The night in Ruicheng is damp and sticky.

The name "Duantoupo" (Broken Head Slope) is unsettling. It's a mass grave on the outskirts of the city, where the low barking of stray dogs echoes through the sparse woods.

When Su Ming arrived at the agreed time, a one-eyed man was squatting on a lonely grave, slowly smoking a pipe.

The man was about forty years old, thin but with firm, well-defined muscles. He wore a vest stained with oil, and a ferocious dragon tattoo adorned his bare arm. This was Blind Li.

Upon seeing Su Ming, Blind Li narrowed his one eye, sizing him up as if assessing his abilities.

A student? He had fair skin and delicate features, carried a backpack, and wore black-rimmed glasses. He looked even more frail than in the photos.

This kind of creature wouldn't last three days in Angla.

"Kid, you've got guts, coming all by yourself?" Blind Li exhaled a puff of smoke, his voice hoarse.

Su Ming didn't answer, but just looked at him quietly.

Blind Li stood up, walked up to Su Ming, and was half a head taller than him. A strong smell of cheap tobacco and sweat wafted over him.

"Do you understand the rules? For a deal worth 500,000, I'll take 30%. Also, the toll is 100,000. Pay first, then we'll get the job done." He stretched out his rough hand, his eyes full of greed and disdain.

This is a common tactic used by human traffickers: raising prices arbitrarily and catering to different customers.

Su Ming adjusted his glasses and calmly asked, "Is the old carpenter's wood shavings used for lighting cigarettes or for guiding the way?"

The code was matched.

The fat on Blind Li's face twitched, but his greed did not subside: "The code is right, and the money is in place. In this place, money talks."

"I can give you the money," Su Ming suddenly said, "but I want to know, is the red clay on the sole of your left shoe from the 'Red Clay Brick Factory' in the west of the city, or from the 'Blood Rose' you planted for your daughter in your backyard?"

Li the Blind Man's expression changed drastically, his one eye widened suddenly, revealing a fierce glint.

His daughter suffers from a rare blood disease, requiring constant blood transfusions and expensive medication. He took this dangerous business to pay for her treatment. His greatest wish, however, is to grow a patch of her favorite red roses in his barren backyard. This is his biggest secret, and his only weakness.

How did this student know that?

"You fucking investigated me?!" Blind Li's voice suddenly rose, and his hand at his waist had already reached for the hilt of the knife at his back.

"No, I'm just observing." Su Ming's tone remained as calm as if he were discussing the weather. "There's dirt residue on your hands, and extremely fine red pollen under your fingernails. The smell of medicine on you isn't from your own use, because your breathing is steady, and you don't have any signs of being a patient. This medicine is Herceptin, a targeted drug for treating blood diseases. It's very expensive, and it's difficult to buy through legitimate channels in China."

Su Ming paused, his gaze falling on Blind Li's taut hands.

"So, you're not just doing it for the money; you're doing it to save lives. So am I."

Blind Li's hand froze.

He had spent over a decade navigating the border regions, encountering ruthless individuals and desperate criminals, but never anyone like this. A few details were enough to expose his true nature completely.

This isn't a student, this is a monster!

Fear overshadowed the greed and anger in his heart.

"What do you want?" Blind Li's voice was dry.

"I don't want anything." Su Ming took out a bottle of mineral water from his backpack, unscrewed it, and took a sip. "I need a guide, an absolutely loyal guide who knows the terrain of Angla well. After the job is done, I'll give you half of the 500,000 bounty. Also, I can get you enough Herceptin for your daughter for three years, the original brand."

Li the Blind's one eye was filled with shock and disbelief: "You? You could get your hands on that?"

"I'm always very accurate when it comes to finding people." Su Ming didn't explain much. He had an extremely strong information retrieval ability, enough to find the most reliable drug sellers on the dark web.

Blind Li fell silent. He looked at the young man before him; beneath his frail appearance lay an unfathomable sharpness.

Half the reward, plus his daughter's life-saving medicine. He couldn't refuse this offer.

More importantly, he dared not refuse.

"Okay... I promise you." Blind Li squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth, his posture changing from looking down to looking up. "How do you want to get across? The fastest waterway, but things are tense lately, it'll cost extra."

Su Ming shook his head: "Smuggling? That would cause too much of a commotion."

"How else can you cross the border? Do you expect to go through a legitimate port with a tour group?" Blind Li thought the student must be crazy.

Su Ming looked at him, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"No, I left the country legally."

He calmly said, "Didn't you plant an informant in District K? Have him forge an identity for me, saying I'm a 'piglet' lured here with a high salary. Then, you 'sell' me to the recruiters in District K."

Blind Li was completely dumbfounded.

He stared blankly at Su Ming, his mind buzzing.

And this kind of operation?

Did they deliberately let themselves be arrested? Did they send themselves to hell on earth like cargo?

He suddenly understood the meaning of Su Ming's words.

This is not illegal immigration.

For Su Ming, this meant that, under the watchful eyes of everyone, he was riding in a private car, swaggering out of the country in a "legitimate" manner, and heading straight to his destination.

Blind Li shuddered. Looking at Su Ming's delicate face, he felt for the first time that this face was more terrifying than any scarred face he had ever seen.

"Let's go," Su Ming patted his shoulder, "take me to see your people."
