Every time Bai Ze saw Mo staring seriously at his stomach, he would say in a calm and steady voice, "Don't move around. Just go to sleep."

"If you make your father-in-law uncomfortable again, I really will beat you up."

"Your brother too, they'll each spank half of your butt."

Then, while he was seriously waving his hands twice in the air, Bai Ze wanted to laugh. But as he laughed, he felt nauseous and wanted to vomit. Seeing this, Mo became even more worried. His tense expression made it seem like he really wanted to take the boy out and give him a "severe" lesson.

With the comparison, Mo belatedly realized how well-behaved Jue was back then, hardly causing any trouble from beginning to end, and continued this "excellent style" as always, becoming a "model" child in the tribe.

Jue met Shang Mo's strange, slightly tender gaze and asked, puzzled, "Father, what's wrong?"

Mo looked away and said calmly, "It's nothing."

After staying at home for a long time, Bai Ze wanted to go out for a stroll. He hadn't been to the market for several days and didn't know if there were any new things there. So he picked out a thick fleece coat from the closet and put it on, along with a scarf.

The weather is cold in late autumn. The chilly west wind blows down the fallen leaves all over the ground. The once lush green mountains have turned mostly yellow. Another year is almost over.

Mo was chopping wood when he heard footsteps. He looked up, put down what he was doing, and went over to ask, "Why are you out here? It's windy outside."

Bai Ze grasped his warm hand: "I want to go to the market."

Mo hesitated for a moment: "There are a lot of people over there."

"Isn't it because of you?" Bai Ze shook their clasped hands, his eyes crinkling into a smile. "I'm actually hungry, so I thought I'd go get something to eat."

Mo nodded upon hearing this: "Wait for me a moment."

He changed his clothes, filled a kettle with hot water, and then put Bai Ze's hands into his pockets: "Let's go."

When passing by Qing's house, Bai Ze saw him sitting under a tree outside the cave, holding a bone needle and a piece of off-white animal hide, and carefully sewing with his head down.

Bai Ze leaned closer and asked curiously, "What are you doing?"

Qing looked up and smiled, unfolding the animal skin. It was a small coat with round ears on the hood. He said, "It's for the cub."

Bai Ze exclaimed in surprise, "It'll be a long time before we can wear these!"

Qing smiled, "What if he's a pretty kid?"

"We need to prepare more in advance."

Mo nodded in agreement: "Indeed."

Midway through, they went to see the A-Fu and the Beast Father, only to find that Lan was also making clothes, while Xiao was chopping wood with tools, and a tall stack of firewood had already been piled up next to him. He said he was going to send it over to them in case Bai Ze got cold during the cold wave.

The market is indeed very lively. In the past, when people came, they would just find a place anywhere and squeeze into the caves when it rained. Later, the chief sent people to clear an open space near the entrance of the tribe and dig a row of caves. They also built sheds against the mountain. Now, although the scale is large, everything is in good order.

Especially before the arrival of the cold wave, everyone stocked up on a lot of things. Many distant tribes rushed over, often bringing rare items, such as spices from desert tribes, fruits from snowy plateau tribes, and magical plants and animals obtained by the winged tribes during their explorations... Each time, Bai Ze's eyes were opened wide.

Two familiar figures were spotted in the crowd. Next to the rows of stalls, Zhao walked ahead, picking out items as she went, while Si followed behind, carrying a large pile of things and also holding food in her hands.

Si spotted them first: "You've come too."

Zhao turned around upon hearing the voice, took the candied hawthorn from Si's hand, and said with a smile, "Want a skewer?"

Before Bai Ze could speak, Mo replied first, "Great Shaman, you eat by yourself, he'll be eating later."

"That's true." Zhao leaned closer and whispered to Bai Ze, "These candied hawthorns aren't as good as yours."

Bai Ze smiled and said, "Then next time I make candied hawthorns, I'll have Jue bring you some."

Zhao's smile deepened: "Okay."

Fearing that Bai Ze might accidentally bump into something or trip over something on the ground, Mo was constantly on guard, putting his arm around Bai Ze's shoulder and completely encircling him in his arms, slowing down his pace considerably.

"Don't be so nervous," Bai Ze said with a helpless smile. "Nothing will happen, we're all walking on the side."

Mo shook his head: "I'm worried."

Bai Ze scratched his palm: "Then don't look so serious."

Mo pursed the corners of his mouth slightly upwards: "Mm."

After going around in circles, Bai Ze had changed quite a few things, so Mo could only carry them with one hand while holding his hand with the other.

When they arrived at the food stall, Mo led Bai Ze straight to Yan's stall. When Yan wasn't hunting, he often came over to cook, and his skills became increasingly refined. He was even quite famous among all the stalls.

He asked Bai Ze, "What do you want to eat?"

Bai Ze: "Let's make a crepe."

"Would you like some braised pork?"

Bai Ze shook his head.

Yan looked up: "What brings you two here?"

"Come and take a look." Mo's gaze fell on his stall, and he said, "I'd like two wraps, without braised pork, and with extra sweet potato shreds."

"Less chili, no need to pour broth over it."

"You've got quite a few requirements." Yan complained, but her hands quickly got to work. "Want some shredded radish? It'll cut the greasiness."

Mo: "Mm."

Bai Ze found a spot, sat down, and started eating. Mo opened the kettle, then went to get a bowl of wontons. When he brought it over, steam was rising from the bowl.

Mo scooped up a wonton: "Want to try one?"

Bai Ze didn't really want to eat: "I'll just have some soup."

Since autumn began, the sun has been setting earlier each day, and the temperature difference between noon and morning/evening has become greater.

Mo touched Bai Ze's slightly cold hand and said, "Let's go back."

Bai Ze nodded, and the two of them walked slowly towards home, stepping into the shadows of dusk. Every now and then, the evening breeze would blow the leaves down, and one of them drifted into his scarf.

As Mo picked it up, she casually brushed the stray hairs from his forehead.

Bai Ze looked up at the clouds in the sky.

Mo asked, "What are you looking at?"

Bai Ze said, "That cloud looks like a watermelon."

Mo: "I'll get you watermelon tomorrow."

Bai Ze smiled and said, "They're not available this season."

Mo: "I'll conjure it up for you tomorrow after you wake up from your nap."

Bai Ze assumed Mo was just coaxing a child, so he leaned over and kissed him: "Let's go, Great Magician."

Jue and Xi spent the whole day in the mountains, catching two full bags of shrimp before returning to the tribe before dark.

Because she was so wet, the wind made her feel quite cold, and Xi couldn't help but shiver: "Jue, let's go soak in the hot springs later."

"Okay, I'll take the shrimp back first." Jue quickened her pace. "I'll also bring you some food."

"OK!"

There wasn't much of a moon tonight. Mo squatted at the cave entrance, carefully processing the shrimp that Jue had brought back. The shrimp meat was very tender and didn't have much of a fishy smell. Bai Ze liked to eat them. He would steam them with ginger slices in a little while.
