Mythology Returns! Starting with Folklore and Strange Tales

Under the dim light of the oil lamp, lying under the uncovered blanket was a furry corpse, its original form a bloody mess. From its enormous gray tail, one could barely confirm that this was the wolf spirit from the story Zhang Wei had heard when he was a child.

In the wolf spirit's arms, a pale-faced boy, whose hands had been bitten off at the root and whose chest had been ripped open, was staring at her helplessly.

"Hehe..."

"Sorry, bro, I could only fire when it was feeding time, but I was still too late!"

Although he didn't have much of a relationship with the brother in this instance, the fact that the other person cooked for him and helped him wash up during that short night, and how busy and responsible he was, still reminded Zhang Wei of his cousin who knelt next to him at the funeral.

It was wrong of him to weigh the pros and cons.

But the two unarmed children, facing a monster that could transform into a human, had no other effective way to save their lives except by following the methods in the story.

As it turned out, Zhang Wei and his adopted brother did not manage to dig their brother and mother out of the wolf's belly after killing the wolf spirit, as the old man in Mendundun's story had described.

The reality is, once you've been eaten, you've been eaten.

Even though Zhang Wei fired the gun the moment the wolf spirit made its move, the wolf spirit had already cut off the activity of the prey in its arms to prevent the child from moving around and startling the other prey. The reason why the older brother is still alive is only because the wolf spirit's claw pierced his chest and temporarily delayed his death in a way that is unknown, whether it was magic or physical. Once the wolf spirit dies, this short life will naturally disappear quickly.

"Dog Egg, I don't blame you. I'm just glad you're alive and able to kill this beast!"

"Don't go out tonight. Wait until dawn, then go find the villagers, go to your uncle's house to find our parents. You must be safe and grow up safely!"

"good!"

Seeing his face quickly turn pale, faintly radiating a familiar waxy yellow, and his eyes burning slightly, Zhang Wei nodded.

In the latter half of the night, Zhang Wei naturally obeyed his brother's words and stayed quietly in the house where monsters and the dead coexisted.

After all, he hadn't forgotten that if the current instance was indeed the legendary story of the old man who kidnapped children, then there was an old man guarding him outside the courtyard.

Compared to the wolf spirit in the story who is somewhat "foolish" in the present day, a kidnapper who makes a living through shady dealings and hides in the shadows is not so easy to deal with.

......

The sky was just beginning to lighten, and the sun had not yet risen above the horizon.

Zhang Wei, who had been awake for most of the night, shook his groggy head and placed the steamed and plated wolf meat in front of the Kitchen God statue.

Bow down and kneel in worship.

After bowing and kowtowing three times, when he raised his head again, he saw a plump god statue depicted in the gold and red marks on the paper that had been blackened by smoke.

The Kitchen God statue just awakening

After a simple yet lavish ritual, the dust-covered statue regained some of its spiritual power.

【Effect: A small sacrifice can be performed every three days (already performed, currently on cooldown). A large sacrifice can be performed on the first and fifteenth of each month (two days until the sacrifice). One of the sacrifices that consumes the spirit will receive a random positive enhancement (the enhancement effect varies depending on the solemnity of the sacrifice, the sacrifice, the time, and other factors).

Current residual offering effect: flesh marrow

Taken from the flesh and blood of a wolf demon from thirty-five years ago, a gift left over from the Kitchen God after he consumed his qi, it strengthens qi and blood, increasing strength by seventy jin.

Gain temporary status: Sprint (current silhouette only).

Brisk walking: Walking speed increases by 50%, running speed increases by 80%, and slightly reduces energy expenditure during strenuous exercise.

After the sacrifice, only a small strip of meat, about the size of an adult's little finger, remained of the whole plate of wolf heart meat, which was about four or five pounds. The rest had turned into dry, black bits, like scraps of dried bacon.

As the name suggests.

Although it still retained the shape of meat strips, the taste after entering the mouth was similar to that of cooked bone marrow. As Zhang Wei's throat moved slightly, the moment the crushed meat marrow fell into his stomach, a warm current began to spread throughout his body.

At the same time, the statue of the Kitchen God in the corner of the stove also cast a ray of fiery red light, which turned into a canopy of mist above Zhang Wei's head.

A moment later, Zhang Wei, who had just come out of his warm and lazy state, looked at the energy of the statue gradually withdrawing from above his head. After a moment of stunned silence, he bowed to the Kitchen God.

Zhang Wei, who was trying the blessing of the gods for the first time, naturally did not expect that while receiving the blessing, he would also have a short period of sage-like aftereffects. However, the same gods, or perhaps the game mechanics, also provided corresponding protection.

Whether it's a beginner's perk or not is another matter. For now, Zhang Wei, who felt his strength had grown to almost the same level as his original body after weighing the shotgun in his hand, slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

Although I still have the body of a child, I won't be as embarrassed as I was last night in certain necessary situations.

In addition to the increased strength, the buff that increases walking speed and reduces stamina consumption in a single instance is also a great help. Furthermore, the subtitles that appeared after hunting the wolf spirit last night also brought Zhang Wei another surprise.

[The Master's Gaze: Hunting down a wolf spirit, reward: True Yang Arrow]

[By taking the true yang energy of a man and nurturing it within the body, the yang fire will be strengthened daily, causing great damage to demons and monsters, and causing great real damage to yin, eerie, and evil magic. Once a day, the effect will be halved if the number of times exceeds the previous number.]

Young boys accumulate Yang energy at double the speed, and receive a guaranteed +1 arrow per day, resetting the next day.

Note: This ability is a prerequisite for a certain type of spell.

From the moment he received the True Yang Arrow, Zhang Wei felt a faint warm current flowing from his entire body toward his abdomen, and then slowly accumulating beneath the skin of his tongue and middle finger, like water dripping on a stone.

With magical abilities that enhanced his strength and speed, and a hunting rifle and a machete at his disposal, Zhang Wei felt incredibly powerful!

Of course, Zhang Wei wouldn't be that irrational.

He had only survived one day of the main quest, and he didn't think he would only encounter this one gluttonous wolf spirit in the next six days. If that were the case, the main quest of surviving for seven days would be far too easy.

a long time.

Only when the darkness outside had completely dissipated, and when he could faintly hear the farmers chatting as they went to work in the fields through the doors and windows, did Zhang Wei take a deep breath, loosen the bolt, and force open the door with his shotgun, shouting loudly, "Help! Uncles, come quick!"

The shouts of young children are similar in effect to a rallying cry, attracting a group of angry young men!

In villages named after a particular surname, the effect would be even more terrifying and horrifying, unless the adults in the family were extremely unpopular!
