Pei Zeyu coughed violently, his back arched, and he clenched his right fist to cover his lips, trying his best to suppress the cough, but it was no use.

Liu Wenying tossed aside the wild fruit in her hand and strode closer.

"Second Master, please forgive me."

She spoke softly, her tone natural and familiar.

Her hand was already on his back, gently helping him catch his breath.

Pei Zeyu's cough subsided, but his breathing remained rapid.

Her face was close enough to touch, her eyelashes drooping, casting a small shadow under her eyes.

She is honest and cannot hide anything, nor can she lie well.

So what she just said is true.

This realization dissipated most of the inexplicable frustration in his chest.

Even the burning pain in my throat from the violent coughing seemed to lessen.

The wind outside the cave grew stronger. Liu Wenying comforted Pei Zeyu and, seeing that he had stopped coughing, got up and walked to the pile of wood branches.

She picked through the dry branches and then picked up a thicker piece of wood.

They moved the items to the inside of the cave, to the dry ground away from the wind, and began to tinker with them.

The high fever blurred Pei Zeyu's vision, but he could still see her movements clearly.

He understood her intention.

"You want to start a fire by rubbing sticks together... it's not that easy."

Liu Wenying did not stop. She laid the rough log flat on the ground and used an arrow to carve a shallow groove.

"We should still give it a try. We don't know when the rescue will arrive, and we can't just keep waiting like this."

A fire can provide warmth, ward off wild animals, and also allow us to cook food.

As Liu Wenying spoke, she clasped her hands together and began to rub them rapidly.

On the first attempt, the branch slipped in my palm.

She didn't get discouraged and adjusted her posture.

A monotonous friction sound echoed inside the cave, as withered branches rubbed against blocks of wood, making a soft rustling sound.

Pei Zeyu glanced at her from time to time, his bangs damp with sweat and clinging to his fair skin.

She rubbed it with great force, her shoulders and back tense, but apart from a thin layer of wood chips, there wasn't a single spark in the concave part of the wood.

Why is it so difficult?

Liu Wenying was exhausted and stopped to catch her breath.

Her palms were red, and although they had calluses, the soft parts were still chafed.

Seeing that she was about to continue, Pei Zeyu spoke up.

"Stop wasting your energy."

"I'll try again," Liu Wenying replied without looking up.

She refused to give up; she couldn't wait through the long night, and she couldn't wait any longer for her second master's illness.

His gaze swept across the cave wall and landed on a few vines he had picked up.

The vines, which were originally used to tie up the branches, were now scattered on the ground.

Liu Wenying's heart stirred, and she reached out and scooped it up.

She twisted several thin vines together into a rope, and once the rope was strong enough, she tied it to both ends of the wooden stick she had been working on, making a simple bow shape.

Next, place the drill bit against the concave part of the wooden block, hold it in place with one hand, and start pulling with the other hand.

"Squeak squeak squeak..."

The vines caused the wooden stick to spin rapidly, much faster than when it was rubbed by hand.

Pei Zeyu's gaze froze.

Liu Wenying pulled faster and faster, and wisps of white smoke began to rise from the friction between the drill and the block of wood.

She freed one hand and placed the prepared willow catkins into the smoking groove, then continued to pull the vine bow.

The hissing sound grew more rapid, and the white smoke thickened.

Suddenly, a touch of scarlet shone through the willow catkins.

Liu Wenying held her breath and blew gently.

The crimson spot suddenly expanded, transforming into a cluster of leaping flames.

Liu Wenying was extremely excited, but she forced herself to remain calm and moved the lit flame to the prepared pile of dry leaves.

"It's on fire! It's on fire! Second Master, I've started a fire!"

Liu Wenying was overjoyed.

Pei Zeyu stared blankly at the cluster of flames.

The firelight flickered, casting shimmering shadows in his dark pupils.

A smile bloomed on her face, and she smeared cigarette ash on the tip of her nose.

It's somewhat comical, but as vibrant as a peach blossom just beginning to bloom on a spring branch.

She really did it.

They turned the impossible into the possible.

With the fire, the chill in the cave was somewhat dispelled.

After drying Pei Zeyu's clothes, Liu Wenying handed them to him, then turned her back to him and walked to the cave entrance, staring blankly at the twilight outside.

She showed no interest in spying and gave him ample face.

Inside the cave, Pei Zeyu propped himself up; the simple movement had already left him feeling weak all over.

He dressed himself little by little, but his arms ached so much they felt like they didn't belong to him, and he didn't even have the strength to tie his clothes.

It took a long time to finally manage to put it on.

"Second Master, are you ready?" Outside the cave, Liu Wenying waited for a while before finally asking.

Pei Zeyu looked down to inspect it; it was a bit messy.

Having been pampered since childhood, when had he ever been in such a sorry state?

But my body was too weak and I couldn't do it, so I had no choice but to make do.

"I'm all better."

Having received a response, Liu Wenying walked back into the cave.

She was stunned the moment she stepped inside.

Pei Zeyu sat leaning against the fire, his clothes now dried.

But his clothes were really disheveled.

The collar of his shirt was askew, and the left side of the neckline was half-open, revealing a small patch of his collarbone.

The belt was loosely tied, and the knot was crooked and messy.

Hearing footsteps, he opened his eyes, his dark eyes revealing an unbearable sense of helplessness and embarrassment.

"Second Master...do you need my help to tidy up?"

Pei Zeyu hesitated.

When I changed clothes earlier, the wound on my left hand was painful, and my right hand was weak and powerless due to high fever. I could only manage to put on the clothes by my own limit.

He knew he was disheveled and in a sorry state.

Pei Zeyu looked away and squeezed out a single word, "Okay..."

With permission granted, Liu Wenying approached and began to tidy him up.

First, smooth out the collar, align the crooked hem, and your fingers will inevitably touch his neck and collarbone.

Pei Zeyu's body stiffened.

She didn't stop, she continued downwards.

The belt was loosely tied; she gently untied it and re-tied it for him.

When my fingers circled his waist, I could clearly feel his abdominal muscles tense up instantly.

Then came the sleeves, the hem, and every wrinkle was carefully smoothed out.

As she tidied up, she said playfully, "This time it was Second Master who agreed, so don't blame me for overstepping my bounds when we get out."

In the previous few times, it was he who initiated the contact.

He held her hand, he pinched her chin.

It was him who repeatedly broke his own rules to get closer to her.

The initiative is in his hands.

But now, she stands before him, straightening his clothes.

He felt no disgust whatsoever as his fingers traced his body.

even……

"Alright, Second Master, do you feel more relaxed?"

Pei Zeyu looked down at himself.

His clothes were neat and his belt was straight; he was no longer in such a disheveled state.

Pei Zeyu had just breathed a sigh of relief when he suddenly felt a cool sensation on his forehead.

A cool hand approached and gently covered his burning forehead.

The sensation came unexpectedly, like snow falling suddenly in winter, the chill penetrating to the bone, yet strangely comforting.

Pei Zeyu's breathing stopped abruptly, and his heart skipped a beat for a split second.

Liu Wenying frowned, feeling the warmth of his forehead with the back of her hand.

"Why is it still so hot..."

She muttered to herself, her voice filled with worry.

Liu Wenying withdrew her hand and looked at Pei Zeyu.

"Second Master, how are you feeling?"

In the firelight, his dark pupils appeared somewhat unfocused as he stared blankly into the void, seemingly oblivious to her words.
