Deep Fog Kiss

Chapter 7 Will You Marry Me?

She suddenly looked up and saw that the private room was empty except for the silent night.

But the faint scent of cool wood still lingered in the air, invading every cell and nerve in her body.

She breathed softly, a strange bittersweet feeling welling up in her chest.

Jiang Li blinked. Had she drunk too much? How could she smell Gu Zhishen's scent?

Each pavilion in Buyun Tower has its own restroom, located outside the private rooms, a one-minute walk away.

The moonlight illuminated the winding cobblestone path outside the private room. Jiang Li walked to the restroom, stepping on the dappled moonlight.

I braced my hands on the marble sink countertop, with the light shining overhead.

Jiang Li looked at the person in the mirror. Her beautiful face had delicate features, and the light makeup added to her radiance.

Because of the alcohol, her bright almond-shaped eyes were a little hazy, and her fair and translucent skin was flushed with a faint red.

They look rather pitiful.

She smiled faintly, revealing a small dimple at the corner of her mouth.

Yet, even someone like her couldn't stir up Gu Zhishen's cold heart.

I glanced at the time; the real show in the private room was about to begin.

She touched up her makeup and walked out of the restroom.

Just as I reached the door, a strong smell of tobacco mixed with a hint of mint wafted over.

In the distance, there were also a few faint wisps of that familiar, cool woody scent.

In the darkness ahead, a crimson dot flickered between light and shadow.

Jiang Li's heart skipped a beat, and she stared intently at the scene.

The man's tall and slender figure almost blended into the night. He casually leaned against a wooden pillar carved with totems, one hand in his pocket, the other hanging naturally at his side. His wrist was exquisitely shaped, and his long fingers held a lit cigarette. He exuded an aura of nobility, coldness, and inviolability.

The surroundings were so quiet that the only sounds were the rustling of leaves in the wind and the pounding of Jiang Li's heart.

No matter how much time has passed, every move the man makes can stir her heart.

Gu Zhishen stubbed out the cigarette between his fingers, turned his head to look at her, and met her bright eyes.

"Don't you recognize me?"

His voice was deep and cold, like the deep sea in winter, sending chills down one's spine.

Jiang Li calmed down, and a sweet smile appeared on her lips.

"Uncle, what are you doing here?"

She took a few steps forward and stood in front of the man.

The man wore a pure black, bespoke suit, the fabric of which was exquisite and crisp. The excellent tailoring accentuated his tall and imposing figure. He wore a black shirt underneath, the hem tucked into a belt at his waist, highlighting his lean and muscular waistline.

Her incredibly long legs, encased in suit trousers, outlasted her life.

His black hair, ruffled by the evening breeze, fell lightly onto his deep, hard brow bone, and his narrow eyes were sharp and cold, like a pool of icy water.

"Have you been drinking?"

His voice was deep, and his calm gaze swept over her from bottom to top, finally settling on her flushed face.

In the crisp, clear air, the cool scent of wood mingled with the smell of alcohol emanating from her.

Jiang Li didn't feel drunk, but the wine didn't make her drunk; she was drunk on her own.

Seeing Gu Zhishen's cold and arrogant face, she felt like she had drunk too much.

Gu Zhishen used to be very strict with her and never let her drink alcohol.

During her years abroad, she also improved her alcohol tolerance.

She blinked her bright eyes, a sweet smile playing on her lips, "I had a little."

It's not just a little bit, he's practically a drunkard.

Gu Zhi's unfathomable eyes turned cold as he stared into her hazy eyes. "Jiang Li, you've become quite capable."

When he's angry, he always likes to call her by her full name.

Jiang Li smiled sweetly, took a step forward, her exquisite high heels pressing against the man's cold, hard leather shoes, tilted her head back, and her dimples seemed to be filled with sweet wine.

Are you angry?

Gu Zhishen looked down at her delicate face, her thick, curled eyelashes fluttering like two small fans. Her face, tinged with the smell of alcohol, was fair with a rosy glow, smooth and translucent.

When she spoke, her breath was sweet, like that of a ripe peach.

She was standing too close, and she wasn't wearing much—just a fitted white dress with a hem that barely covered her thighs.

With a slight lowering of the gaze, one can easily catch a glimpse of the spring scenery on her chest.

Pure, yet alluring.

Anyone of the opposite sex would be unable to look away.

Whether intentionally or unintentionally, she seemed oblivious, looking up at him with a faint smile.

Gu Zhishen's cold face remained calm and expressionless, his eyes slightly darkened. He took off his suit jacket and draped it over her, his deep voice ringing out above her.

"Who were you drinking with?"

The oversized suit was large enough to cover her entire body.

Before the familiar temperature arrived, there was the pleasant yet powerful and imposing scent emanating from his suit.

The ginger and pear are enveloped through the tip of the nose.

It felt as if... I was being held tightly in his arms.

Jiang Li recalled her teenage years when she realized she liked Gu Zhishen. The shame and unspeakable feelings tormented her, keeping her awake at night and causing her to go to school with huge dark circles under her eyes every day.

Later, she hid one of Gu Zhishen's shirts in her room, and every night she would put that white shirt next to her pillow and fall asleep smelling his fragrance.

This small action startled her, yet she slept with unusual peace of mind.

The feelings that blossomed during adolescence were like an iron chain cage, trapping her inside, unable to extricate herself.

"I'm asking you a question."

Receiving no response from her, the man's eyes grew cold, and his tone became more impatient.

Jiang Li was quickly pulled back to reality by his cold voice, and her fingertips unconsciously clenched the hem of her suit jacket.

Her relationship with Gu Zhishen was no longer the one where she had to report to him and get his permission for everything.

Jiang Li blinked, meeting his amber eyes. "I'm already eighteen, and you're not my guardian anymore. There's no need for you to pry into my private life so much, is there?"

The man's eyes were calm and cold, and a sneer escaped his throat.

It seemed to be mocking her ignorance and arrogance.

That laugh sobered Jiang Li up a bit.

He always watched her reckless, moth-to-a-flame love with cold indifference, mocking her downfall and eventual destruction.

She ripped off her suit jacket and shoved it into the man's arms.

My friend is still waiting for me, I have to go now.

She turned to leave, but her wrist was suddenly grabbed.

His dry, warm palm suddenly gripped her wrist, the warmth penetrating her delicate skin and seeping into her muscles.

Gu Zhishen's long, slender fingers gripped her delicate wrist, his tall figure almost enveloping her.

"What are you going back to China for?"

The few cold and indifferent words made Jiang Li's eyes tremble.

The implication is that they don't want her to come back.

A bittersweet feeling spread through my heart, seeping into my very bones.

She winked and said playfully, "Marriage."

After saying that, the man chuckled softly, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Jiang Li, isn't your head heavy?"

Before Jiang Li could understand what he meant, she heard him ask mockingly, "That Tang family kid has given you more green hats than you've lived. You're going to marry someone like that?"

His voice was clear and cold, and his tone was disdainful.

Like a high and mighty god, mocking without any attempt to hide it.

"Otherwise what?"

Jiang Li, a shallow dimple playing at the corner of her lips, blinked her long eyelashes lightly, "Will you marry me?"
