Deep Fog Kiss
Chapter 59 You'll always be in charge of me, right?
Yuan Wei turned to look at Jiang Li's stunned expression and said, "You don't know, do you? They grew up together since they were little, and I heard they were each other's first love. It seems that your uncle will get married soon after he goes to Australia with her."
Jiang Li was still pondering the information in her words: what about going to Australia, what about her first love, what about marriage.
The joy I was about to share about winning the award vanished in an instant.
Yuan Wei stood up and slowly walked to her. "Jiang Li, your aunt is kindly reminding you that after your uncle gets married, there won't be a place for you next to him."
She looked at Jiang Li's fair and innocent face and chuckled, "Whether you win the gold or silver award in business is insignificant to him. After all, his future business is for his wife and children, not for you to set foot in, understand?"
Jiang Li had no idea what she was talking about; her mind was filled with thoughts of her uncle going to Australia and getting married.
She had never heard her uncle mention this matter before.
He's going to Australia, what will she do?
"Oh well, never mind." Yuan Wei sighed with a smile. "Anyway, you'll be an adult in two years. After that, you'll have nothing to do with the Gu family anymore. You can go wherever you want."
Yuan Wei's words reminded Jiang Li that she would be an adult in just two years.
After she came of age, her uncle was no longer obligated to take care of her.
But without realizing it, she actually felt sad.
She didn't want to become an adult, and she didn't want to sever her ties with her uncle.
If he goes to Australia, she'll be an unwanted orphan again...
Jiang Li returned to her room in a daze and sat by the window, lost in thought.
As the sun set, the temperature difference between day and night in autumn made her, who wasn't dressed very warmly, feel a chill.
A cool breeze blew by, and she felt a little cold.
Suddenly remembering something, I got up, went to the bathroom, and turned on the overhead shower.
The icy water droplets were like winter raindrops, chilling to the bone.
Jiang Li closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and rushed into the water curtain.
The icy water soaked her from head to toe.
......
At nine o'clock in the evening, the sky was as black as ink.
A white Bentley Bacalar sports car drove into the Gu residence and parked in a parking space in the east wing courtyard.
Gu Zhishen stepped out of the car in a dark suit, his posture as straight as a pine tree, exuding a cool and aloof air.
At this moment, the lights were on in the main hall of the east wing, and warm light shone in the kitchen.
Gu Zhishen's eyes were gentle, and the corners of his lips were slightly upturned.
I don't know when it started, but no matter when he came back, there was always a light lit for him in the quiet and secluded courtyard.
This was something he hadn't felt in a very, very long time...being cared for?
Gu Zhishen stepped into the courtyard, and as soon as he reached the door, he heard a faint cough, which was especially clear in the quiet environment.
He frowned slightly. Just as he entered the hall, a series of light footsteps came from the kitchen.
"Uncle!"
A clear and sweet voice rang out.
Gu Zhishen looked up and saw that the girl was wearing a white light velvet loungewear set and fluffy slippers, as if she had just taken a shower. Her long, smooth hair was casually draped down, and her fair face was flushed.
She came running over with a small, quick step, holding a water glass in her hand. Her small face, no bigger than a palm, had a pair of clear, bright eyes.
"You're back?"
Jiang Li stood obediently in front of the man, wrinkled her nose when she smelled the alcohol on him, then handed him a glass of water with both hands, tilted her head back and smiled sweetly, "Have a glass of hangover soup first."
Gu Zhishen looked down at the dimples on her lips, then at the water glass in her hand. He took it from her and asked with a smile, "It's Friday today. I didn't pick you up from school. Are you angry?"
Jiang Li smiled, pursed her lips, and gently shook her head.
Just as she was about to say something, she suddenly turned her head and coughed lightly, covering her mouth.
"What's wrong?"
Gu Zhishen frowned slightly, raised his hand and touched her forehead; it was burning hot.
"Ginger and Pear".
His voice suddenly turned cold, "Don't you know you have a fever?"
Jiang Li looked up at him; her eyes were wet with fever, making her look especially pitiful.
"Second Young Master, Miss Li has had a fever since this evening." The kitchen maid came over to explain upon hearing the commotion. "I offered to let you know, but Miss Li wouldn't allow it, saying you were busy. She just took it all on herself and even made you a hangover soup."
The maid spoke with concern, "Since you weren't back, she was worried the hangover soup would get cold, so she reheated it again and again."
What should have been heartwarming and touching words turned into a cold expression on Gu Zhishen's face, as if covered in frost.
"Did you take your medicine?" Gu Zhishen asked coldly.
Jiang Li shook her head.
Gu Zhishen's expression turned even colder. "Have you seen a doctor?"
Jiang Li shook her head again.
"Why don't you say so?"
He looked down at the girl's flushed face, and his anger flared up. "Don't you have a mouth?"
Jiang Li stood there, her lips pressed tightly together, like a child who had done something wrong.
How old are you? You don't even say anything when you have a fever.
Gu Zhishen suppressed the anger in his chest and did not scold her in front of the maid. He asked the maid to notify the doctor, and then grabbed her wrist and went into the room.
Closing the door, Gu Zhishen looked down at her condescendingly, "You've been burning up since this afternoon without making a sound, are you planning to burn yourself to death?"
His words were cold, and Jiang Li felt wronged.
She looked up, her eyes filled with tears, and said in a trembling voice, "I'm afraid... afraid of disturbing your important business."
Gu Zhishen chuckled, exasperated. "When did you become so sensible?"
Except for the first two years after she arrived, when she was very careful in her words and actions, in the years that followed, she became quite spoiled in front of him.
Jiang Li pouted, and tears fell from her eyes.
"You're going to Australia, you won't be able to control me anymore..."
She choked back tears, looking at the man in front of her through teary eyes, "I don't want to...I don't want to cause you any trouble."
Gu Zhishen frowned. "Who told you that?"
Jiang Li didn't say anything, but cried and asked, "Uncle, are you really going to Australia?"
She's not even an adult yet, is he really not going to care about her?
Gu Zhishen asked, "So you're going to burn yourself to death just because I'm going to Australia?"
"That's not what I meant..." Jiang Li explained with tears in her eyes, "If you... if you can't control me anymore, then I have to learn to be independent. I can't rely on you for everything."
"It's just being sick." She lifted her face, pretending to be strong as she wiped away her tears. "It'll be alright, Uncle, don't worry."
"Independent." Gu Zhishen looked at her. "That's good. You're so independent that you even make decisions for me now."
Jiang Li was slightly taken aback, then looked at him with teary eyes.
Gu Zhishen met her clear eyes. "I didn't say I was going to Australia, and you don't need to burn yourself to death."
He slightly raised his chin, his tone commanding, "Go lie down on the bed."
Jiang Li took a couple of seconds to react, then her eyes lit up, "Uncle, aren't you going to Australia?"
Gu Zhishen tilted his head, gazing into her bright eyes, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Are you afraid I'll go?"
Jiang Li didn't want to lie, so she nodded and admitted, "I'm a little scared."
"What are you afraid of?"
"I'm afraid you'll abandon me."
I'm afraid I won't see you again, afraid we'll never meet again.
I'm afraid that I'll never have anyone to share my life with again.
Her expression was serious. "Uncle, are you really not going to Australia?"
Gu Zhishen chuckled softly, tapping her forehead lightly with his fingertips. "Did your ears get burned?"
Jiang Li suddenly burst into laughter through her tears, "Uncle, you'll always take care of me, right?"
Receiving Gu Zhishen's approving smile, she quickly wiped away her tears and obediently crawled into bed.
She looked up at the man standing by the bed, smiling as she gazed at his handsome features, as if silently stamping a mark in her heart: "No going back on my word."
