Deep Fog Kiss

Chapter 89 Leaving a Mark on the Lips

A custom-made, all-black Maybach drove at a steady speed on the wide road.

The man in the back seat parted his thin lips slightly, "Has the matter from yesterday been investigated thoroughly?"

"I've found out, boss," Yin Ming replied as he drove. "Yesterday, Miss Li met with several entertainment company bosses, was forced to drink, and it seems the cooperation didn't go through. In the end, Miss Li stormed off and left."

Gu Zhishen's eyes darkened slightly. It turned out that the "bullying" she mentioned when she was drunk last night was referring to those old fools who didn't know their own mortality.

"Looks like they've had too much free time lately."

Gu Zhishen's voice was cold, "Find those old geezers something to do."

Yin Ming quickly understood what he meant, "Yes, boss."

He glanced at the man in the rearview mirror, his gaze returning to the man's mouth.

He noticed it as soon as he got on the bus, but he didn't ask about it, though he couldn't help but glance at it a few more times.

In the rearview mirror, the man's eyes swept over and met Yin Ming's gaze.

"What's wrong?" Gu Zhishen asked.

"Boss," Yin Ming glanced at his cracked lip, "Have you applied any medicine to your lips?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Zhishen's eyes flashed. He raised his hand and lightly touched his lips. The sensation of her biting him last night still seemed to linger on his lips, as did the fleeting kiss she gave him this morning. The fragrance still remained on his lips.

He cleared his throat. "It's nothing."

Yin Ming quickly looked away. Even if he hadn't seen what happened in the car last night, he knew how the boss had managed to get away with it.

He had been working for the boss for many years and knew about 70-80% of the relationship between the boss and Miss Li.

The sweeter things were before, the more distant they became recently.

He simply didn't know why Miss Li had suddenly gone abroad, nor how their relationship had improved.

However, this was not something he should inquire about.

He just felt that Miss Pear had been a little too rough last night, leaving marks on the boss's lips.

The boss has always avoided scandals and is extremely self-disciplined.

Such aloof and self-possessed person in a high position, yet leaving ambiguous traces in his words, inevitably leads to unfounded speculation and wild guesses from outsiders.

The man in the back seat didn't seem to care about any of this. He seemed to be thinking about something, and his expression softened, with a faint smile appearing in his eyes.

......

Whether it was because she stole a kiss from Gu Zhishen or obtained the list of key clients, Jiang Li was in an excellent mood from the moment she left the house.

All the way to the company, she had a bright smile on her face.

As soon as I arrived at the office, there was already a cup of hot coffee on my desk.

"My ancestors!"

Shen Nianchu hurried over in her high heels, looked Jiang Li up and down, and asked quickly, "Where did you go last night? Did you drink?"

"Let's not talk about that." Jiang Li quickly changed the subject, her eyes serious. "Chu Chu, we need to investigate who's behind Aurora Films. This person is definitely deliberately going against us, and they're quite powerful."

She remembered what the female boss had told her last night—"Who's making things difficult for your company?"

This is someone no one can afford to offend.

Shen Nianchu's eyes darkened slightly. If it wasn't her own father, she really couldn't imagine who it was.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

The screenwriters are Liao Sisi, a full-time screenwriter, and Hao Qing, an assistant screenwriter.

Liao Sisi was hired through an online interview when Jiang Li was abroad.

Although her scripts aren't the kind that immediately wow you, they're very inspired, and she's humble, diligent, and inquisitive.

She would learn and listen attentively to everything Jiang Li taught her.

Jiang Li thought highly of her, so in just three months, she promoted her from assistant screenwriter to full-time screenwriter, and worked with Jiang Li on projects and scripts.

Hao Qing just joined the studio last month and was assigned to be Liao Sisi's assistant screenwriter.

Jiang Li noticed her unnatural expression and asked, "What's wrong, Sisi?"

"Sister Li, President Shen."

Liao Sisi glanced at the two of them, handed over the things she was holding, and said, "I'm sorry."

Jiang Li looked over and saw it was a resignation letter.

Jiang Li didn't answer, but frowned slightly. "Sisi, Hao Qing, are you resigning?"

"I'm sorry, Sister Li." Liao Sisi looked guilty. "Thank you for your guidance and recognition over the past few months, Mr. Shen. However, I've recently been considering my career path and have decided to resign. Thank you."

She bowed deeply, her attitude sincere.

Jiang Li looked at her for two seconds and asked, "Just because of this? No other reason?"

Liao Sisi pursed her lips, shook her head, and insisted on giving her resignation to Jiang Li without saying a word.

"Sisi doesn't want to talk about it, so I will."

Hao Qing, who was standing next to him, also handed over a resignation letter, which stated succinctly, "We don't want to work here anymore."

Upon hearing this, Shen Nianchu frowned. "What do you mean you don't want to work here anymore?"

"We all know that the company's core clients have all left in the past few days, and we haven't taken on any projects. Now the whole team is just sitting around doing nothing."

Hao Qing put it bluntly, "At this rate, the company won't last more than a few months. We might not even be able to pay next month's salaries."

"We're here to work and earn money, not to work for free. Since this company is going out of business, why can't we plan ahead and switch to another company?"

Her words were so passionate that they attracted the attention of her colleagues, who all came over to see what was going on.

When assistant Xing Ke heard Hao Qing's words, she was furious. They all thought the company was about to collapse, so they all wanted to run away.

She quickly stepped forward and said to Hao Qing, "What are you saying? When did our studio go bankrupt? Sister Li and President Shen are both here, how could it possibly go bankrupt?"

"The studio is facing some difficulties right now, but the two bosses haven't been mistreating us. They haven't laid off anyone or cut salaries. Except for you, Liao Sisi!"

Xing Ke pointed at Liao Sisi, "Sister Li just gave you a raise last month, and now you want to resign because of some company issues? You're going too far!"

"What did I do that was excessive?" Liao Sisi suddenly retorted excitedly. "I got a raise because I did a good job. Shouldn't I get a promotion and a raise because I work hard? Now I've said it, I have career planning issues, I want to resign, is that not allowed?"

"Exactly!" Hao Qing chimed in. "This studio was already on the verge of collapse. Can't we at least think about ourselves first? If you guys want to keep going, then keep going. Don't cry if the company runs away tomorrow and you don't get a single penny."

Xing Kezheng, her face flushed and neck red, exclaimed, "The studio won't go under! President Shen has secured investment from Tianze Capital, and the cooperation is about to be finalized!"

The group was arguing endlessly when Shen Nianchu's phone rang.

She answered the phone, her brows suddenly furrowing deeply. "What?"

After hearing what was said on the other end of the phone, she and Jiang Li exchanged a serious glance before she left the office to make the call.

"The collaboration with Tianze Capital is definitely over!" Hao Qing suddenly spoke up, his voice not quiet. "Stop daydreaming. How could such a large capital company as Tianze Capital collaborate with this small studio?"

She rolled her eyes at Xing Ke, "Anyway, I'm resigning, so it's up to you whether I resign or not."

Jiang Li ignored her words. Hao Qing's abilities weren't particularly noteworthy anyway, and Jiang Li could sign the resignation papers immediately if she wanted to.

But she did put a lot of effort into cultivating Liao Sisi.

"Sisi."

Jiang Li stood in front of Liao Sisi, looking at her calmly. "I'll ask you one last time, are you really going to resign?"

"Yes, Sister Li." Liao Sisi replied without hesitation.

Jiang Li nodded, took the two resignation letters, and looked at them coldly. "Resignation is fine, but I only have two sentences to say."

"First, once you leave Echo, no matter how Echo develops in the industry, you will never be hired by Echo again."

Hao Qing smiled dismissively; she had no intention of ever coming back to this small studio.

Liao Sisi pursed her lips, and after two seconds, nodded.

"Second," Jiang Li glanced at them, her voice growing colder, "is your next employer Aurora Films?"
