Huayu Entertainment: The Birth of a Succubus Top Star

The day after speaking with Xu Zheng, Gu Zhiyan met the actress he had mentioned.

This person has quite a few stories to tell.

Her starting point in the industry can be considered the pinnacle for newcomers in the Chinese entertainment circle!

She skipped all the "extra" stages right from the start and landed the lead role in a movie!

The collaborators are either kung fu superstars like Jackie Chan and Donnie Yen, or award-winning actors like Sun Honglei and Wu Zhenyu.

Later, he went straight into Hollywood and starred in international blockbusters such as "Kong: Skull Island" and "Pacific Rim 2"!

With these resources, who in the Chinese entertainment industry wouldn't be envious?

Therefore, speculation about his background is rampant.

Despite having good resources, her acting skills have always been controversial.

Surrounded by many veteran actors, her performance often seemed out of place, and she was criticized by netizens for "poor acting skills and seriously dragging the team down."

Starting too high and lacking the necessary skills exposed her weaknesses, thus firmly attaching the label of "resource-backed actress" to her.

By now, everyone should know who this A-list actress is.

That's right, she is Jing Tian, the "unpopular but successful actress"!

Besides the label of "unable to become famous", she is also widely known as: a flower of wealth and beauty!

Looking at Jing Tian sitting opposite him, Gu Zhiyan felt that the title "Human Beauty and Wealth" was truly well-deserved.

A full, smooth heart-shaped face with a rounded forehead, bright features, slightly upturned eyes, and fair, delicate skin that seems to glow...

If I had to describe it in one word, it would be: perfectly round and smooth!

No wonder there's a saying circulating: "If you have Faye Wong, choose Faye Wong; if you don't have Faye Wong, choose Yuen Woo-ping; if you have neither Faye Wong nor Yuen Woo-ping, choose Ching Tin."

Big Bear, fair-skinned and beautiful.

Gu Zhiyan couldn't help but compare Jing Tian to Yang Mi. Hmm, she didn't seem to be any smaller than Yang Mi, and the Winnie the Pooh on her T-shirt was stretched out quite high.

No wonder she's from the same generation as Yang Mi, and is called "Da Tian Tian".

However, compared to Yang Mi's constant marketing of "youthful charm," Da Tian Tian in front of us truly exudes "youthful charm," even though she is already twenty-nine years old.

A pair of beautiful, large eyes revealed a hint of "clear-eyed foolishness," as she secretly observed Gu Zhiyan.

Whenever Gu Zhiyan looked at Jing Tian, she would nervously look away.

This made Gu Zhiyan wonder if she was some kind of bad person.

Jing Tian: I don't know if he's a bad person or not, but his eyes are a bit mischievous, he keeps staring at Winnie the Pooh.

Jing Tian knew Gu Zhiyan very well.

A top-tier celebrity, star of a film with a box office of 6 billion yuan, and the leading figure in the new generation of singers...

Scandal generator, CP fanatic, heartbreaker...

These labels caught Jing Tian's attention even more, making her feel that this person was a bit "scary".

It's just making a movie; she doesn't want to inexplicably ruin her life.

However, Gu Zhiyan's track record of "boosting the careers of actresses" is also verifiable, which is quite tempting.

This is also why Jing Tian, who only received a symbolic small amount of payment, still wanted to star in this movie.

The reason Xu Zheng asked Gu Zhiyan out was because he told her that he was very happy for her to play the role, but it would be best to get Gu Zhiyan's consent.

Jing Tian is well aware of her current situation. Every movie she stars in flops, and she has been dubbed the "King of Bad Movies" and "Box Office Poison" by the industry.

The 2011 film "The Warring States" had an investment of 1.5 million yuan and featured a cast of talented actors, including Sun Honglei and Wu Zhenyu, supporting Jing Tian. However, it only grossed 1.19 million yuan and failed to recoup its costs.

Released in 2012, "Time Raiders" grossed approximately 1000 million RMB, "New Mom, Love Me Again" grossed approximately 800 million RMB, and "Shadow Lover" grossed approximately 1800 million RMB.

Released in 2013, "Special Identity" was also a big-budget production with a kung fu superstar like Donnie Yen as her co-star, but it only grossed 1.88 million yuan, far below expectations, further reinforcing her reputation as a "box office poison."

Although "Police Story 2013" grossed over 5 million, it was a Jackie Chan film, and outsiders did not believe that Jing Tian played any role in it.

The 2016 film "The Great Wall" had an investment of 10 billion RMB and was a large-scale Sino-US co-production, featuring many well-known domestic and international actors such as Matt Damon, Andy Lau, and Willem Dave.

Although the final box office reached 11.73 billion yuan, considering its high production costs and the expectation of global distribution, this box office performance was considered to be less than ideal.

The film "Youthful Days," released this year, grossed approximately 3000 million RMB.

Kong: Skull Island grossed approximately $5.66 million worldwide.

Jing Tian plays a biologist in the film, but her role is small.

The film's box office success is mainly attributed to the classic "King Kong" IP and its strong Hollywood production.

Okay, the movie's success has nothing to do with Da Tian Tian, but its box office failure is all her fault.

After a series of box office flops and a downgrade in resources, Jing Tian, who debuted as a "movie star," is now "condescending" to film TV dramas.

Fortunately, the drama "The Glory of Tang Dynasty" helped Jing Tian recover her losses, and audiences realized that she also had acting skills.

For Jing Tian, "The Glory of Tang Dynasty" was a successful "recognition" work.

It not only reversed public doubts about her acting skills and broadened her career path, but also enhanced her national popularity and commercial value through the mass appeal of the series.

As Jing Tian listened to her agent and Gu Zhiyan's conversation, she felt a little uneasy. The title of "box office poison" was something that people really wanted to avoid.

"Teacher Gu, we really appreciate this opportunity to work with you. Tian Tian will try her best to cooperate. What do you mean?"

Jing Tian's agent also felt a little sad, thinking back to her past glory, when had she ever been so humble as to beg for help?

"I have no objection; let's all cooperate."

Gu Zhiyan really didn't have any objections. It was unfair to attribute the film's failure entirely to Jing Tian's problems.

Are the screenwriter, director, and male lead all okay?

The movie failed at the box office, and all these people went into hiding, focusing all their firepower on one girl, which was really a bit too much.

However, this is also due to Da Tian Tian's team having a poor eye for choosing scripts.

Moreover, the controversial and topical Da Tian Tian is indeed a good "tool" to attract attention and take the blame.

"Oh, so Teacher Gu has agreed to cooperate with our Tian Tian?"

Jing Tian's agent was clearly surprised, because Gu Zhiyan had agreed so readily.

You know, they've been approached by quite a few film projects recently, and without exception, they've all ended in failure.

"Producer Xu has already agreed, so naturally I have no objections." Gu Zhiyan shook his head.

Jing Tian stared at Gu Zhiyan with her beautiful eyes and suddenly felt that this person was not so "scary".

Well, I won't hold it against him for staring at her Winnie the Pooh earlier!
