Several experienced orcs bent down, grabbed a handful of soil, and then led the group forward for a while before the three groups dispersed.

Bai Ze saw a dense patch of plants, reaching up to his calves, lush and green, spreading out densely across the ground.

Having grown up in the countryside, he naturally knew what this was—a potato.

His eyes widened in surprise, and with a nervous heart, he bent down, grasped a sapling, and uprooted it.

Each round, yellow potato, pulled out by its roots, is a size larger than a fist.

Fearing that he might have missed something, Bai Ze dug a few more times with his hands, and several yellow edges appeared in the soil.

For orcs, the root of this plant, known as "yellow sweet potato," is one of the few foods that can be stored until the cold season to cope with hunger.

Therefore, they would first pull out the plants, and then dig up all the soil underneath to make sure nothing was missed.

Of course, some will be left so that new ones can grow next year.

Staring at the potato in his hand, Bai Ze unconsciously swallowed his saliva. Potato chips, French fries, potato noodles, shredded potatoes, wolf tooth potatoes... just thinking about it was exciting!

"You like it that much?" Xing couldn't help but come closer when she saw Bai Ze's eyes light up.

Bai Ze nodded: "I love it!"

Qing smiled and said, "There should be many more in this mountain; we can dig up more."

If yellow sweet potatoes are potatoes, then red sweet potatoes must be yams!

Bai Ze became more and more excited as he thought about it, and he even picked potatoes with more vigor.

Mo grabbed his arm: "You guys just need to pick them up."

Bai Ze straightened up and looked around, only to find that it was the beastmen who were pulling the potatoes down, while the sub-beastmen were responsible for pulling the potatoes down and picking up the ones scattered on the ground.

Without any hesitation, he immediately and happily put potatoes into the animal skin bag.

Having claws is really useful; with a gentle dig, the black panthers unearthed round potatoes along with the soil.

Soon, several bags of potatoes were piled up on the ground.

With the sun high overhead, Mo La asked Bai Ze, "Do you still have any food left?"

Thinking that Mo was hungry, Bai Ze lifted his leg and found his bag hanging on the tree branch, took out the dried meat and handed it to him.

Mo pushed it back: "You eat it."

He hadn't realized it at first, but after he said that, Bai Ze realized that his stomach was already empty.

"Okay." He smiled at Mo, not wanting to show off, and found a rock to sit on.

"We'll each have half."

Mo shook his head: "I'm not hungry, you can eat slowly."

It took Bai Ze's team the entire afternoon to finish digging up the potatoes in front of them.

The other two teams also had a good harvest, with bulging, heavy animal skin bags piled together, instantly washing away the fatigue of a busy day.

After the rain, mushrooms sprouted up in the mountains, large and plump, growing in clusters under the trees.

After resting for a while, Bai Ze couldn't sit still any longer. He rolled up his sleeves and began to transform into "the little girl picking mushrooms".

People have been longing for the deliciousness of this food ever since they tasted it, but they dare not pick it rashly, since there are many more poisonous varieties.

Therefore, with Bai Ze leading the way, they became much bolder, following behind Bai Ze, learning and collecting as they went, and asking questions when they were unsure.

Yuan pulled Bai Qing over and snuggled close to Bai Ze, trying to get closer to him.

Since falling into the water, Bai Ze has been indifferent to Yuan and Bai Qing, even cold towards them, let alone visiting them or bringing them anything.

With the cold wave season fast approaching, the Yuan family still needs Bai Ze's help, so this stalemate can't continue.

Yuan kindly extended his hand: "Here, let me help you carry the bag."

"No need," Bai Ze said calmly, dodging to the side.

Yuan, without any embarrassment, pulled Bai Qing over, her face beaming, "Bai Ze, you know so much, teach your little brother, which kind—oh, right, this is called a mushroom, right?"

Bai Ze remained silent.

Yuan continued, talking to herself, "Bai Qing, learn from your brother and see which mushrooms are edible."

The proud and arrogant Bai Qing naturally disdained to flatter him, and irritably crushed a mushroom in her hand: "I know."

"These yellow ones with long, thin stems are edible," Bai Ze said to the others behind him, ignoring them as he squatted down and pointed to the chanterelle mushrooms in front of him.

Everyone nodded and carefully memorized its appearance.

"Bai Ze, can we eat this?" Xing walked over, holding a brown mushroom that looked like a closed umbrella with a mesh pattern.

"It's edible. Where did you find it?" Bai Ze asked with a smile.

Xing pointed with her finger: "Under that pile of leaves."

Bai Ze followed, and under the damp, withered leaves, several clusters of morel mushrooms grew.

"This stew is delicious."

Xing exclaimed in surprise, "Really? Then I'll find more!"

Picking mushrooms is addictive. Not to mention the sub-orcs, even the orcs would bend over, their eyes constantly searching through the piles of dead branches and grass.

And so it went on until nightfall, when all was dark, before the group reluctantly regrouped. Some even tried to use the burning firewood to search for something, but Si and the others stopped them.

The stars in this world are very bright, like scattered silver under the sunlight, clear and dazzling.

Bai Ze leaned against the tree, looking up quietly, and couldn't help but wonder if among the stars there was a blue planet where he once lived.

Has he completely disappeared from that world? Do his good friends ever think of him?

Qing and Xing seemed to sense Bai Ze's low spirits. They exchanged a glance, then sat down on either side of him, sandwiching him between them.

Qing: "Bai Ze, what are you looking at?"

Bai Ze snapped out of his daze: "The stars in the sky are very beautiful."

"It's really pretty, it sparkles." Hoshino looked up and asked, "Bai Ze, do you like sparkly things?"

Bai Ze smiled and nodded.

Xing: "Then I'll take you back."

Bai Ze's eyes crinkled into a smile: "Do you want to pluck the stars from the sky?"

Qing joked, "Let Xing try his best."

Xing laughed and said, "I'll go and borrow a pair of wings from the Feather Clan someday."

Bai Ze: "Then I'm really looking forward to it."

Qing took out a leaf-wrapped package, opened it, and inside was a round, blue fruit about the size of a thumb.

Xing nudged Bai Ze: "These little blue fruits are quite sweet, you should try them."

Bai Ze looked at the blueberries in front of him, then looked up and met two pairs of bright eyes, and a warm feeling suddenly welled up in his heart.

"Qing, Xing, it's so good to have met you."

"Oh dear." Xing picked up a piece and popped it into Bai Ze's mouth, then hugged him together with Qing. "That's what we should be saying."

"You have no idea how many foods we've never eaten before have come here with you."

Bai Ze was embraced from both sides, feeling warm all over and his nose tingling.

Like an older brother, Qing gently patted Bai Ze's back: "You have no idea how amazing you are."

Xing agreed, "That's right, we'll follow you from now on."

Mo, who was cutting meat, heard their conversation and looked over.
