Chapter 192 The Birth of Sun Wukong, Chu Feng's Modified Journey to the West

Time passed quickly, and the Eastern Han Dynasty arrived in the blink of an eye.

The mountains and forests are serene and the bamboo is lush. On a mountaintop, a rock that looks like it's squatting suddenly cracked open.

Instantly, light flowed, and dazzling five-colored light burst forth, engulfing that area and forming mist and haze that meandered outwards, carrying a gentle power.

"Splash!"

As all the outer layer of stone peeled away, the little monkey, curled up and hugging itself, slowly opened its eyes from within the purple source stone.

"boom"

His eyes shone with golden light, like two celestial swords slashing out, piercing through all the heavens and myriad worlds, exhaling astonishing energy. As he stretched out his limbs, the purple source stone exploded with a bang.

Stone fragments flew everywhere, soil and rocks crumbled, and all the trees struck by the purple jade were broken.

The monkey was ten feet long, with a hunched body, its entire body shimmering with a reddish-gold hue, its fur as brilliant as gold, each hair glistening, and its aura emanating an astonishing power.

Soon, the golden light around him vanished, and his body shrank rapidly at a visible speed until it reached the size of a child.

The monkey stared blankly at the distant waterfall, sniffing the air. Suddenly, its sharp ears twitched; it had heard a sound.

Suddenly, several figures leaped out from the depths of the dense forest. The little monkey moved swiftly, lying on the ground alertly. The bloodshot in its eyes had not yet faded, and it glared at the figures in the darkness with slightly red eyes, baring its teeth.

"hiss"

The monkey lay on its back with its limbs spread out on the ground, its body arched, its sharp teeth bared and gleaming red, more dangerous than swords.

"Rustling."

As those figures drew closer, one of them, a full ten feet tall, led the way, its ferocious aura, even more ferocious than that of a bear or tiger, instantly pounced.

As he stepped out of the darkness, bathed in the bright sunlight, the little monkey, who had been wary, suddenly opened his eyes wide, raised his head high, and looked on in confusion.

"It's a little monkey." A monkey came from afar, hooking onto a tree trunk, and spoke in a human voice.

The lead monkey pondered for a moment and said, "Let's take him back. He's one of our own kind after all. How can we leave him here? The rest of you, continue searching for the source of that divine light."

At the old monkey's call, a group of monkeys set off to search.

The little monkey, puzzled, was placed on the old monkey's shoulder and turned to enter the forest.

After that, the little monkey learned the art of human speech from the old monkey and became friends with the other monkeys.

In just a few years, the little monkey became unbeatable. Despite being only half a zhang tall, he possessed the strength to fight tigers and bears, and even the old monkeys were no match for him.

One day, while out and about, the little monkey discovered a cave.

The cave was located behind the waterfall; it was incredibly spacious and contained stone tables, stone beds, and other such items.

The old monkey rushed over and examined it closely, deducing that it was a cave left behind by immortals, which had been abandoned for many years.

"Then can we stay here?"

The little monkey chuckled as its tail hung upside down from the vine.

The old monkey nodded and said, "That's fine. With this cave, we won't have to live a life of hardship in the future."

"There are words here!" a monkey shouted from afar.

The old monkey and the little monkey quickly approached, and the group of monkeys pried open the long-withered vines. As they did so, the vines fell down like a veil, and the monkeys scattered in a flurry.

"Huaguo Mountain is a blessed land, and the Water Curtain Cave is a celestial paradise."

The little monkey squatted in front of the stone table, looking at the couplets on the left and right sides of the mountain wall, feeling puzzled.

He looked at the old monkey and asked, "Is this truly the abode of immortals?"

"It must be," the old monkey said confidently. "Judging from the writing, it must have been left by a human immortal."

"Human immortals?" the little monkey asked in confusion. "Humans have immortals?"

"Although the human race is weak nowadays, and even warriors are no match for us, the human race used to be full of immortals. Don't underestimate them," the old monkey patiently explained.

The little monkey was puzzled, but after hearing this, it didn't take it to heart. It just thought the place was nice and went to play with the other monkeys.

Several years later.

The old monkey's life is coming to an end.

That day, the little monkey looked at the old monkey, who was on the verge of death and whose face was full of pain, and asked in confusion, "What's wrong with you?"

"I'm about to die," the old monkey said with a bitter smile.

"Death?" the little monkey asked疑惑地, "What is death?"

The old monkey's voice was hoarse as he said, "We are both living beings, and where there is birth, there is death. In all these years you have not seen any living being die, and you are completely ignorant of what death is."

The little monkey frowned and asked, "Will you leave us?"

"Yes," the old monkey said with all its might.

"I don't want you to leave," the little monkey said, tears welling in its eyes. "I don't want you to die either."

The old monkey stretched out his rough, large hand, pressed and stroked the little monkey's head, and said, "In this world, only immortals are immortal; this is us."

Before he could finish speaking, the old monkey breathed its last, and the hand that was holding the little monkey slowly fell to the ground, kicking up dust.

The little monkey swallowed hard, then nudged the old monkey, but the old monkey did not react at all.

After that day, the little monkey realized that the old monkey had really left him.

He sat at the entrance of the Water Curtain Cave for days, his former joy gone.

One day, when the morning light was just beginning to break.

The little monkey suddenly jumped up from the huddled-up sleeping group and shouted, "I want to become an immortal! I don't want to die, and I don't want you to die either!!"

The little monkey's voice echoed for a long time in the empty Water Curtain Cave, waking up all the monkeys.

After receiving guidance from an older monkey, the little monkey boarded a bamboo raft and ventured into the waves in search of the secret to immortality.

On the sea, the little monkey waved to the other monkeys and shouted, "Don't worry, I'll be back soon. As long as I find the secret to immortality, none of us will have to die!"

The little monkey went out to sea.

After weathering storms and experiencing both warmth and cold, crossing seas and mountains, we finally saw the crescent moon and three stars.

He begged Bodhi to teach him the art of immortality. For several years, the little monkey knelt in front of the door and did not leave, until his knees were covered with flesh and blood and became one with the ground.

When another cold winter came, the Bodhi Patriarch personally arrived and accepted the little monkey as his disciple.

Just as the little monkey was paying homage to the Crescent Moon and Three Stars, Chu Feng also began to take action.

After waiting for several years, Chu Feng drastically altered the content of Journey to the West and had Suiren take it to the Dragon Palace, where he used his magic to infuse the content into the Ruyi Jingu Bang (Golden Cudgel).

The Dragon King naturally dared not offend Suirenshi upon his arrival, nor did he dare to ask why he had done so.

Several years have passed.

The little monkey was named Sun Wukong, learned the Seventy-Two Transformations and the art of immortality, and returned to the Water Curtain Cave of Flower Fruit Mountain.

Sun Wukong's return, raising his battle flag and displaying his formidable reputation, attracted demons from all directions to offer their congratulations.

At the banquet, the demons learned that Sun Wukong had no magical weapons, so they suggested going to the Dragon Palace to ask for them.

Sun Wukong's eyes darted around, and he headed straight for the East Sea, following the waterfall outside Flower Fruit Mountain.

With Yinglong's prior notice, the Four Dragon Kings gave Sun Wukong the Ruyi Jingu Bang (Golden Cudgel) according to the original plan.

When Sun Wukong obtained the Ruyi Jingu Bang (the magic staff), all the content of the Journey to the West, which was modified in a drastic way, was poured into his mind.

When Sun Wukong learned of the changes Chu Feng had made, he mistakenly believed that he had seen the future.

In later depictions, Sun Wukong sees himself causing havoc in the Heavenly Palace, being suppressed by the Buddha, and then escorting Tang Sanzang on his journey to the West to attain Buddhahood.

In the end, however, he was imprisoned by all the Buddhas and the Heavenly Emperor, and the Six-Eared Macaque replaced him as the Victorious Fighting Buddha.

"I have already attained immortality, how can I allow you to harm me like this!" Sun Wukong gritted his teeth, sitting on the Monkey King's throne, his eyes blazing with fury, vowing to change the suffering he would endure in his next life.
