Primordial Era: A God-Level Choice, Possessing Zhao Gongming at the Start.

Chapter 388 The Great Dao Oath and the Styx Project

As they passed Chen Jiugong and Yao Shaosi, two barely perceptible streaks of blood-red light flashed by.

Two blood-red, crystal-clear beads have fallen into the hands of Chen Jiugong and Yao Shaosi.

Chen Jiugong and Yao Shaosi exchanged a surprised glance, and with a flick of their wrists, the blood droplets were collected.

Blood Pearl of the Blood Sea is formed from the evil energy of the Blood Sea over millions of years. It is extremely pure and can greatly enhance the strength of the physical body.

Even though Chen Jiugong and Yao Shaosi are now both at the peak of the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm, this blood bead still has a great effect on them.

Inside Luofu Cave, Zhao Gongming saw Minghe walk in and a slight smile appeared on his face.

"When did Fellow Daoist Styx find time to come here?"

Back then, Zhao Gongming used his power to suppress others in the Blood Sea, protecting Mosquito Taoist, and also had a major falling out with Styx.

But as time passed, Zhao Gongming attained enlightenment, and everything turned to dust, disappearing into the long river of history.

Styx smiled slightly and said, "The primordial world was shattered, and the Dao Ancestor divided the world into three realms. It seems that the situation has been stabilized, but the primordial ancestral lineage has been split, which is an indisputable fact."

Zhao Gongming cut to the chase, "Fellow Daoist Styx, please speak your mind."

The Styx River said, "The primordial world has shattered, dividing into three realms. World levels have plummeted, and innate spiritual energy is slowly degenerating into acquired spiritual energy. Cultivation will only become increasingly difficult. Now, the Heavenly Court has conferred titles upon the gods, and the Human, Chan, Jie, and Mahayana Buddhist sects stand in a tripartite balance. However, the Dao Ancestor has decreed that within countless eons, sages cannot take action in the primordial world. I predict that the next battlefield will shift to the sages spreading their teachings and vying for territory."

"I have cultivated the path of slaughter. Since the beginning of time, my subordinates, the Avici and the Yuantu, have slain countless lives, yet only the blood of the Holy One remains unstained."

A bloodthirsty light flashed in Styx's eyes, and an uncontrollable aura of killing intent emanated from him as he explained his thoughts to Zhao Gongming.

After listening, Zhao Gongming roughly understood what the Styx River meant.

Styx is right. In the center of the primordial world, the battle of the saints shattered the ancestral veins of the primordial world.

The primordial world was thus torn apart, and even the combined efforts of all the saints could not stop its rate of division.

Fortunately, the Dao Ancestor intervened and used his supreme power to maintain the shattered primordial world. However, this was only a superficial appearance. The primordial ancestral veins were already fragmented, just like the four continents of today.

Furthermore, the Dao Ancestor decreed that, throughout countless eons, no saint should take action in the primordial world.

This leads to a shift in the power struggles of the Three Realms from overt battles to covert struggles for territory and destiny.

Styx's idea was to take advantage of the great expansion of the various sage lineages, their spread of knowledge, and their struggle for destiny to slaughter the incarnations of sages, thereby perfecting his own path of slaughter and hoping to gain an opportunity to prove himself.

Zhao Gongming thought for a while before answering.

"Fellow Daoist Styx's idea is indeed feasible. You can test it yourself when the time comes. Why bother coming to me?"

Indeed, even if the Styx's attempt to kill the Saint failed, with the Blood Sea as its stronghold, it would have nothing to fear even if the Saint himself came.

Even if a sage wanted to kill Styx, he would have to bear the consequences of the endless evil energy backlash from the sea of blood after Styx's fall. Overall, there was no real worry about the aftermath.

Styx chuckled, "With the Blood Sea at my disposal, I naturally have no worries about the Sage killing me. What I need is for you to help me hold off the Sage at the crucial moment."

After Styx said that, Zhao Gongming understood completely.

What Styx needed his help with was to hold back the rescue of the saint's true form at the moment he slaughtered the saint, so that Styx could complete the final step.

Zhao Gongming thought for a moment, then asked, "Have you decided which saint you want to kill?"

Without hesitation, Styx replied, "Naturally, it is Cundi, the ancestor of all Buddhas in Mahayana Buddhism today."

Styx was very clear about his position. Although he had the help of Abi, Yuan Tu, and 480 million Blood Gods from the Blood Sea, he was rarely matched below the level of a saint.

Those who can attain sainthood all possess formidable abilities, so when it comes to killing saints, the weakest one should naturally be the one to be killed.

Zhao Gongming laughed and said, "Alright, I agree to this."

Styx was taken aback. Zhao Gongming had been cultivating for so many years, yet he had never suffered a loss. In fact, he was prepared for Zhao Gongming to make exorbitant demands, and for him to suffer a huge loss.

Hearing Zhao Gongming say this, he was stunned for a moment and hurriedly asked, "You have no conditions?"

You should know that this is an opportunity to help people attain enlightenment. Even if the success rate is still unclear, it is already of immeasurable value.

Zhao Gongming shook his head, "There are no conditions. I only hope that after Fellow Daoist Styx attains enlightenment, the Jie Sect will have one more ally, and the Underworld will have one more layer of protection."

Styx became even more suspicious. His suspicious nature, which he had developed since the Dragon-Han Calamity, made it impossible for him to believe that Zhao Gongming's conditions were so simple.

Zhao Gongming shrugged. "Indeed, there are no conditions. If Fellow Daoist Styx does not believe me, there is nothing I can do."

Suddenly, Styx seemed to remember something and quickly spoke up, "Regardless of whether this matter succeeds or fails, fellow Daoist, you cannot ask me to do anything in this matter. Do you dare to make a vow to the Great Dao?"

Styx was very wary. He would be relieved if Zhao Gongming made an exorbitant demand, but Zhao Gongming's indifferent and unambitious demeanor made him uneasy.

It should be understood that at their level, every action they take is subject to cause and effect.

Zhao Gongming helped him so much without asking for anything in return, which meant that he owed Zhao Gongming a debt of karma.

This cause and effect may seem insignificant on ordinary days, but it can play a crucial role at critical moments. This is why the Styx River asked Zhao Gongming to make a vow of the Great Dao.

The Great Dao Oath is a vow made in accordance with the Great Dao. Regardless of whether one is a Heavenly Dao Saint, a Primordial Golden Immortal, or a cultivator at an even higher level like Hongjun, all such beings are bound by this oath.

Under the astonished gaze of the Styx River, Zhao Gongming made a vow to the Great Dao without the slightest hesitation. In an instant, a muffled thunderclap resounded above Mount Emei, signifying the Great Dao's approval and the establishment of the vow.

Inside the Luofu Cave, Zhao Gongming asked, "Fellow Daoist Styx, are you satisfied now?"

Styx's smile faded, and he said solemnly, "If this plan to slaughter the saint fails, so be it. But if it succeeds, the Blood Sea will be the most loyal ally of the Intercepting Sect from now on."

Not long after, Styx took his leave, and Zhao Gongming continued his seclusion.

Time flies like an arrow; in the blink of an eye, three thousand years have passed.

The once prosperous and powerful Shang Dynasty, which had subjugated many foreign tribes, eventually declined from its peak.

The last Shang king was incompetent and tyrannical, indulging in debauchery and extravagance, which destabilized the dynasty. At this critical moment, a rebel army rose up, killed the Shang king, and seized the throne, plunging the entire country into chaos.

In Chaoge, the capital of the Shang Dynasty, the Shang king finally realized what was happening and hurriedly dispatched a large army to quell the rebellion, but it was already too late.

With the national treasury empty, treacherous officials causing chaos, and even military pay not being paid, who will risk their lives for you?

Six months after the uprising, the Shang Dynasty officially collapsed.

On the shores of the East Sea, the ancestral land of humanity, a sigh appeared on the faces of many ancient human sages.

Over thousands of years, the world has changed dramatically. Even a powerful dynasty like the Shang Dynasty eventually collapsed.

On the contrary, Di Xin took it all in stride, saying, "Dynasties change, the sun and moon revolve, as long as our human race's holy temple remains immortal, the human race's heritage will not be broken."
