Chapter 30 The Merchant's Little Bell

Xiao Lingdang and Zhuohua had known each other for a long time. She was worldly and naturally understood the status of the salamanders in the Wall Abyss.

To be honest, Little Bell was quite surprised when she saw a man come out of the cave. Moreover, there was a hint of a leader among the group of beastmen, which was quite intriguing.

But why did that guy grin like an idiot the moment he saw me? Could he be a pervert...?

[Bell's Affection Level -5]!

Wang Yan, noticing the reminder, snapped out of his daze and realized his mistake, quickly averting his gaze. Zhuo Hua then spoke:

"Lingdang, this is our newest member. His name is Wang Yan, and like you, he is a human."

Bell nodded slightly, then asked with some doubt, "Humans? Are they savages we recently recruited? They seem... a little unlike it."

Zhuohua naturally understood the bell's indirect hints about Wang Yan's identity, but simply shook her head slightly and explained:

"He was a lost traveler. I thought he was alright-looking, so I caught him and used him for mating. I just kept him as a pet."

The mating was real, and his looks were also real, but everything else was fake. The reason Zhuohua explained to Lingdang with a mix of truth and falsehood was that she didn't want her to know Wang Yan's identity and abilities. Although Lingdang knew her, she was still a traveling merchant. If she found out about Wang Yan's background, that information might be packaged and sold as a commodity one day.

After all, it's truly unbelievable that someone could conjure food out of thin air.

Hearing Zhuohua's explanation, Lingdang finally understood what Wang Yan's look meant. So he was a womanizer, and he had just been with Yiyin.

[Bell's Affection Level -10]!

Wang Yan: ......

Lingdang's disgust was palpable. She believed most of what Zhuohua said, and then stopped mentioning the topic and began to negotiate a deal with Zhuohua.

"I brought lots of good stuff with me this time, come up and take a look!"

Zhuohua nodded and took out the baskets she had woven and the dried fruit she was selling, handing them to Lingdang for inspection.

Lingdang glanced at it, silently calculated a price for a moment, and said to Zhuohua:

"These items are worth less than 1000 silver, but I'll round it up for you and just say 1000."

Zhuohua had no objection to the price. Although Xiaolingdang was a shrewd merchant, at least she had never cheated her. She nodded, agreeing that the price was fair.

The cloud whale was a blue-green gradient, about 30 meters long, comparable in size to a blue whale. However, compared to the blue whale, the cloud whale's fins were much wider, like wings. Its back was flat and open, and it was tied to a detachable wooden platform. On this platform, a warehouse of moderate size was built, which looked just like a sky fortress.

The bell whistled at the cloud whale, which understood and moved closer to the edge of the cliff. Its large fins were placed on the edge, like a deck, allowing people to climb onto the platform behind it.

The little beast girls had seen cloud whales before, so they didn't react much. But it was Wang Yan's first time. Even on Earth, he had only seen such a giant creature in documentaries. Only when he got close to it did he truly realize how insignificant he was.

However, Wang Yan didn't say much. He followed the little beast girls onto the fins and went to the back of the cloud whale to select items.

Since Zhuohua intends to conceal his identity, he will follow Zhuohua's wishes and simply follow behind the little beast girls, playing the role of a "stud." After all, they are his own wives, how could they possibly betray him?

Once on the back of the cloud whale, the bell opened the warehouse door. When Wang Yan saw the dazzling array of goods on the shelves, even though he was used to supermarkets and department stores on Earth, he couldn't help but be amazed.

The warehouse shelves are styled like those of the Western Middle Ages, with wooden shelves filled with food, daily necessities, and handicrafts. It's hard to imagine how so many things are kept stable behind such a large whale-shaped structure.

Normally, Zhuohua would exchange all the money she earned for potatoes, and occasionally only for some daily necessities. But now it's different. With Wang Yan's abilities, Zhuohua definitely won't pay attention to food anymore. She just casually came to Wang Yan's side, and Wang Yan immediately understood what she meant. She wanted him to decide what to buy.

The little beast girls had already scattered, and now they no longer had to worry about food. Zhuohua had promised them beforehand that each of them could choose one item to buy when the merchants came this year, so only Zhuohua accompanied Wang Yan to choose.

Currently, the little beast girls, including Zhuohua, all follow Wang Yan's lead, so naturally they wouldn't presume to obey his orders, given Wang Yan's abilities are evident to all. If it were up to Wang Yan's plan, he would have already figured out what he was missing. Following Zhuohua around a few times, he wasn't disappointed; he found what he wanted.

"Hmm? Zhuohua, what's going on this year? I haven't seen you exchange the grain; why are you buying all this?"

As the group made their selections, Zhuohua took a jar of coarse salt, two simple spindles, and a plane, along with other miscellaneous items they had bought. Apart from Zhizhi taking a bag of biscuits, there was no other food to be seen.

Zhuohua had naturally prepared her explanation beforehand and said to Lingdang:

"A few days ago, I broke through to the second meridian due to some coincidences. Just these past few days, I encountered a ferocious beast. After slaughtering it, I no longer lacked food. I can use it to exchange for some things that the girls like and some useful tools."

Bell looked at the spindle and plane in her hand, narrowed her eyes, and said nothing more, only chuckled softly:

"Hehe, that's great news! Congratulations!"

The two exchanged pleasantries, each understanding the other's unspoken thoughts, but neither dared to point them out. They chatted for a few moments, mostly trivial matters, before finally Lingdang nodded and said:

"That's 954 silver in total. I'll give you the last 46 silver in change later."

But Zhuohua waved her hand, interrupting the bell, and said to her, "I have something else I want to buy." Zhuohua paused, a hint of mystery in her peach-red eyes: "How much would you charge for information about the recent increase in the strength of the alien beasts and the descent of the ferocious beasts?"

Lingdang wasn't too surprised by this, as if she had expected Zhuohua to ask such a question, and spread her hands, saying:

"Well... you've come to the right person. I did specifically inquire about this beforehand, but I need to correct you beforehand: the transformation of the beast into a stronger being and the migration of the ferocious beast are two separate things, and they require two different prices."

At this point, a sly glint appeared in Bell's eyes: "The average price is... 1000 silver!"
