Family connections: From special recruitment by the county committee to the pinnacle of power

Xu Changqing took the report, glanced at it a few times, and his expression instantly became serious.

He never expected that Xu Hansheng would actually meet with the general manager's assistant and have a very pleasant conversation, with the other party even expressing a strong interest in investing.

Wasn't this supposed to be a magic attack on Xu Hansheng, but the wrong skill was used instead, giving Xu Hansheng a red and blue buff instead?

"Director Xu, in my opinion, was the place where we treated them to dinner last time not good enough? Look at the place Xu Hansheng is treating us to dinner this time."

As he spoke, Li Qiang cautiously pointed to the restaurant's name.

World Trade Center Grand Hyatt Hotel!

Xu Changqing's face darkened further. Xu Hansheng's family was indeed wealthy and powerful; they were really willing to spend money to help him gain a foothold in the county government office.

A five-star hotel, who wouldn't want that?

Xu Changqing had never eaten at such a high-end restaurant in his entire life.

Looking at this report, he was both envious and angry!

"Director Xu, how about we host a banquet here tonight as well..."

Bang!

Xu Changqing slammed his hand on the table, interrupting, "Nonsense! There are standards for hospitality!"

However, after he said that, his mind started to wander. It was true that the county had a standard for hospitality, but a standard of thirty or fifty yuan per person was too stingy to invite the senior executives of Tiancheng Holdings to dinner.

Last time, he and Li Qiang went all out to invite someone to dinner, setting a standard of 200 yuan per person. In the end, the person left without even eating, but chatted so enthusiastically with Xu Hansheng.

It seems that the class of a restaurant is also very important!

Thinking of this, Xu Changqing frowned, then changed the subject, saying, "Although the county does have standards for banquets, special arrangements should be made for special cases. We are doing this to successfully attract investment, not for personal enjoyment."

Hearing this, Li Qiang forced a smile and said, "Yes, yes, Director Xu is right."

Xu Changqing thought for a moment, took out his work notebook, turned to a new page, and then picked up the landline phone to call Tiancheng Holdings.

As soon as the call connected, Xu Changqing smiled and said, "Hello, is this Tiancheng Holdings?"

"Yes, may I ask where this is?" the operator's clear voice followed.

"Hello, I am from the Yutong County Government. Our staff member just communicated with Mr. Liu, the assistant general manager of your company, yesterday. According to our staff member's report, your company is very interested in investing in and building a factory in our county."

"Based on the leadership's decision, we would like to have a formal meeting with your company's leadership today to discuss specific matters. Would that be convenient for you?"

Xu Changqing said calmly.

"Oh, you're from the Yutong County government? Okay, I'll transfer you to Assistant General Manager Liu's office right away. Please wait a moment."

The operator's tone became noticeably more enthusiastic, which surprised Xu Changqing even more.

He had made similar calls before, but the other end would simply say that the company leaders were in a meeting and there was no time to meet him, and then hang up.

But today, the operator's attitude took a complete 180-degree turn. Judging from this alone, Xu Hansheng and Xu He were not lying about their results.

A short while later, Liu Zhiqiang's voice came from the other end: "Hello, I'm Liu Zhiqiang, the general manager's assistant. May I ask who you are?"

"Hello, I am Xu Changqing, deputy director of the Yutong County Government Office." After introducing himself, Xu Changqing exchanged a few words with Liu Zhiqiang. Liu Zhiqiang's attitude was very ambiguous. In the end, he even went to ask the group's vice president.

About ten minutes later, Liu Zhiqiang's voice came again: "Director Xu, good news. Our Vice President Chen is also very willing to meet with the county leaders to discuss the factory construction. If it's convenient, we can meet tonight."

Xu Changqing quickly replied, "Okay, let's meet at 6 PM tonight at the World Trade Center in Markham. Assistant General Manager Liu will be there too, right?"

"Of course, I'll go with President Chen. See you tonight." After saying that, Liu Zhiqiang gave Xu Changqing a phone number before hanging up.

After hanging up the phone, Xu Changqing felt refreshed. From what Liu Zhiqiang said, the other party was very interested in Yutong County, which meant that whoever went could get things done pretty well.

After returning, report the work achievements to County Chief Lin, and then arrange a time for the county chief to meet with the other party's chairman. Wouldn't that solve the problem?

At that time, you'll have made a great contribution. Even if you can't be promoted to director, it's not impossible that after the project is completed, you could go to a township and become a town mayor or town party secretary.

Isn't this getting worse?

Damn!

Thinking of this, Xu Changqing, with a beaming smile, took out an invitation form from the drawer, looked up at Li Qiang, and said, "Section Chief Li, why aren't you leaving yet?"

what?

Li Qiang was stunned. Was Xu Changqing going to abandon him after using him?

Seeing Li Qiang standing there, staring at the hospitality application form in Xu Changqing's hand, Xu Changqing smiled faintly and said, "Section Chief Li, go back and wait for our notification. Perhaps tonight, we'll have to represent the county and make contact with their vice president."

Upon hearing this, Li Qiang nodded repeatedly with excitement, saying, "Okay, thank you for your guidance, Director Xu. I'll go back to the department and wait for your good news."

After saying that, Li Qiang backed away from Xu Changqing's office.

According to the county's regulations, hospitality expenses for attracting investment must adhere to the principle of "approval before reception".

Therefore, Xu Changqing had to submit an application form to Jiang Qinghua first. If the fee was less than a thousand dollars, Jiang Qinghua could approve it directly. But this time, it was the World Trade Center in Markham, and even Jiang Qinghua didn't have the authority to approve it; it had to go through County Magistrate Lin.

Therefore, this application form must be filled out very carefully.

Therefore, Xu Changqing also specifically looked through Tiancheng Holdings' information, checked the name of Vice President Chen, and added the names of Liu Zhiqiang and the other person to the banquet guest list.

After carefully checking and confirming that everything was correct, Xu Changqing quickly arrived at Jiang Qinghua's office door.

When Xu Changqing handed the application form to Jiang Qinghua, Jiang Qinghua almost dropped the teacup in his hand.

"Director Xu, are you...are you alright? Hosting dinner at the World Trade Center in Markham? How could you even think of that!"

Jiang Qinghua slammed the teacup on the table, glared at Xu Changqing, and questioned him coldly.

Xu Changqing hurriedly handed over Xu He's report and said to Jiang Qinghua, "Director Jiang, Xu Hansheng and Xu He already hosted a banquet for Assistant General Manager Liu yesterday."

"Moreover, the talks went very well. When I called today, the operator was very polite to me, and Assistant General Manager Liu even made a special appointment with Vice General Manager Chen. I think there's a very good chance of this happening."

"If the deal actually goes through, wouldn't you have completed the task assigned by Secretary Qi?"
