The boy soldier next to the famous detective

Chapter 298 I'm good at this job

Jonah spoke casually, but the state of the three people around him was anything but simple.

Ran Mouri and Conan Edogawa, the two people involved, blushed instantly. Although they thought the same thing, the intense shame of having Jonah say it to their faces made them momentarily at a loss for what to do.

Ran Mouri might be in a better position than Conan Edogawa, since she originally planned to talk to her best friend Sonoko Suzuki about it. After all, she didn't know who else to talk to besides Sonoko about Shinichi Kudo's confession.

Conan Edogawa, on the other hand, was simply shy. After all, he was the one who confessed, and he had been chasing after Ran Mouri all the way to confess on a busy bridge.

But clearly, no one cares about his shyness now.

Needless to say, Sonoko Suzuki, upon hearing Jonah's words and seeing Ran Mouri's reaction, knew it was true. She couldn't suppress her smile, and her eyes shone with excitement.

"Xiaolan, Xiaolan, tell me quickly, what happened!"

"Okay, okay, I'll tell you!"

Because you exposed what was hidden in her heart, Ran Mouri abandoned her shyness and spoke about what she had long wanted to talk to Sonoko Suzuki about, in a tone that was both slightly shy and proud.

"That brat Shinichi is really something."

Having heard the whole story, Sonoko Suzuki, feeling extremely satisfied, looked at Ran Mouri with a mischievous grin and said teasingly.

"But in that situation, it's less like Shinichi confessed on his own initiative and more like he was forced to confess by Ran~"

"Forced? Well, you could call it that."

"So, did you answer him?"

"Answer what?" Ran Mouri looked blankly at Sonoko Suzuki. Although she felt that she might be being fooled by her best friend, the confusion and nervousness of first love made her unable to help but continue the conversation with Sonoko Suzuki.

As someone who had experienced it firsthand, Jonah wasn't interested in the two women's conversation. His biggest expectation for coming here today was to browse the school anniversary food street that Kogoro Mouri had mentioned as having delicious food.

Jonah glanced at Kogoro Mouri, who was still passionately speaking on the podium, and then at Sonoko Suzuki and Ran Mouri beside him, who were speaking softer and softer but getting more and more excited. He blinked and wondered if he should sneak away to wander around and find something good to eat.

"Jonah, what are you doing? Are we leaving?"

"Um?"

Looking at Conan with a puzzled expression, Jonah followed him and learned from Conan that while he was in a daze, Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki had agreed to go to a club member's place to visit the school festival they were preparing.

"Hey, is it a haunted house?"

Following the college students to the event location, Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki discovered that it was a haunted house.

The two girls, who were afraid of ghosts, instinctively wanted to refuse, but after being warmly invited over, they were too embarrassed to speak. They could only stick together tightly and even grabbed onto Conan Edogawa and Jonah to make themselves seem less scared.

Compared to the two women's fear, Jonah calmly walked into the haunted house. Looking at the various monsters, zombies, and ghosts in the dimly lit environment, he didn't feel much of a stir.

The props were fairly well made, but compared to the animal-shaped monsters on TV, these humanoid non-humans didn't add any sense of fear to Jonah.

Any humanoid creature is a potential threat or even an enemy to Jonah in an unsafe environment, but Jonah is not afraid of enemies.

Leading the way, Jonah led Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki through most of the haunted house passages and arrived at a room decorated like an operating room. Jonah looked at the person lying on the hospital bed in the center of the room and the doctors surrounding the bed, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Compared to the previous atmosphere, this last room before the customs exit is indeed decorated in a much better style.

Based on Jonah's understanding of Sonoko Suzuki and Ran Mouri, he knew that if the person on the bed made even the slightest movement when they walked past the hospital bed, the two women would scream and be unable to move an inch.

Sure enough, as Jonah walked ahead, preparing to pass in front of the hospital bed, the previously stable bed suddenly began to shake violently.

Screams came from behind him from Sonoko Suzuki and Ran Mouri, but Jonah's gaze was drawn to the 'patient' on the hospital bed.

Jonah had initially thought the patient would move around to scare him, but now it seemed the bed had a mechanism that moved the actor on it along with it.

If it were a real person moving, then the actress's upper body posture should be more exaggerated, like her legs kicking out from under the covers... Hmm?

Jonah stopped in his tracks, frowning as he watched the actor's feet suddenly kick wildly for a while before settling down. Something felt off.

Although the room was dimly lit to match the haunted house atmosphere, Jonah's eyesight allowed him to quickly identify information even in the dim light.

When Conan Edogawa entered the room, he mentioned that the actress playing the role on the hospital bed was the female college student they had met at the entrance of the haunted house.

Jonah estimated the woman's height to be no more than 162cm, but the feet sticking out from under the covers seemed a bit too big for a woman who was only 162cm tall.

Jonah was a little confused, but he didn't say anything. After all, there are some unique individuals with different bodies, and there's no need to make people feel embarrassed by saying it.

Jonah stared indifferently at the intimidating male college students who emerged from the shadows on either side. He looked helplessly at Sonoko Suzuki and Ran Mouri, who had been frightened several times but had finally calmed down. He couldn't understand their decision to get involved despite being terrified.

"Hey, Anzai, why aren't you up yet? The performance is over."

"Yes, didn't you want to hear the guests' feedback? Stop pretending to be asleep."

Things always take an unexpected turn for the worse. When Jonah saw the two male college students shaking the actor on the hospital bed without getting a response, he realized something was wrong.

Jonah glanced at Conan Edogawa, Sonoko Suzuki, and Ran Mouri beside him, and then thought about Kogoro Mouri who was still speaking on the stage outside. Jonah walked forward blankly and put his hand on the neck of the female college student named Anza.

"She's dead."

Yes, that's for sure; Jonah wasn't surprised at all by this outcome.

So, it seems there really was something wrong with those feet that I thought were strange before. Although I haven't studied them systematically, Jonah has seen so many crime scenes with Conan Edogawa that he can still make some basic judgments.

Seeing that Conan Edogawa had taken control of the scene and arranged for Ran Mouri to call the police, Jonah looked around and, finding no one else in the room, raised his hand and tugged at Sonoko Suzuki's sleeve.

"Hmm? What's wrong, Jonah?"

Subconsciously looking down, Sonoko Suzuki immediately saw that the chain on Jonah's backpack was open, and Jonah was holding a bundle of rope specially made by Professor Agasa.

"...I understand, leave the girl to me."

"Um."
