Rebirth in 1972: Redemption in Changbai Mountain

Chapter 610 Wolves Block the Way, Tiger Suddenly Appears

Zhou Rui's adrenaline surged, and he felt a surge of excitement.

Zhou Rui wasn't doing this for anyone in particular, not for the sake of the farm's food, nor for any subsequent commendation.

He just suddenly became interested in the wolf king he had never seen before and wanted to be its rival.

The first shot came quickly; Zhou Rui selected the last wolf from a pack of five.

The moment the first wolf fell, Gu Shaofeng's gunshot rang out, blasting a hole in the back of the middle wolf.

Zhou Rui fired a second shot, missing the head but hitting the wolf's foreleg as it turned around.

"Chase him!" Zhou Rui grabbed his gun and ran.

He had planned this all along: kill half and leave the other half, using the remaining wolves to find the wolf king.

Gu Shaofeng felt his blood boil instantly. He braced the butt of his rifle against his shoulder and, without thinking, followed Zhou Rui into the shadows.

The dogs on the haystack couldn't contain themselves any longer and jumped down, barking wildly, making a rustling sound as the haystack was kicked up.

The moonlight cast long shadows of the two men, and the wolf blood on the ground dripped into a string of dark red dots, clearly visible to Zhou Rui's abnormal eyesight.

The wolf with the broken front leg limped as it ran, but its speed didn't slow down at all, clearly knowing the ditches and ridges of this wasteland like the back of its hand.

Gu Shaofeng was out of breath from running, but he still managed to fire a couple more shots into the dark figure ahead. The bullets grazed the wolf's ear and embedded themselves in the embankment, sending up a trail of gravel.

"Don't fire recklessly, you're wasting bullets." Zhou Rui growled without turning his head, his steps never faltering.

He had already figured it out; these wolves weren't the vanguard for a sneak attack at all, but rather bait being driven towards the farm.

The real wolf king is definitely hiding in the forest ahead, waiting to see the humans lose their composure.

Bang bang bang.

Gunshots rang out from other directions in the distance, and Zhou Rui knew that the battle between humans and werewolves had begun tonight.

Before the arrangements were made that night, Uncle Guai had told us that the hunters should shoot any wolves that showed their heads tonight, and try to leave as many wolves alive as possible.

He wanted to see if the wolf king could remain in control if the wolf pack suffered heavy losses.

Awooo... Awooo...

Zhou Rui turned his head. That was the wolf king, commanding all the wild wolves under his command.

Zhou Rui turned around and looked at the lame wolf, which was trying to lure him away.

"Big Yellow, rush forward and leave it here."

Zhou Rui realized that his initial idea was unreliable, so he had no choice but to kill the wolf and think of another way.

The dogs had been kept under Zhou Rui's orders to slow down, and they had been holding their breath for a while.

At Zhou Rui's command, the five dogs were incredibly excited, instantly transforming into five sharp arrows, their target the wolf ahead.

The wolf with the broken leg had already lost too much blood and was dragging itself toward the edge of the forest with all its might when it was stopped by the hunting dogs, forcing it to stand upright.

The remaining three legs dug three deep trenches in the moonlight, and a fierce, whimpering roar rolled from its throat.

However, Big Yellow is a ferocious beast in the wild, and it is not afraid of wolves even when one-on-one. With its companions Iron Head, Big Hair, and others behind it, it has no fear at all.

Without pausing the instant they rushed over, they pounced straight at them.

The whole process was too easy. The wolf had no chance to resist at all. The five dogs had already tackled the wolf to the ground and torn it to shreds.

Zhou Rui holstered his gun, reloaded it, and sent his sixth sense towards the direction of the wolf king's howl.

His sixth sense was dense with information, allowing him to distinguish between humans and wolves, but he couldn't identify which one was the wolf king.

But it doesn't matter, as long as he searches one spot at a time, he will find the Wolf King sooner or later.

Instead of returning to the farm's planting area, Zhou Rui swept across the entire perimeter of the field.

Some were just emerging from the forest, others were driven back by hunters after setbacks on the farm; without exception, they all fell to the guns of Zhou Rui and Gu Shaofeng.

At least eight or nine wolves fell to the muzzle of their guns; none survived, almost all of them died the moment they touched them.

The howls of wolves in the woods grew louder and louder, and wild wolves echoed from the surrounding area from time to time.

Zhou Rui stopped in his tracks, his brows furrowed.

He was puzzled. The wolf pack had suffered such heavy losses from last night to today, so why was the wolf king still sending the wolves to fight one after another?

"Ruiwa, what's wrong? Why did you stop walking?" Gu Shaofeng finally caught up, only to find Zhou Rui standing there stiffly, not moving at all.

Several dogs, who had been leading the way, turned around and circled around the two people when they saw they had stopped.

Something's not right.

"What's wrong?"

"Something's not right with the wolf pack." Zhou Rui freed one hand and rubbed his index finger under his nose.

The strong smell of gunpowder cleared Zhou Rui's head considerably.

Gu Shaofeng shook his neck: "Nothing's wrong. Just like last night, the wolves are scattered, and there are alarms everywhere."

"If you encounter someone, back away; if no one is around, venture deeper into the farm."

Zhou Rui retorted, "It's different from last night."

"Last night, the wolves lured us around, avoiding direct confrontation. From nightfall to dawn, only thirteen wolves died."

"It's only been two hours, and the wolf pack has already suffered heavy losses?"

As Zhou Rui spoke, he looked out at the black thorny thicket in the wilderness, his sixth sense surfacing.

Unfortunately, the distance was too short, and the wolf king's voice remained outside the range of perception.

Zhou Rui had an impulse to just ignore everything and head straight for Black Mountain, to capture the leader first and kill the alpha wolf.

"Ruiwa, if you ask me, don't think about it." Gu Shaofeng is single-minded, but he has one advantage: he never wastes time on things he can't figure out.

"Let's keep killing, let's slaughter these wolves until their blood flows like a river, let's wipe out this pack, and then let's see what the wolf king will use to be king."

Zhou Rui smiled at Gu Shaofeng, surprised that his senior brother had such a bloodthirsty nature.

However, this is also a viable option: kill the wolf king and leave him all alone, then it won't matter whether he has the throne or not.

"Let's go, keep killing." Zhou Rui picked up his gun again and was about to run forward.

hoo hoo...

A strong wind swept through the mountains and forests, and the ground trembled twice.

"Mountain lord?"

"tiger?"

Zhou Rui and Gu Shaofeng exchanged a glance, their faces filled with disbelief.

"Damn, where did this tiger come from? Why isn't it staying deep in the mountains and forests? What's it doing on the farm?"

Gu Shaofeng was dumbfounded, as was Zhou Rui.

Tigers usually live deep in the mountains, but occasionally they venture to the edge of the forest.

But to say that you've come directly to this vast plain farm feels like reading a fairy tale.

However, the wolf king is so powerful that even tigers have to obey its commands.

hoo hoo...

Then another tiger roar interrupted Zhou Rui's thoughts, and he saw a huge shadow pounce down from the hillside, heading straight for the farm.

"Let's go, we can't let it into the farm. If the old mountain lord causes trouble inside the farm, I don't know how many people will die."

Zhou Rui pulled Gu Shaofeng, who was still in a daze, and ran towards the field.
