As the weather gets warmer, there's more to do.

As soon as it was dawn, Mo pushed his cart to the riverbank. He needed to wash his thick clothes and blankets, and once the sun came out, he would also take the bedding out of the bed to air it out.

Jue also habitually gets up early. After collecting firewood in the forest, she starts loosening the soil, weeding, and watering the small vegetable garden by the door. She also sweeps the yard and checks for any pebbles that might trip her.

Bai Ze was awakened by the heat. He raised his hand to wipe the thin layer of sweat from his forehead, propped himself up on the bed, and slowly sat up. He dragged his heavy steps out of the cave. After washing up with cool water, he felt a little more refreshed.

Since the beginning of summer, he had been feeling listless. It was hot outside and stuffy inside the cave. He would break out in a sweat after just a few steps, feeling sticky and uncomfortable all over.

Mo used to take Bai Ze to the pools in the deep mountains to escape the summer heat, but the place was very humid and cold. The shaman said that staying there for too long would be bad for one's health. Moreover, the journey there and back was bumpy and there were often wild animals. So he stopped taking people there.

He built a bamboo shed under the trees outside the cave and constructed a pool with stones to bring in the stream water, which made it cool when there was a breeze.

Bai Ze's gaze fell on the earthenware pot on the table. He leaned closer and saw that it was freshly made fruit tea with ice cubes in it. His eyes lit up instantly. He quietly poured a large bowl of it and gulped down a few mouthfuls. He felt refreshed and revitalized.

Just as he was about to have another bowl, a shadow suddenly fell over him. He looked up and saw Mo picking up the earthenware pot on the table, his brows furrowed slightly: "You can't drink too much cold food."

"We need to eat first."

Bai Ze stared pitifully at the iced fruit tea: "It's so hot, I'm so thirsty."

Mo placed the earthenware jar into the water vat to chill it, then poured water over and said gently, "You can drink a few more cups of this."

Bai Ze's little temper flared up. He took the drink but didn't drink it. He drooped his head, lowered his eyes, and even the strands of hair seemed to say, "I'm not happy."

Mo leaned over and kissed Bai Ze, but Bai Ze still ignored him, turning his face away and showing him the "angry" back of his head.

During special times, we should be more tolerant and caring towards our partners, especially when it comes to the people we love most.

Mo's heart immediately softened. He brought over the breakfast that was still warm in the pot and patiently coaxed, "If you finish all of this, you can have another drink."

Bai Ze was already starving, so he took advantage of the deal and immediately started munching on a roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) and a braised duck leg.

Mo peeled a boiled egg for him, and occasionally fed him a couple of bites of vegetables and grilled meat, his expression even more gentle and doting than when he was raising a child.

After eating and drinking their fill, Bai Ze took advantage of the fact that it wasn't too hot yet and strolled around the cave with Mo. When the sun got too strong, they lay on a cool mat, munching on fruit and enjoying their partner's fan.

As trade increased, the market expanded, and manpower became insufficient, especially as the summer harvest season approached.

During his school days, Jue was an outstanding student, and now he has naturally been entrusted with an important task by the clan chief, who has put him in charge of leading Xi and the others to assist the tribe in external trade.

As expected, Jue lived up to expectations, taking inventory of the supplies even faster than the adults. She had a clear understanding of what goods were plentiful, what goods were scarce, what each tribe produced, and the optimal exchange ratio.

A group of fifteen- or sixteen-year-old boys actually did a pretty good job.

Whenever the chieftain passed by, he was overjoyed and exclaimed that the tribe had a worthy successor and a bright future ahead!

He had even planned that, years later, if someone asked him how he had built the tribe into what it was, he would wave his hand, smile smugly, and say, "Nothing special, just pure good fortune."

The weather is unpredictable during the rainy season, and torrential rain can come suddenly, sometimes lasting for several days in a row.

After the crops were fully ripe, people quickly began harvesting. A lot of farmland was cultivated, and almost everyone in the tribe went to the fields, except for some people left at the market.

Bai Ze's situation was special, so Mo was naturally worried and he and Jue took turns watching over him at home. Sometimes Qing and Xing would also go, but in short, they couldn't let him be alone.

When it's cool in the early morning and evening, Bai Ze would occasionally go to the fields to take a look. Seeing the cartloads of grain always filled him with a sense of satisfaction.

Before the torrential rains arrived, people finally managed to harvest all the grain.

As the raindrops pattered down, the Black Panther tribe was gathered in the center of the village for a lively bonfire party. The sudden change in weather did not dampen their joy at the harvest. After moving into the cave, they continued to sing, dance, and drink.

Bai Ze chose a corner seat, in front of him was a beggar's chicken that Mo had just torn apart, tender and juicy.

Qing and Xing watched him eat the meat with gusto, their smiles filled with satisfaction. They joked, "This kid can really eat!"

The bonfire party would last until very late, so Mo decided to take Bai Ze back first.

He draped the raincoat over Bai Ze, wrapping him up tightly, then picked him up and walked steadily toward home.

The dampness, coolness, and noise were kept out of the raincoat. Bai Ze leaned against Mo, the sound of his deep, resonant heartbeat filling his ears.

Upon arriving at the cave, Mo Fubaize sat on a bench, lit candles, and began to make a fire to boil water.

After Bai Ze finished eating and drinking, he became sleepy. However, he had only dozed off for a short while when he was suddenly awakened by a sharp pain.

He paused for a moment, seemingly realizing what was happening, then quickly turned and called out, "Mo—"

Mo looked up: "What's wrong?"

"Don't be nervous." Bai Ze winced slightly. "I feel like something's wrong with me."

Mo stood up abruptly, his face turning several shades paler in an instant. His hand, which was gripping Bai Ze, was trembling, but he still managed to remain strong and calm, saying, "Don't be afraid, the Great Shaman will be here soon."

"I'll stay with you."

Bai Ze's gaze fell on Mo's pale face, and he smiled lightly, feigning nonchalance: "It should be you. Don't be afraid."

"Calm down."

"I won't leave..."

……

Upon hearing the news, Jue ran home as fast as she could. Soon, Qing and the others arrived as well. They thought they would have to wait until dawn, but before long, a loud cry came from inside the cave.

Mo could barely stand. He leaned close to his partner's ear and called out in a hoarse voice, "Bai Ze?"

Bai Ze weakly replied, "I'm here..."

Mo's tense emotions finally eased a bit. She wiped her eyes haphazardly and leaned down to kiss him.

Lin smiled and said, "He's a lynx beastman."

"Silver hair and golden eyes, very beautiful."

Zhao smiled and said, "She's still very energetic."

"Listen to that loud voice."

After Jue came in, she moved closer to Bai Ze and softly called him "Uncle".

Bai Ze raised his hand, and Jue lowered his head.

He touched Jue's face, smiled gently, and said, "It's alright, don't worry."

Jue nodded obediently, the weight that had been hanging over her heart finally lifted: "Yes, Father, it's alright now."
