In just one night, the delicious food made by Bai Ze spread throughout almost the entire tribe.

The next morning, as soon as the sun peeked over the horizon, the beastmen came to help, their numbers doubling from the day before.

Many sub-beastmen came from far and wide, bringing their own food in hopes of learning cooking from Bai Ze.

Mo, carrying the newly hunted sheep, was hurrying towards the cave, his feet treading through the dew in the forest.

Faced with these enthusiastic people, Bai Ze was momentarily at a loss, especially since Qing and Xing were not around.

In his past life, he didn't have many friends and a small social circle. He usually liked to stay at home and read books. Since his grandparents passed away, he has been all alone.

Being surrounded by so many strangers for the first time, especially in the center of the crowd, Bai Ze inevitably felt uneasy and could only pull Jue along to keep him company in order to ease his embarrassment.

Finally, after a period of torment, a familiar figure came into view. He felt as if he had seen a savior, so he walked over quickly and waved to Mo from afar.

Mo brushed the weeds off his clothes before approaching, and seeing Bai Ze's tense expression, he frowned slightly: "What's wrong?"

"It's alright." Bai Ze breathed a sigh of relief, shook his head, and then reached out to take the things from Mo's body.

"No need, I'll take it to the stream to process it."

Bai Ze immediately said, "I'll go with you."

Mo's gaze passed over Bai Ze's shoulder, landing on the people in front of the cave, then circled back to Bai Ze's face. After a moment's hesitation, he asked, "Are you afraid of people?"

Bai Ze was a little embarrassed and whispered, "Qing and Xing aren't here, and I'm not very familiar with everyone."

"Wait for me." Mo quickly went to the cave entrance, said a few words to Li and the others, and then took Bai Ze to the stream to process the prey.

They talked about doing it together, but it was all Mo who was doing it, cutting open bellies, skinning and bleeding.

Bai Ze was unfamiliar with such slaughtering scenes. Usually, he would only watch villagers kill a chicken or a pig during the New Year, and he would always keep his distance.

A red stain spread across the once clear water, and the metallic smell permeated the air.

Bai Ze wanted to help, but as soon as he got close, his body reacted to the strong smell of blood. He instinctively covered his nose and backed away, feeling nauseous.

Although beastmen are sensitive to the scent of their prey, they are already used to it, especially during hunting, where the blood of their prey only excites them more.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Mo noticed that Bai Ze's complexion was not good, so he stopped what he was doing and looked up to ask.

"No." Bai Ze bit his lip, suppressing the discomfort in his stomach, and kept telling himself to get used to it.

Mo quickened his pace and quickly finished processing the prey. He stood up and looked at Bai Ze: "Aren't you leaving?"

Bai Ze rubbed his calves: "My legs are numb."

Mo reached out his hand, and Bai Ze grasped it, using it to help him stand up.

The moment our palms touched, a cool sensation traveled through my skin.

Mo frowned and looked at Bai Ze: "Is it cold?"

"No, my hands just got wet," Bai Ze said casually.

Mo released his grip only after Bai Ze had regained his footing. He rubbed his fingertips together, lost in thought.

Inside the cave, the beastmen were working diligently, and with more people around, their work speed had increased considerably.

Qing and Xing had already arrived and were tidying up the makeshift stove outside. When Bai Ze saw his partner, he perked up.

Mo and Jue talked about something, and the child turned to look at his father. For almost the entire morning afterward, he kept glancing at Bai Ze and would occasionally come over.

The sheep-like beast resembles a modern black goat, with dark fur and two thick, sharp horns. It has now been divided into several parts by the ink, and its meat is bright red and firm, looking delicious.

Bai Ze blanched half of the sheep meat, then stewed it in a large pot with ginger slices and wild scallions, while using the other half to make lamb skewers.

They don't even need to be called when it's time to eat; the beastmen are already waiting on the side.

The stewed mutton is tender and falls off the bone, and the warm broth warms you right up to your stomach, leaving a lingering fragrance on your lips and teeth.

Bai Ze was serving soup when two figures stopped in front of him. He looked up and saw that Yuan and Bai Qing were staring at him.

The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.

Qing and Xing exchanged a glance, pursed their lips and remained silent. Yan, who was enjoying his meal, also put down his chopsticks and quickly gave Mo a wink. Xi even ran to Jue's side and stared at them warily.

Everyone in the tribe knew that Bai Ze had a good relationship with his adoptive father's family. Even after he became Mo's partner, he almost always obeyed Yuan and his family.

During the cold wave, they even gave the food from home to Yuan and the others. Jue was so hungry that she went out to find food in the snow and almost froze to death. If Mo hadn't returned from hunting early and everyone had gone to look for food together, she probably would have died long ago.

Therefore, anyone with a modicum of sense would have reservations about Bai Ze's behavior. Seeing that Bai Ze had gradually changed a lot, everyone's hearts were in their throats when Yuan and Bai Qing arrived.

Yuan smiled broadly: "Bai Ze, I specially invited a high-ranking shaman to treat you. How are you? Are you feeling better now?"

"It's fine," Bai Ze replied with a forced smile.

Bai Qing asked with considerable suspicion, "Did you make this food?"

Bai Ze ignored him. Yuan was nominally an elder, so what was he?

"I'm talking to you." Bai Qing was angry at being ignored, her brows furrowing together.

Yuan quickly tugged at him, pretending to scold him: "How dare you talk to your brother like that?"

Bai Qing glanced at Bai Ze sideways, then turned her head away.

The broth in the pot was steaming and smelled delicious. Yuan couldn't help but swallow hard. "Bai Ze, come on, serve a bowl to your father and your brother."

Bai Ze raised his spoon, ladled out a bowl, and handed it to Qing just as Yuan was about to take it. Then he ladled out another bowl for Xing.

He said, oblivious to everyone else, "Drink it while it's hot, it won't taste good when it gets cold."

Yuan clenched her fists, her face alternating between pale and flushed.

His face showed sorrow: "Bai Ze, can't even my father drink the soup his own child cooked?"

"Of course, this is yours," Bai Ze said with a smile as he served the food. "Everyone's been wondering why, since my father dotes on me so much, you and Bai Qing aren't helping me dig this cave."

Bai Ze handed the bowl to Yuan, and then filled a bowl for Bai Qing.

Seeing that Bai Ze was very nice, the two reluctantly accepted it, picked up their bowls and drank a few mouthfuls; the taste was indeed quite good.

Bai Ze smiled and continued, "Thank you for your help, Father and Brother. There might be a lot of pots and pans later, so I'll have to trouble you to wash them."

Yuan and Bai Qing looked up immediately, their eyes filled with disbelief.

"Me, wash the dishes?" Bai Qing exclaimed in surprise. He never did it at home, but now Bai Ze was actually making him wash the pots and pans!

Bai Ze feigned ignorance: "What's wrong? Didn't you come here to help?"

Everyone turned to look at them.

Mo was also taken aback; clearly, everything before him was beyond his expectations.

Xing, standing nearby, immediately stepped in as the strongest supporter: "Yes, Bai Ze praises you and Bai Qing for how good you are to him every day; it's truly touching."

Bai Zechong raised an eyebrow, his eyes full of praise.

Yuan, who was being held high, nodded with a forced smile: "Oh right, your father and brother came here specifically to help."

And so, a few bowls of soup were exchanged for Yuan and Bai Qing's hard work of scrubbing pots and washing dishes.

Bai Ze was overjoyed.

Having witnessed the whole thing, Yan nudged Mo with his elbow: "Your guy is really something!"
