Chapter 22 Skill Division: Blade of Conquest

Early morning, rest area.

Huo Jixing stood on the bluestone street, looked up at the familiar three-story building in front of him, and stepped forward.

dong dong!dong dong!

A dull knock broke the morning's tranquility.

After a short wait, the door opened.

DeWitt opened the door and looked at the person in front of him with a somewhat surprised expression.

"What, don't you recognize me?"

Huo Jixing chuckled softly, patted DeWitt on the shoulder, and greeted him.

"No, no!"

DeWitt smiled and shook his head, stepping aside to let Huo Jixing in: "It was just a bit of a surprise."

"No matter what happens, as long as the transfer order comes down, we'll still be teammates." Huo Jixing recalled how the transfer order changed their destinies, and chatted with DeWitt as they walked.

Although he is now a deputy, he shows no regard for class distinction and still considers DeWitt a friend.

Huo Jixing himself may not care, but that doesn't mean others don't.

DeWitt looked at Hoji Star in front of him, his eyes still showing friendliness, but now with a hint of awe and respect.

Walking along the narrow corridor, Huo Jixing reached the hall and looked at the somewhat empty environment with a wistful expression, recalling the scene when he first came here, with many people around.

"Are Moore and Corporal Eric there?"

DeWitt lagged half a step behind and replied, "Moore has gone out, and Lord Eric is on the third floor."

Before he could finish speaking, the young Noxian scout, sensing Hojixing's thoughts, asked, "Are you looking for Lord Eric? He said earlier that if you come here, you can go straight upstairs."

"Thanks!" Huo Jixing didn't hide anything, thanked him, and then turned and went upstairs.

The dark gray wooden steps stretched upwards, making a slight sound with each step.

After passing the second floor, at the end of the stairs is an open wooden door, where you can see Eric's tall figure sitting upright.

"Looks like you're recovering well!"

Upon seeing Huo Jixing's face, Eric spoke first, his expression revealing surprise.

The appearance of Huo Jixing after he squandered the Southern Fire was too miserable, a world of difference compared to his appearance before us.

"Thanks to the camp, the doctors' skills and the medicines they provide are exceptionally effective." At Eric's prompting, Huo Jixing sat down opposite him.

"Just say what's on your mind." Eric looked at Huo Jixing in front of him, hiding the envy in his eyes, and spoke with a smile.

He is a straightforward person and doesn't like beating around the bush.

"Let me get straight to the point. I was recommended by the Legion advisor Wilson." Huo Jixing looked at Eric's wild face and recounted his conversation with Wilson quite frankly.

Huo Jixing was still unfamiliar with this world, having only known two or three people before.

Eric, with whom he had carried out missions and faced life and death together, was placed in his heart within the realm of trust.

"It really was Wilson. No wonder he made a point of greeting me the other day." Eric chuckled softly, his expression seemingly casual, but he remembered Wilson's kindness.

"Extraordinary skill!" Eric repeated, his expression gradually becoming serious.

Although for them, common sense about the extraordinary and the skilled was not a secret.

Given Huo Jixing's current status as an extraordinary being, it won't be long before he comes into contact with this knowledge, perhaps even more in detail than they do.

Legion advisor Wilson's suggestion was actually intended to get Eric to do a favor from Hoji Star, since it was during a time of war and no one could guarantee the future.

The Empire's attitude towards superhumans might lead to Eric himself, or those involved, receiving some covert favors.

"After the Rune Wars, countless scholars investigated and came to refer to runes and magic as supernatural powers," Eric said softly after a moment's thought.

"Righteously, those who master runes and magic are called extraordinary beings."

A thousand years ago, the world runes were rediscovered, and the Helia Arcane Vault on Blessed Isle fell.

Dangerous runic powers and magical artifacts have begun to fall into the hands of those with ill intentions.

Years later, the massive Rune Wars began and escalated, dragging most of the world's known regions and factions into destruction.

After more than a decade of apocalyptic warfare, people began to fear the terrifying power of runes and magic.

Even the Noxian Empire, which reveres strength and believes in might, holds runes and magic in awe.

Runes and magic are special.

Not everyone can access or master it; only the chosen ones can become extraordinary.

In order to counter runes and magic, newly emerging powers such as the Noxian Empire and the Demacian Empire began to pursue other paths.

Thus, skills were born.

And it has become one of the paths to fight against runes and magic!

This doesn't mean that skills can counter runes and magic, but rather that they offer ordinary people a glimmer of hope. At least for those who are developing into extraordinary individuals, powerful skills can pose a deadly danger.

"Over the course of hundreds of years, from the very beginning to the present, the path of skill has matured, dividing into different levels of strength." Eric looked dazed, as if he had fallen into the long river of history.

However, his admiration for the craft was undisguised in his words.

"Of course, this is only a classification of skills, and has nothing to do with runes and magic!" Eric said solemnly, the deeper his understanding of runes and magic, the more awe he felt.

Assassin Classification:

Apprentice Assassin, Junior Assassin, Intermediate Assassin, Senior Assassin, Shadow of Slaughter, Master of Slaughter.

Warrior Classification:

Trainee Warrior, Junior Warrior, Intermediate Warrior, Senior Warrior, Blade of Conquest, Grandmaster of Conquest.

Marksman Classification:

Apprentice Shooter, Novice Shooter, Intermediate Shooter, Advanced Shooter, Eagle Eye, Shooting Master.

Shield Guard Classification:

Trainee Shield Guardian, Junior Shield Guardian, Intermediate Shield Guardian, Advanced Shield Guardian, Fearless Shield, Shield Guardian Master.

As a listener, Huo Jixing quickly found his skill level – Intermediate Warrior, with Advanced Warrior, Blade of Conquest, and Grandmaster of Conquest as the next levels.

"Is there any hope for ordinary people against superhumans?"

Eric's explanation was simple and clear, and he did not mean to look down on runes and magic in any way.

On the contrary, they showed great respect.

They even subtly downplayed the importance of skills.

After listening, Huo Jixing's thoughts were racing. His gaze fell on Eric's tall, tiger-like body, and he began to ponder.

Because he had witnessed Eric's true strength!

Perhaps sensing Huo Jixing's curiosity, Eric smiled wryly and said, "My current skill level is at the Conqueror's Blade stage, but..."

He paused, recalling the battle in Freljord not long ago, his expression darkening, and he shook his head slightly: "However, it can only withstand ordinary superhumans."

"Only able to defend against?" Huo Jixing frowned slightly, grasping the key point.

In his subsequent remarks, Eric revealed that he had some subtle knowledge about superhumans.

For example, the extraordinary powers within the Freljord region—the Spirit Walkers—can communicate with animals through the spiritual realm and gain some of the abilities granted by those animals.

The beast spirit apprentices we encountered before could control Frostfang Giant Wolves and even cast extraordinary spells like [Wild Arcane Arts].

Finally, Eric looked at Hoji Star and spoke softly.

"Wilson is right. For superhumans, improving their skills can also help them make better use of their power, or runes and magic."

The existence of skills is precisely for the purpose of pursuing and exploring the limits of the body's power.

Whether ordinary or extraordinary, everyone can improve their skills through training.

Because of their unique characteristics, superhumans learn much faster than most ordinary people, giving them a more obvious advantage.

Eric stood up, his gaze lowered, landing on the spacious backyard that had been partitioned off. He seemed to find some interest and spoke softly, "Talking the talk is no substitute for action. Why don't you go and practice?"

"Okay!" Huo Jixing's eyes lit up, and he immediately agreed.

Leaving aside the Grandmaster realm, the Blade of Conquest is already the penultimate level of skill, far surpassing that of an intermediate warrior.

Having such a strong sparring partner would naturally benefit Huo Jixing greatly.
