raised her little hand again, and asked earnestly:

"Uncle, aren't you going to look? It's so soft and fun! I pried it open for ages before I could get it!"

As Shen Shilan watched the approaching, writhing black shadow, her heart stopped in terror. She scrambled backward, her hands bracing against the mud as she retreated frantically, completely losing her composure.

"Don't come any closer!! Get away right now!! I'm begging you, my little darling!!"

Everyone working along the paddy field ridges and in the paddy fields turned around upon hearing the screams—

Shen Shilan, covered in yellow mud and sitting disheveled in the paddy field, was seen with a chubby little girl holding a tree branch and looking innocent.

(Guys, have you guessed what it is yet?)
