Chapter 49 Clan Village: The Law of the Strong

Chapter 49 Clan Village: The Law of the Strong

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Under the dark sky, the howling wind lashed at the mountain walls and snow-covered ground, whipping up a murky curtain of snow.

On the rugged mountain road in the distance, a group of Noxian scouts draped in greyish-white cloaks were trudging through the thick snow with their heads down.

Each step leaves a deep footprint in the snow.

"Damn it!" Huo Jixing spat out the ice shards in his mouth and couldn't help but curse under his breath.

The snowflakes, which had been gradually decreasing in size, suddenly turned into a raging blizzard after accumulating for several days, sweeping across the silvery-white mountains.

Looking around, the view was almost invisible, and the surrounding scenery was unchanging and silvery white.

He couldn't resist pulling out his water pouch from his waist and tilting his head back to drink the half-frozen snow water inside.

Huo Jixing and his group had been traveling along the predetermined route for a long time. Their bodies, which had consumed a lot of energy, began to lose water, and even the lining of their armor felt cold.

In the absence of water, the accumulated snow, which can be seen everywhere, becomes one of their necessities.

"How long have Sharuba and the others been gone?"

Huo Jixing wiped the moisture from the corner of his mouth and turned to look at Bueno behind him.

Since slaughtering the reckless Blood Warriors, they have seen almost no other living beings.

Even the clan warriors who had been relentlessly pursuing them recently have quieted down considerably.

It seemed that they were the only ones left in the Ironthorn Mountains.

"They should be back around that time!" Bueno raised his cold, stern face, looked up at the dim sky, and answered in a deep voice.

Even in such a harsh environment, Bueno maintained the excellent qualities of a Noxian soldier.

He stood upright, with two sharp long swords at his waist, half a centimeter from their sheaths.

"Okay!" Huo Jixing shrugged, ending the somewhat boring conversation.

The snowstorm had lasted for so long that even the elite Noxian scouts were finding it hard to keep up and had to remain silent to conserve their energy.

A crimson glow covered the pupils.

Huo Jixing gazed at the gloomy sky, expecting it to be the same as before, with no clouds rising. But this time, black clouds entered his pupils.

"Hmm? Black clouds representing death!?"

Huo Jixing looked on in surprise and doubt as he examined the black clouds within his crimson field of vision.

He then quickly realized that these black clouds did not belong to Sharuba and his group.

Looking into the distance, one can see thin, wispy black clouds, intertwined and gathering without dispersing.

"The clouds are dark and gathered together; is it a search party, or..."

As the crimson light faded, Huo Jixing lowered his eyes, his mind racing.

Immediately afterwards, he made up his mind to change direction.

The Noxian scouts following behind looked puzzled when they saw Hoji Star suddenly change direction, but they remained silent and followed.

As for Sharuba and the others, they will follow the specially left marks to catch up with the group.

Snow-covered mountains.

The villages nestled in the valley slumber in the tranquil environment created by the heavy snow, with only the biting wind occasionally blowing snow off the rooftops.

"A subordinate clan of the Claws of Winter".

Huo Jixing lay prone at the top of the valley, his eyes peering through the snow to see the blue flag fluttering in the wind above the village, engraved with rune patterns.

At the same time, rows of low wooden houses built of dark gray trees came into view, interlocking and arranged in a pleasingly haphazard way.

"Team Leader!" Sharuba's voice came from behind.

Huo Jixing turned his head and saw his teammates looking at him with fanatical, bloodshot eyes, including DeWitt.

"Couldn't you hold back anymore?"

Huo Jixing licked his lips, his heart sinking as he instantly understood his teammate's meaning.

The infiltration and killing along the way had made everyone try to suppress their emotions, but now they had a chance to vent.

"Remember, finish this quickly!"

Huo Jixing's eyes flickered as he looked at the village in the valley and nodded firmly.

"Don't worry, sergeant!" Rand said, a chilling smile appearing on his cold face.

"They're just a bunch of villagers; we'll bring you victory!"

In the pale snow.

Led by Sharuba, a Noxian veteran, the others took advantage of the snowstorm to stealthily make their way to the nearby village.

Then, a silent massacre began!

Amidst the howling wind, Noxian scouts broke into the wooden hut and began their swift slaughter.

Huo Jixing stood up, holding the long sword at his waist, his eyes gleaming with crimson light as he surveyed the bloody carnage unfolding in the village.

A wooden house.

Two wooden houses

Three wooden houses

Just as he looked toward the fourth wooden house, an angry and shrill howl broke the silence of the village.

In an instant.

A commotion broke out in the remaining silent wooden houses as one by one, thin villagers, almost skeletal and as thin as mangosteen, ran out.

Most of them were elderly people and children, with very few adult clan warriors.

Faced with the sudden attack, they wrapped themselves in thick furs, made strange noises, and charged towards the enemy attacking the village as if they were fearless.

Even the fallen corpses of their own kind could not stop the advance of these Freljords.

They uphold the ancient spirit of Freljord, using savagery and slaughter to try and drive away the approaching Grim Reaper.

Unfortunately, they were facing Noxus's elite scouts.

Looking at the frail, sick, and disabled people before him, with their fanatical expressions, Xiaruba and his companions showed no pity. They brandished their blades and slaughtered indiscriminately.

This is war!

From the very beginning, the two sides were locked in a life-or-death struggle.

The previous resistance of the clan warriors showed that they were fully aware of their situation and that only victory could save them.

The cruel and merciless reality is revealed under the gradually reddening night.

Like a blizzard in the dead of winter, it crushed the will of the clan warriors.

From the sky, the crimson, scalding blood, mixed with the blazing flames, set fire to the wooden houses.

Behind the Noxian scout, the roars filled with pain and hatred ceased, until the last scream faded away with the wind.

"Survival of the fittest!" Huo Jixing gripped the hilt of his knife and shook his head slightly.

He has a moral bottom line, but he hasn't forgotten that he is no longer in the peaceful society of his previous life, but is deeply involved in the bloody war of the present.

Everything is based on completing the mission and surviving.

In the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the massacre ended.

Sharuba, covered in blood, led everyone back, chatting and laughing. The earlier somber atmosphere had completely dissipated with the massacre.

Let's go!

Huo Jixing took one last look at the ruined village before stepping away through the snow.

In the hills not far from the village.

Huo Jixing and his group were lucky enough to find a cave where food was stored, and they went in without any hesitation.

Only when they scavenged the cave did they discover that food was scarce.

A few small, shriveled pieces of cured meat and some coarse, hard rations were not enough to satisfy everyone's hunger.

These were foods that the clans and tribes had stored up in preparation for the harsh winter.

The team is resting.

Moore, this second-hand cook, naturally began to showcase his culinary skills.

In the boiling, murky snow water, bits of cured meat floated to the surface, beneath which lay rations resembling mashed potatoes.

Although it looks rather unappetizing, it's considered a decent meal in the current climate.

No one minded, and they ate the piping hot food with gusto, and a pleasant atmosphere gradually filled the cave.

After finishing dinner, Huo Jixing got up and walked to the cave entrance. Looking at the howling cold wind, as if he had thought of something, he turned his head and gestured for Eric and Korda to come out with him and take a walk around the cave.

While patrolling, check if there are any 'prey' that have been missed.
