Rationally speaking, Zhu Qingyu was very clear that the day of Lidong four years ago was just an ordinary day among the ordinary people.

Four years ago, on the day of Lidong (the beginning of winter), everyone was going about their normal lives: some people became monks, some got married, some went on house calls, and some had funerals.

Countless people in the world spent this ordinary day on the day of the Beginning of Winter four years ago.

Therefore, Gu Zhao's decision to become a nun four years ago and her transmigration to this world four years ago are not actually related in any essential way; it's just a coincidence.

However, emotionally, Zhu Qingyu suddenly became very interested in the reason why Gu Zhao became a monk back then, almost as if she had grasped at a straw.

Even though she had once entered a Buddhist monastery, the Gu Zhao she knew was not a monk at all.

He said he became a monk by imperial decree, which means he did not enter the monastic life voluntarily, just as she did not come into this world voluntarily.

But he was luckier than her; he thought he would never be able to leave, but in the end he did.

Previously, Zhang Shen said that Gu Zhao left Huangjue Temple because the emperor personally brought him back after ascending the throne.

Gu Zhao could use imperial power to leave a world she didn't voluntarily stay in, but for her, even if the emperor issued an edict, there was no way to send her back to her original world.

Zhu Qingyu suddenly felt extremely envious of Gu Zhao. At this moment, this envy even overwhelmed all of Zhu Qingyu's previous feelings for him, whether good or bad.

In her eyes, he had transformed into a glittering golden koi fish. She wondered if hugging him and taking a breath of his good fortune would allow her to absorb some of it.

Ughhhhh, why is he the only one who gets to leave? She wants to be as lucky as him too. She's been wanting to leave this awful place for ages!

Cut ties with these feudal dregs!

Because of this sudden stimulus from the day of Lidong four years ago, Zhu Qingyu's mind was filled with all sorts of thoughts, and she felt like she was going crazy.

The wind and snow intensified. Gu Zhao put her hood back on and protected her as they crossed the courtyard and entered the main house.

Although he didn't know why, Gu Zhao felt that the way she looked at him had suddenly become very strange.

But the look in her eyes, filled with inquiry, interest, and even longing, softened Gu Zhao's heart. He gently removed her snow-covered cloak and asked:

"What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Because you're a lucky one! I really envy your good fortune. After all, not everyone gets to experience something as fortunate as the emperor's death and the ascension of a new emperor.

Zhu Qingyu asked:

"Shouming, why did the late emperor make you become a monk? Can we talk about that?"

There's nothing wrong with saying this; the late emperor issued an edict of self-reproach, which was proclaimed to the world.

After Gu Zhao removed her cloak, he took her to wash her face and replied:

"Because of the plague four years ago, I was ordered by the late emperor to enter a Buddhist monastery to worship the Medicine Buddha and pray that the Bodhisattva would descend to earth to save all living beings."

Zhu Qingyu didn't usually believe in gods and Buddhas, but at this moment, she desperately hoped it was true, and immediately asked:

"Will it work?"

Gu Zhao knew she had no reverence for the Bodhisattva statue, and was also puzzled as to why she was being so inquisitive today. He replied:

"Since I entered the Buddhist order, the epidemic has indeed dissipated."

It's so effective!

Zhu Qingyu suddenly grabbed Gu Zhao's hand:

"Shouming, can I go take a look? Can I go pray to the Buddha? Just for a little while!"

Although Gu Zhao has left the Buddhist order, the Medicine Buddha enshrined in the main hall of Yongfu Manor still receives constant incense offerings, with people making daily sacrifices to him.

Filled with excitement, Zhu Qingyu followed Gu Zhao to the main hall, and with unprecedented devotion, offered incense to the Bodhisattva, silently making a wish:

"Bodhisattva, please help me. Can you send me back? I will worship you day and night from now on."

Zhu Qingyu prayed for a long time, until an incense stick burned out, but the Bodhisattva still did not respond.

Gu Zhao stayed by her side the whole time, watching her go from excitement, anticipation, and anxiety to disappointment. He really wanted to ask her:

"What are you asking the Bodhisattva for?"

He was also worried about hearing an answer from her that he didn't want to hear.

I knew perfectly well it was impossible, but just as that glimmer of hope had been kindled, it was shattered again.

Reality is just that ruthless and heartless.

Reality has always been so cruel and heartless.

Zhu Qingyu felt as if something was stuck in her chest, making her feel suffocated. She wanted to shout, scream, and fight someone to completely vent her frustration.

But in the end, she simply stood up and calmly asked:

"Why does the Bodhisattva only pay attention to you and not me?"

Gu Zhao noticed that something was wrong with her and helped her up.

"The Bodhisattva resides in the heart."

Zhu Qingyu didn't understand, nor did she want to understand. The pent-up frustration made her feel uncomfortable all over. Later, when she had dinner with Gu Zhao and took a bath, she felt so uncomfortable that her teeth itched.

This pent-up frustration overwhelmed her, so much so that she lay in bed for a long time before realizing that Gu Zhao was completely still.

Zhu Qingyu is feeling very unwell right now, and she's speaking less politely:

"You don't want it?"

Gu Zhao lay to the side:

"You don't look well, let's do it another day."

Another day, another day? Who's going to agree to another day with you!

I'm going to break up with you, you bastard, tomorrow!

Zhu Qingyu sat up abruptly, straddled him, and began to undress Gu Zhao. She pulled open his undergarment and bit his bare shoulder hard, almost drawing blood.

Gu Zhao paused, but said nothing, letting her bite him, and reached out to hug her.

After biting the scoundrel hard, Zhu Qingyu felt much better, but still not satisfied, she bit his neck again.

This time the bite might have been too hard, Gu Zhao grunted.

That muffled groan actually sounded quite pleasant, and Zhu Qingyu felt much better.

But it's still not enough, not enough, not enough!

She wanted to vent, to shout, to curse the world.

Beneath her was a tall, handsome, muscular, and powerful younger brother.

Someone you could easily have a flirtatious relationship with if you met them in modern times.

A person with whom I have no further connection after tonight.

Zhu Qingyu reached out and stroked Gu Zhao's face, leaning down to whisper seductively in his ear:

"Little brother, do you want me to... or do you want me to go find someone else?"

Because Zhu Qingyu was sitting on him, Gu Zhao had already reached his limit and, understanding that she was not in a good condition, did not force her.

But as soon as Zhu Qingyu said this, Gu Zhao could no longer hold back and flipped her over, pinning her beneath him.

Who tore whose clothes? Skin to skin, lips and teeth intertwined, intimately connected.

Whose curses were broken and disordered?

"Gu Shouming, you bastard!"

And who is it that has lost their armor and surrendered?

And who was it that was panting heavily, refusing to give an inch?

......

In this heartless and cruel world, on this night of raging wind and snow.

Heartbroken men and women, devastated by the world, embark on a night of indulgence and a night of gain.

Her indulgence.

His gain.
