A dark green military jeep sped along the highway leading to Harbin.

The car was going incredibly fast. Lu Weidong gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands, quickly changing lanes between oncoming vehicles, revving the engine to its maximum, and the exhaust pipe was emitting blue smoke.

"Oh dear..." Wang Hao couldn't help but grab the car door, his face turning pale.

He was shaken so badly that his stomach churned, and he swallowed hard several times, but looking at Lu Weidong's icy face, he didn't dare to utter a sound.

After a long pause, he managed to squeeze out a soft voice: "Chief of Staff, it's alright... Didn't my elder brother and sister-in-law already go to see my sister-in-law? Don't worry, safety comes first... I'm still thinking about getting married."

In response, Lu Weidong floored the accelerator once again.

With a roar, the engine shot off like an arrow.

In the international hotel room, Wang Yingxue had just bought some watermelons from the fruit shop across the street. They were juicy and would make it easy for Ye Wenxi to quickly replenish her fluids.

Ye Wenxi was leaning against the headboard when Ding Jiahe cut a piece of food for her and was about to put it in her mouth.

Knock, knock, knock. Someone is knocking on the door.

Wang Yingxue walked over, opened the door, and stood there stunned.

A man and a woman were standing outside the door.

The man was wearing a military uniform, was in his thirties, and his shoulder insignia indicated a high rank.

The woman was wearing a light blue short-sleeved shirt, carrying a large bag of fruit in one hand and a cloth bag in the other.

"Hello," the man in military uniform said in a steady voice, "Is Comrade Ye Wenxi here?"

Ye Wenxi sat on the bed, unable to see the doorway, but upon hearing the sound—

"Big brother?!" She almost jumped out of bed.

Wang Yingxue quickly stepped aside, saying, "Please come in, both of you."

Lu Weiguo and Li Shufen quickly entered the room.

Li Shufen spotted Ye Wenxi on the bed and rushed over with a cry of "Oh dear!": "You've got heatstroke! Let me touch you, are you feeling better now?"

Ye Wenxi blinked at the two of them: "Wait... what brings you two here?"

Lu Weiguo pursed his lips, his expression clearly saying, "What do you think?"

Ye Wenxi: "...Is he also heading here?"

Lu Weiguo raised his wrist and glanced at the time.

"He's probably already left," Lu Weiguo finally said. "He called both of our units before he left, telling us to come and check on him as soon as possible. He was really worried about him."

Ye Wenxi turned to look at Ding Jiahe, her eyes saying—was it you who made the call?

Ding Jiahe chuckled: "I just didn't expect you to recover so quickly. What if you needed to go to the hospital?"

"Besides, with Lu Weidong's personality, if he finds out I didn't tell him, he'll probably give me a hard time when he gets back."

These words made Lu Weiguo and Li Shufen burst out laughing.

It must be said that this woman's analysis of her younger brother's personality was quite accurate.

Ye Wenxi said to Lu Weiguo and Li Shufen, "Brother and sister-in-law, I'm really fine. I have colleagues here to take care of me."

She turned to Wang Yingxue and introduced them: "Xiaoxue, this is Weidong's older brother, Lu Weiguo, and his wife, Li Shufen. Brother and sister-in-law, this is our colleague, Wang Yingxue. You've all met Jiahe before."

Wang Yingxue quickly greeted them: "Hello, Brother Lu, hello, Sister-in-law Lu."

Li Shufen smiled and nodded, placing the bag of fruit on the table. She then reached out and touched Ye Wenxi's forehead: "How are you feeling now?"

"I'm much better," Ye Wenxi threw the orange peels into the wastebasket, waved to Wang Yingxue, "Xiaoxue, Jiahe, go eat. I'm fine. My sister-in-law and the others are here with me."

Wang Yingxue hesitated for a moment, and before she could speak, Lu Weiguo interjected, "We're here to pick you up. Weidong said we should take you home."

Ye Wenxi: "........."

Ye Wenxi learned from Ding Jiahe that Wang Hao was also on his way here.

The two plan to go shopping together tomorrow, visiting export stores to buy wedding supplies.

She turned to Wang Yingxue and said, "Xiaoxue, you're free to do whatever you want tomorrow. Take a day off."

Wang Yingxue said, "I have nothing to do here. I'll continue sourcing renovation materials tomorrow. You should get some rest."

"Okay, I'll see how it goes."

So Ye Wenxi packed her things and got into the car with Lu Weiguo and Li Shufen.

"I called Aunt Sun before I left and asked her to make some cold noodles. You should eat something when you get home," Li Shufen said to her as she sat in the passenger seat.

Ye Wenxi nodded: "Okay, I've recovered a lot now, and I'm actually a bit hungry."

"Look at the mess this has made, causing trouble for so many of you, and even making him make a special trip."

Back at the Lu family home, Aunt Sun had already placed a bowl of cold noodles on the table, topped with shredded cucumber, and a plate of chilled tomato chunks sprinkled with sugar—all refreshing and easy to digest.

Ye Wenxi ate most of the bowl and felt much better, so she went back to her room and lay down.

Today was truly exhausting for her; she fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.

In a daze, I heard heavy, rapid footsteps in the stairwell, followed by the door being slammed open.

Ye Wenxi turned her head sharply and saw Lu Weidong, dressed in military uniform, standing at the door looking at her anxiously.

He strode in and slammed the door shut.

"I'm really fine," Ye Wenxi said, lying in bed.

It seemed that Lu Weidong finally let out the breath he had been holding in all the way after seeing her that one glance.

Lu Weidong sighed, slowly walked to the bedside and sat down. He reached out and took Ye Wenxi's hand, touching it and then feeling her forehead: "Are you still nauseous? Are you feeling unwell?"

Ye Wenxi shook her head: "I've already eaten a big bowl of noodles, I'm really fine."

When Lu Weidong heard that she had eaten noodles, he knew that there was no major problem, and finally a smile appeared on his lips.

"Did Wang Hao come back with you?"

"Yes, he drove to the International Hotel to find Ding Jiahe."

Lu Weidong brushed a stray hair from Ye Wenxi's ear, his fingertips brushing against her cheek, his voice tinged with reproach: "Why are you working so hard? You don't even know to rest when you're not feeling well."

"You can't just come back halfway through looking at the building materials market outside the city," Ye Wenxi muttered to him, leaning back on the headboard. "I was just thinking of seeing it all in one go. By the way, I have a few things I want to tell you."

She sat up a little straighter: "Jiahe and I have been nominated as candidates for the March 8th Red Banner Pacesetter Award in our military region. We are the only two candidates in the entire region."

Lu Weidong raised an eyebrow, looking surprised: "Really? Who pushed you up there?"

"Sister Yunxia," Ye Wenxi said, "she secretly signed us up."

"Oh..." Lu Weidong drawled, then nodded. "Then we really have to thank your wife, sister-in-law. This is a good thing."

Ye Wenxi blinked and stared at him: "Just a few days ago you were joking with me, saying why no one was giving me an award. What a coincidence!"

Lu Weidong looked at her with a grin: "Yeah, what a coincidence!"

Ye Wenxi stared at his expression for two seconds, stunned.

Suddenly, she realized what was happening.
