The bright red broth was bubbling away, and a steaming aroma wafted through the air.

Xi Heyan took a deep breath: "These bones smell so good!"

Bai Ze arranged the wild vegetables, mushrooms, and meats for the hot pot, then invited them to sit around the fire.

Qing asked, "Do you eat raw meat?"

"Let's try a different way of eating today." Bai Ze took some firewood out of the fire and slowly simmered the stone pot over a low flame.

Everyone stared at him curiously.

"This is called hot pot." Bai Ze first put some Moo Moo beast meat in the pot. Because the meat slices were thin, they cooked in about ten seconds. He put a few slices on each of them and said, "Try it and see if it's good."

Everyone eagerly put it in their mouths.

The rich aroma of beef tallow blends with the spiciness of chili peppers. The meat is cooked until tender and soaked in the broth. One bite and your taste buds will explode!

"Delicious!" Xi slurped her saliva while staring at the meat in the pot with shining eyes.

Yan: "Bai Ze, this smells amazing!"

Mo and Jue were also captivated by the unique way of eating, and following Bai Ze's example, they added other ingredients to the pot.

"I want mushrooms!"

"This wild vegetable is delicious!"

"Heh...humph, add more beast meat!"

The cave, which was initially a bit chilly, was soon filled with a hot, warm feeling.

The campfire reflected the red oil on their lips, and everyone gradually started to sweat as they ate. In the end, they cut three more large plates of meat before they were finally full.

Yan wiped his mouth and let out a burp: "Bai Ze, from now on you're my boss!"

"I'll follow you from now on!"

Xi immediately clung to Bai Ze's leg, exclaiming, "Bai Ze, the food you make is the most delicious food in the world!"

Qing was somewhat exasperated by the shamelessness of her partner and cubs, and said to Bai Ze, "From now on, just let them do any chores you need!"

Bai Ze laughed: "Okay then!"

Since the stove was renovated, washing dishes and pots has become much easier.

Bai Ze had Mo carve out a drainage pool, square and attached to the stone wall, with a hole at the bottom connecting to the outside of the cave. When washing things there, the wastewater would flow directly out without wetting the surrounding area.

When the people from the tribe who came to help saw how useful it was, they all went home and made one themselves.

That way, even if it's raining outside, you can still wash and clean inside the cave.

Bai Ze sewed up the last cuffs of the animal skin coat, then went back to his bedroom to get two other finished garments, which he handed to Mo.

"Try it on to see if it fits."

"Are they all for me?" Mo was clearly surprised.

Bai Ze nodded.

The long-sleeved top is made of thin gray deerskin, simple yet not bulky.

The trousers were made of purplish-black animal hides. Because Mo had long legs, Bai Ze used up all the animal hides of that color in the house to make them.

But what's most stunning is the silver-gray snow wolf fur robe. Bai Ze had sewn a band of silver-black animal skin around the cuffs and collar, adding more depth to the overall color of the garment.

Mo stared at the clothes in front of him, not coming to his senses for a long time. It was only after Bai Ze urged him that he came to his senses and went inside to change.

There were no mirrors in the cave, but judging from Bai Ze and Jue's reactions, the clothes must be very nice, no, they must be amazing!

Mo's already pale skin was made even more dazzling by the contrast, and his deep features and tall, upright figure, paired with his silver-gray clothes, made him look like a foreign boy from the snowy north.

Bai Ze was stunned, and couldn't help but swallow hard. This is... too handsome!

"Thank you, Bai Ze," Mo's voice rang in his ear. "I like it very much."

"I'm glad you like it." Bai Ze stared straight at Mo's face, his azure eyes rippling with emotion.

Bai Ze seemed to see Mo smile, but he wasn't sure. He blinked and unconsciously moved closer.

Mo didn't move, his gaze falling on those pale pink lips, his fingers hidden in the animal skin slightly clenching.

One second, two seconds—

Reason finally returned at the last moment, and Bai Ze suddenly stopped in his tracks, looking up to see Mo's face so close to his.

He quickly created distance between them.

Mo inhaled the faint fragrance of bubble fruit, somewhat lost in thought, or perhaps with a sense of regret.

He felt he should bend down and cooperate.

Bai Ze awkwardly touched his nose: "Well, it's getting late, let's rest."

Mo took in all the emotions on his face and calmly said, "Yes, you too."

Bai Ze seemed to have fled in panic, and even after lying on the bed, his heart was still unable to calm down for a long time.

He attributed it all to "envy".

Yes, Bai Ze has always liked tall, strong, and slender figures and rugged, sharp handsomeness since he was a child, but unfortunately, he is not that type at all. When he was a child, he was often praised as "pretty" as a little girl.

The rain showed no signs of stopping, and the cave was poorly soundproofed.

Each clap of thunder could penetrate the layers of stone walls and reach Bai Ze's ears, and the scene of being struck by lightning would begin to play on repeat in his mind.

Sight and hearing stimulate the body's nerves, and the psychological pain seems to be more intense than actual physical pain.

The night was very dark.

Bai Ze curled up in the blanket, covering himself up completely, drowsiness and fear tearing at each other.

I didn't sleep a wink last night, and right now, I'm really starting to feel the strain.

In a daze, he gradually closed his eyes.

The howling wind swept through the mountains and forests, swirling and rushing, while the pattering rain grew increasingly noisy.

The thunder still showed no signs of stopping completely.

After an unknown amount of time, a corner of the animal skin blanket was suddenly lifted.

Bai Ze's eyes were slightly open, but his pupils seemed to be shrouded in mist, unfocused.

He slowly sat up, got out of bed barefoot. The stone floor was cold, but Bai Ze didn't react at all. He walked step by step toward the door in the darkness.

Raising her hand, opening the door, closing the door—the movements were fluid and unhurried, yet carried a mechanical stiffness.

The footsteps approaching were very light, but Mo opened his eyes instantly. He stood up defensively, holding his breath.

The door was pushed open, and in the darkness, he saw a figure slowly walking towards him.

Mo gripped the stone knife tightly and lunged forward, but stopped abruptly just before he could reach the man's neck.

It was Bai Ze who arrived.

Mo quickly sheathed his stone knife, asking in confusion, "What's wrong? Is something the matter?"

The person in front of him didn't react.

"Bai Ze?"

Still no response.

Mo gripped Bai Ze's shoulders, forcing him to stop, and stared into the man's slightly closed eyes: "What's wrong with you?"

A clap of thunder suddenly exploded, and Bai Ze's body swayed abruptly, then began to tremble. He opened his arms, eagerly embracing that reassuring presence.

Mo's pupils suddenly dilated, his breath caught in his throat, and he stood frozen in place.

He exclaimed incredulously, "Bai... Bai Ze?"

no respond.

But Mo could clearly feel the trembling of the body pressed against him.

He tentatively raised his hand and gently patted Bai Ze's back: "Are you... scared?"

Bai Ze didn't respond. He just hugged Mo's waist, buried his face in Mo's shoulder, and slowly closed his eyes.
