Family connections: From special recruitment by the county committee to the pinnacle of power

Qi Hongchang smiled and nodded, saying, "Comrade Xu Hansheng, since County Chief Lin and the leaders present are all very interested, why don't you share your thoughts so that we can all hear them?"

As he spoke, Qi Hongchang's gaze swept across the faces of the people surrounding him.

Fu Changqing stepped forward and said to Xu Hansheng, "Comrade Xu Hansheng, don't feel guilty. Secretary Qi asked you to speak, so just speak freely."

Xu Hansheng coughed lightly, took several deep breaths, and then said in a loud voice, "Secretary Qi, County Head Lin, and other leaders, I believe that raising cattle has many benefits. First of all, milk can be used as a raw material for dairy products. With the reform and opening up, people's living standards have continued to improve, and they are no longer satisfied with just having enough to eat. Now, not only in big cities, but even ordinary citizens in Qingshan City have the habit of subscribing to milk."

"Our Yutong County is the closest to Qingshan City among all the outlying counties, less than two hours away by car. If we build a cattle breeding base here and supply fresh milk to the citizens every day, it will definitely be very popular."

As soon as he said this, all the leaders around him nodded in agreement.

To be honest, Xu Hansheng's idea was indeed feasible; it was fresh milk that you could actually see.

Furthermore, transporting goods from Yutong County to Qingshan City by small truck early in the morning, and then distributing them to households, is indeed very competitive.

Xu Hansheng thought for a moment and continued, "Moreover, apart from dairy products, beef is superior in both price and quality. Furthermore, for farmers, cow manure can be used for fertilization, promoting ecological and green agriculture. If combined with our county's fishponds and orchards, we can even create a rural tourism destination."

"You can fish, pick fruits, drink fresh milk, and eat fresh beef. Moreover, the mountains and rivers are beautiful, no less than ordinary tourist attractions. It combines entertainment and lifestyle, which is of great help to the county's economic development."

Whoosh!

After Xu Hansheng said these words, thunderous applause erupted around him.

Although most people felt that this was just Xu Hansheng's wishful thinking, and that it would be harder than climbing to heaven to achieve, they still had to applaud him for the sake of Secretary Qi.

Even Zhang Juan and others could see clearly that they were now choosing sides.

Whether to raise cattle or sheep, Qi Hongchang didn't care at all; he just wanted to use this topic to see who was on his side.

Therefore, apart from Lin Hanlong and Jiang Qinghua, almost everyone applauded.

The thunderous applause was like a series of slaps to Lin Hanlong's face, catching him completely off guard!

Lin Hanlong turned his head with a grim expression and looked at Jiang Qinghua, who was equally embarrassed.

To be honest, he really wanted to clap along, but the problem was, he couldn't.

Everyone else can stand with Qi Hongchang, but he can't.

As the director of the county government office, he had to follow Lin Hanlong's lead and absolutely could not choose the wrong side.

Seeing Lin Hanlong's gaze, Jiang Qinghua instantly understood that it was his turn to charge into battle!

Thinking of this, Jiang Qinghua coughed lightly and said somewhat awkwardly, "Secretary Qi, County Head Lin, and other leaders, I have a question, but I don't know if I should ask it."

Qi Hongchang looked at Jiang Qinghua with a smile and nodded slightly, saying, "Everyone can express their opinions. Whoever it is, can raise any questions they have, and we can discuss them together."

Jiang Qinghua gave Qi Hongchang an awkward smile, then forced a smile and said to Xu Hansheng, "Comrade Xu Hansheng, your vision is wonderful and your ideas are very progressive, but there is one problem that Comrade Xu Hansheng may not understand. The farmers in our county have always raised domestic pigs in a free-range manner, and they have no experience in raising cattle."

"I think everyone knows that livestock and poultry are very susceptible to disease, especially cattle. What if they get sick if we're not careful? Not only do we all lack experience, but calves are very expensive. Who can afford to lose them?"

Swish!

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone looked at Xu Hansheng again.

Qi Hongchang also calmly sized up Xu Hansheng. It could be said that this was a test for Xu Hansheng.

Whether Xu Hansheng can pass this test depends on his performance.

If even Jiang Qinghua's question could leave Xu Hansheng speechless, then it means he wasn't ready.

Xu Hansheng took a deep breath and smiled as he said, "Director Jiang, the question you asked is very representative and reflects a real difficulty. However, I want to say that we now raise cattle scientifically. First of all, the calves have already been vaccinated when we buy them. As for feeding, we have long since developed specialized forage in China."

"As far as I know, this kind of pasture grass can be harvested twice in a row after being sown once. Moreover, although the opposite hillside is not suitable for farming, the wild grass is still very lush."

After saying this, Xu Hansheng pointed to the knee-high wild grass on the opposite hillside and then said, "This kind of forage grass can not only be planted on hillsides, but also in forests, and in front of and behind houses. It can be used to raise cattle, sheep, and rabbits. If you can't use it all, you can bundle it up and sell it. In terms of economic benefits, there will definitely be no problem."

Upon hearing this, Lin Hanlong stepped forward with a smile and said, "Hehe, Comrade Xu Hansheng, animal husbandry is not as simple as you imagine. If it were really as you say, wouldn't it be possible to develop it vigorously all over the country? Although your idea is good, it does involve the vital interests of the people, so we can't make a decision so hastily."

After speaking, Lin Hanlong glanced at the cadres around him.

However, compared to Qi Hongchang, very few people responded to him.

Apart from Jiang Qinghua, everyone else turned to look at Qi Hongchang.

"No!"

Before Qi Hongchang could speak, Xu Hansheng said with a serious expression, "County Chief Lin, I'm not fantasizing. My college roommate's family is from the grasslands. When we were freshmen, he posted a status on QQ saying that his family had sold a cow to support his college education."

"Our roommates donated a lot of money to him for this, until later we found out that he raised more than two thousand cows."

Upon hearing this, Gu Chenglong was the first to burst out laughing.

Seeing that Qi Hongchang did not react, the others also burst into laughter.

"Later, I specifically asked him about his experience in raising cattle, and I even wrote it down in my diary at the time."

After saying that, Xu Hansheng opened his briefcase, rummaged around for a while, took out the old diary from the briefcase, stepped forward, and said to Qi Hongchang, "Secretary Qi, please take a look. This is a diary I specially kept when I was a sophomore in college. In it, there is what my classmate Gerile told me."

"It's on this page!"

As he spoke, Xu Hansheng opened his diary, found the entry he had hastily written at noon, and handed it to Qi Hongchang.

"Oh?"

Qi Hongchang couldn't help but look at Xu Hansheng with surprise and said, "It seems that this young comrade is not just talking nonsense, but has done in-depth investigation and understanding."

"Some of our leaders, including myself, have perhaps been in leadership positions for too long. Without conducting thorough investigations and understanding, they arbitrarily dismiss the opinions of other comrades, displaying a patriarchal attitude that is unacceptable!"

"We should learn from Comrade Xu Hansheng. We must always speak with substance, and every word we say must withstand scrutiny and be based on in-depth investigation and analysis."

Although he didn't name names, everyone could tell that Qi Hongchang had finally found a handle to use against Lin Hanlong and was now giving him a severe dressing down.
