Deep Fog Kiss

Chapter 24 Don't be afraid, I'm here.

Yes, no one could understand why she wanted to go abroad back then.

Back in China, Gu Zhishen provided her with the best living conditions, the best university environment, and the freest learning space.

She should have completed her studies in China and then, according to those stories of repaying kindness, found a job at the Gu Group.

But she suddenly went abroad, cutting off all contact with Gu Zhishen.

She refused all of his financial support.

But only she knew that leaving Gu Zhishen abroad two years ago was her only choice at the time.

"The thunder seems to have stopped."

Jiang Li didn't answer Gu Rou's question. Instead, she turned to look out the window and said softly, "The rain has lessened."

"It seems so." Gu Rou listened carefully to the sound of wind and rain outside. The rain had indeed lessened considerably, and the drizzle had a calming effect on her.

"Go to sleep, Sister Pear. I'll stay with you tonight, so don't be afraid."

Looking at Gu Rou's serious expression, Jiang Li smiled and said, "The little girl from back then has grown up and can comfort me now."

When Gu Rou was a child, Jiang Li was always there to protect her from anything.

Firstly, she was two years older than Gu Rou, and secondly, she was adopted by the Gu family, not the legitimate eldest daughter of the Gu family. Therefore, she should stand in front of Gu Rou both morally and logically.

Unexpectedly, Gu Rou came to keep her company in the middle of the night.

Gu Rou chuckled, "Goodnight, Sister Li, sweet dreams."

She slipped under the covers, the VIP invitation on her phone making her itch with desire.

Jiang Li lay down on her side and gently closed her eyes.

The violin music playing from the gramophone flowed gently through the quiet night, bringing back memories of bygone years.

......

On the first stormy day after arriving at the Gu family home, Gu Zhishen sat on the sofa in her room all night, keeping her company through the entire night, after she begged him relentlessly.

A secret had been hidden in her heart—the half-closed door that night was intentional on her part.

Her fear and dread were real, as was her desire to hold on to him tightly.

From that day on, whenever there was a thunderstorm, Gu Zhishen would "coincidentally" return home, no matter when or where. Then, after Jiang Li politely and sincerely asked, "Uncle, can you stay with me tonight?" he would stay and watch over her until she fell asleep, only leaving after the thunder stopped.

after that......

She became bolder.

She stopped asking Gu Zhishen if he could stay with her.

Instead, she would boldly occupy his room and, before the thunderstorm arrived, sleep on the sofa in his room with her blanket.

After that, she became even more frantic, crawling into his bed and sleeping with him...

Jiang Li's heart skipped a beat. She closed her eyes and listened to the soft rustling of the wind outside the window.

During the two years they lived together in Beishan Villa, she was never afraid of stormy nights.

Because Gu Zhishen would be there every rainy night.

Every stormy night, he has a hundred ways to make her forget her fear.

Four years ago, on that night, just like tonight, the wind howled and the rain poured down.

She was sitting on the sofa in the study reading a book when she looked up and saw Gu Zhishen, dressed in a dark-colored bathrobe, sitting upright at his desk handling official business.

She especially liked to keep Gu Zhishen company while he was working, and would occasionally look at his serious, cold, and handsome face.

Suddenly, a flash of lightning streaked across the sky, illuminating the wide river surface outside the French windows.

She gasped in fright, the book in her hand suddenly falling onto the carpet, and she huddled on the sofa, hugging her knees.

A tall figure suddenly appeared in front of us.

Gu Zhishen knelt on one knee beside the sofa, one hand around her slender shoulder, the other gently patting her soft hair.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here."

His shoulders were broad and strong, and his embrace was warm and scorching.

Jiang Li huddled in his arms, like a wounded little rabbit.

The pleasant, cool woody scent emanating from him wafted into her nostrils, finally easing her tense nerves.

"Gu Zhishen".

Jiang Li called his name softly, leaned against his strong chest, and said softly, "I don't like thunderstorms."

The tone was both coquettish and like complaining.

A gentle chuckle came from above.

"Afraid?"

Gu Zhishen spoke softly, looking down at her slightly trembling long eyelashes.

Jiang Li tilted her head back from his embrace, and then his thin lips pressed down and kissed her.

His long, slender fingers cupped the back of her head, his kiss both gentle and domineering.

He released her lips, and his amber pupils reflected Jiang Li's flushed face.

"Are you still afraid?" The voice was deep and husky, sexy and alluring.

Jiang Li's slender fingers gripped his shirt tightly, her breath unsteady as she spoke, "With you by my side, I have nothing to fear."

Gu Zhishen smiled, his tall figure looming over her, his aggressive gaze directly seducing her.

Jiang Li took a deep breath and stared at his well-defined pectoral muscles at the open collar, the clear lines running down and disappearing under his dark robe.

Even though he was wearing clothes, Jiang Li could clearly picture his strong, muscular physique in her mind.

The man chuckled, leaned down, his high, straight nose brushing against her rounded nose, and kissed her again.

As she floated and sank, Jiang Li realized that the faint thunder outside was no longer frightening.

......

Downstairs at the villa, the black Maybach was dark, blending into the pitch-black night.

In the back seat, a touch of scarlet light flickered, vaguely highlighting the man's deep and cold features.

One cigarette after another burned between his fingers, Gu Zhishen's eyes remained fixed on the window, his gaze fixed on the floor-to-ceiling window whose interior was hidden by curtains.

Through the white curtains, you can see that the lights are on inside.

I don't know if the people inside are asleep or not.

Yin Ming remained silent in the driver's seat, but couldn't help feeling a little puzzled.

The boss was clearly worried about Miss Li, so he changed his route and returned to the villa, but he didn't go upstairs or even enter the gate. Instead, he notified the eldest daughter to come over.

For some reason, he felt that Miss Li's relationship with her boss had become somewhat...strange since she returned to the country.

A black Maybach was parked downstairs from late at night until the early hours of the morning.

The torrential rain stopped, and the sky began to lighten.

The black luxury car slowly drove out of Beishan Villa.

......

Early the next morning.

When Jiang Li and Gu Rou came downstairs, Zhong Qiuwen had already prepared breakfast.

Jiang Li subconsciously looked towards the living room sofa but didn't see Gu Zhishen.

Just as Gu Rou sat down at the restaurant and before she even picked up her chopsticks, her phone suddenly rang.

She glanced at the incoming call, her breath caught in her throat, and she looked up at Jiang Li. "Oh no, it's my mom calling."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Li's face paled, and her hand holding the milk suddenly tightened.

A nameless sense of fear arose spontaneously.

If it's a blessing in disguise, it's a curse; if it's a curse, it's coming.
