Ten seconds passed.

No one surrendered.

The soldiers were still firing their guns, the artillerymen were still firing their cannons, and the fighter jets were still diving.

No one laid down their weapons.

No one knelt down.

Even the elderly and children hiding in the back peeked out from the ruins, their eyes fixed on the black figure on the river.

The God of Calamity's face darkened.

Just as it was about to speak, two figures suddenly rushed out from the crowd and lunged straight at its face.

It is Fu Shiwei and Fu Wanqing.

Fu Shiwei's longsword drew a deep blue arc, the blade slicing into the shoulder of the God of Calamity, splattering a trail of black blood.

Fu Wanqing's palm strike followed closely, slamming into its chest.

The god of calamity was forced back half a step by the two attacks.

It lowered its head, looked at the two women covered in blood but with burning eyes, and suddenly smiled.

That smile was devoid of warmth, like a crack in the surface of ice.

"With you guys."

"With us."

Fu Wanqing wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and assumed the starting stance of the Fu family's ancient martial arts.

Her long pink hair was whipped about by the river wind, and her face still bore the bloodstains from the battle, but her eyes shone with an alarming brightness.

"Grandma didn't retire."

"Father didn't retire either."

"No one in the Fu family is a deserter."

Fu Shiwei remained silent.

She held the long sword horizontally in front of her, and the deep blue flames on the blade reignited.

Her amber pupils reflected the face of the god of calamity, like two flames burning beneath a layer of ice.

She is different from Fu Wanqing.

She wasn't used to saying those impassioned things.

She only speaks with a knife.

And her knife had already been slashed out.

They fought the god of calamity for two hours.

Fu Shiwei's knife broke twice in two hours.

When the knife broke for the first time, she picked up the broken half from the ground and continued hacking.

When it broke the second time, she simply threw away the handle and smashed it with her fist.

Her finger bones cracked one by one, and blood gushed from between her fingers, staining her entire hand red.

Fu Wanqing's metacarpal bone was also fractured, so she used her elbows, knees, and head.

Her forehead struck the scales of the god of calamity, causing blood to flow freely.

They were repeatedly thrown into the air, crashing into the river embankment, into the ruins, and into the river.

But each time, they got back up.

They were like two fires that could not be extinguished no matter how much water was poured on them, and even the god of calamity was getting impatient with them.

Finally, Fu Shiwei's right arm was burned by the black mist and he couldn't lift it, while Fu Wanqing's leg was broken by the palm wind of the God of Calamity.

The two fell together, back to back, unable to stand up again.

But they are still alive.

They were still laughing.

"Sis, do you think he'll yell at us when he comes back and sees us like this?"

Fu Wanqing's voice was so soft it was almost a whisper.

"meeting."

Fu Shiwei answered very softly.

"So he has to hurry."

The god of calamity raised his hand, preparing to deliver the final blow.

Just then, two figures emerged from the depths of the black tide.

Chiyomiya Hanyu's pheasant sword slashed through the sky, its dark red light splitting a crack in the black barrier summoned by the god of calamity.

Shen Youyao's spiritual spear followed closely behind, piercing through the crack and striking the God of Calamity's brow.

They finally slew the King of Calamity before them and charged forward, covered in blood.

"Your opponent is us."

Chiyomiya Hanyu's voice remained calm, but every word carried a chilling edge.

Her kimono was no longer recognizable as its original color, and she was covered in blood, some of it her own, and some of it from calamities.

Shen Youyao's pupils rapidly switched between brown and blood red.

The two voices overlapped, like a two-part war song.

"We won't let you touch them."

They played for several more hours.

Chiyomiya Habu's sealing array was laid out layer by layer, only to be torn apart layer by layer by the God of Calamity.

Her fingers were torn and bleeding from the backlash as she formed the hand seals, but she did not stop.

Shen Youyao's mental energy was almost exhausted, and blood was seeping from her eyes, ears, and nose.

But she persisted.

Finally, Yuzuru's pheasant sword was shattered by the God of Calamity, and Youyao's spiritual sea was shaken to the brink of collapse.

Both of them fell down, landing next to the Fu sisters.

Four women lay side by side in a pool of blood, breathing faintly, but their eyes were still open.

Then came Lin Jinyu and Pei Yuran.

They fought their way through their own battlefield, one engulfed in fading golden flames, the other covered in shattered ice crystals.

They rushed to the god of calamity, and without saying a word, they attacked.

Golden flames and icy sword energy intertwined, like a symphony of ice and fire.

The ensemble music shook the river to its core and changed the color of the sky.

They held on for several hours.

Finally, Lin Jinyu's flames were completely extinguished, and Pei Yuran's ice crystals shattered completely.

The two of them sat back to back, slowly sliding down to their seats on the ground.

Their hands were still clasped together, as if they were using their last strength to tell each other something.

It's not over yet.

Then, even more top-tier combatants rushed over.

The survivors of the god-making project.

Thunderwalker, dragging his battered body, unleashed a final burst of lightning.

Aurora Warrior used her last strength to build a wall of light.

The steel statue clung tightly to the leg of the god of calamity with its cracked metal arms.

The king of the jungle wrapped vines around its waist.

The Lord of Sandstorms blinded himself with sand.

The monkey god transformed and jumped onto its back, pressing down with all its might.

The Demon Blade launched a sneak attack from the side, while the Abyss Lancers charged from the front.

They charged forward one after another, only to be knocked away one after another.

But the people behind them kept pushing forward.

Soldiers, bayonets at their sides, carrying explosive charges, and pushing cannons that had run out of ammunition, surged like a tide toward that invincible force.

The god of calamity was finally getting annoyed.

It swept away more than a dozen people with one palm and roared towards the battlefield.

"You ants!"

"Why haven't you given up yet!"

"He abandoned you!"

"What exactly are you insisting on?!"

A veteran covered in blood got up from the ground.

His leg was broken, so he used a gun to support it.

He raised his head, looked at the god of calamity, and grinned a bloody smile.

"Commander Gu said he would come back."

"He will come back."

"We believe in him."

"right."

"We believe in him."

A young nurse rushed over with a medical kit, stuffed gauze into the wounded soldier's hand, and then picked up the gun from the ground.

"We believe in him."

A teenager crawled out of the rubble, clutching a piece of broken brick in his hand.

"We believe in him."

The sounds grew more numerous and louder.

The elderly, women, and children—the civilians who should have been evacuated—all came out at some unknown time.

They were carrying hoes, kitchen knives, wooden sticks, and stones.

They had no superpowers, no spiritual power, only pairs of eyes that still shone brightly in despair.

An elderly woman with white hair walked to the front, leaning on a cane.

She bent over and spoke softly, but everyone heard her.

"Commander Gu saved my granddaughter's life."

"I'll give him my life today."

"My child, this old woman is going first."

"You have to come back."

She raised her cane and walked shakily toward the god of calamity.
