Upon hearing this, Jiang Che calmly retorted, "Are you sure? You have to get up at six in the morning, can you even manage that?"

Su Qinghe glared at him. "Are you questioning my willpower?"

"No, no," Jiang Che immediately raised his hands in surrender, "I'm questioning myself, I'm afraid I won't be able to get up."

Su Qinghe gave a soft hum and stuffed the water bottle into her bag.

"Then I'll go running by myself, you don't need to come with me."

Jiang Che knew she was serious after hearing that.

Normally, Su Qinghe would stick to him 24/7, even waiting for him to go to the bathroom. But now she actually said she didn't need him to accompany her.

This shows that she really cares about the physical fitness test.

I care so much that I can even temporarily let go of my dependence on him.

Jiang Che reached out and ruffled her hair: "Just kidding, how could I bear to let you go running alone?"

"I'll wake you up tomorrow morning and stay with you."

Su Qinghe glanced at him, her lips pressed together but she couldn't quite suppress them, and they still curled up slightly.

"Hmph, that's more like it."

After sitting and enjoying the breeze for a while, Jiang Che put the water bottle and other items back into his backpack, zipped it up, stood up, and slung it over his shoulder.

"Let's go home."

Su Qinghe stood up a little too quickly, and the lingering soreness in her legs made her hiss softly.

Jiang Che turned his head to look at her: "Want me to carry you?"

Su Qinghe shook her head and took his arm.

"No need to carry me, I can walk by myself. I've already recovered after walking two laps."

"Really not going to?"

"Really, no need. I'm not a porcelain doll, I'm not that delicate."

Seeing this, Jiang Che stopped insisting.

It was already dark when the two walked out of the East Track and Field Stadium.

The streetlights on both sides of Ginkgo Avenue turned on on time, casting orange light on the fallen leaves.

Su Qinghe linked arms with Jiang Che, stepping on the fallen leaves, making a soft rustling sound.

She looked down at the long shadows cast by the two people on the ground.

In the shadows, her face was pressed against his shoulder, and the silhouettes of the two people stuck together looked intimately close.

Su Qinghe rubbed her face against his arm again.

"A-Che".

"Um?"

"I've made up my mind."

"What decision have you made?"

"If I can't run the physical test in under three minutes and twenty seconds, I'll only do it with you once a night from now on." Su Qinghe looked up at him, her expression as serious as a soldier making a pledge.

Jiang Che glanced at her sideways.

The light from the streetlamp fell into her eyes, making her already beautiful eyes sparkle.

Her brows were slightly furrowed, her lips were tightly pursed, and her cheeks puffed out a little.

Jiang Che silently sighed to himself, "So be it, this inexplicable, persistent competitive spirit can't be changed."

Because they are just so damn cute.

"What's with that expression?" Su Qinghe noticed that Jiang Che's gaze was a little strange.

"No expression at all." Jiang Che looked away, his face unchanged.

"You clearly do," Su Qinghe pinched the soft flesh on the inside of his arm, "Are you thinking again how your girlfriend is so cute even when she sets up flags for herself?"

Jiang Che neither admitted nor denied it.

But his silence said it all.

Su Qinghe snorted, released her grip on his hand, buried her face in his arm, and said in a muffled voice, "If I really can't run under three minutes and twenty seconds in the physical fitness test, the classmates will probably all spread your name—look, it's this Jiang Che who fed the campus belle of Peking University so much that she can't even run 800 meters anymore."

Jiang Che was amused by her statement: "Isn't it possible that they'll say how good Jiang Che is to his girlfriend, keeping her so plump and healthy? I'm so envious!"

"I don't want to get fat! You'll dislike me if I get fat!" Su Qinghe immediately raised her face and glared at him, her eyes fierce.

But that glaring look wasn't really that intimidating.

In Jiang Che's eyes, it was just a bristling Hakimi bluffing at him.

Jiang Che reached out and gently pinched her puffed-up cheek.

"What nonsense are you spouting? How could I possibly dislike you?"

His eyes were very serious. "Su Qinghe, you are the only love of my life. No matter what you become, I will never stop loving you."

Su Qinghe stared blankly into his eyes, her heart pounding uncontrollably.

After a long while, she buried her face in Jiang Che's arm again and mumbled indistinctly, "That's more like it."

……

Back home, Su Qinghe, unusually, didn't cling to Jiang Che. After taking a shower, she urged him to go to bed early.

Jiang Che was forced to lie flat on the bed by her, and before he could even swipe his phone twice, he was forced to turn off the lights and lie down.

In the darkness, Su Qinghe buried her face in his chest and snuggled against him, finding a comfortable angle to close her eyes.

Jiang Che looked down at his girlfriend in his arms. In the moonlight streaming in from the window, he could see her eyelashes trembling slightly.

He lowered his head and placed a kiss on the girl's forehead.

"Good night."

……

The alarm clock rang precisely at 6:30 a.m. the next morning.

Jiang Che groggily reached for his phone and turned off the alarm. Just as he was about to turn over and go back to sleep, Su Qinghe in his arms had already opened her eyes.

She rubbed her eyes, her long hair disheveled on the pillow, and she still looked incredibly sleepy.

"Want to sleep for another fifteen minutes?" Jiang Che asked tentatively.

Su Qinghe yawned slightly and shook her head vigorously.

"No... I promised I'd get up early today."

After she finished speaking, she sat up from the covers, the blanket slipping off her shoulders to reveal her fair collarbone and the straps of her slip dress.

The morning light peeked through the gaps in the curtains, casting a soft glow on her skin.

Su Qinghe stared blankly for more than ten seconds, then threw off the covers, got out of bed, and walked barefoot into the bathroom.

Jiang Che heard the sound of running water from the tap inside and guessed that Su Qinghe was probably washing her face with cold water to refresh herself.

Then I got out of bed and took out two sets of sportswear from the closet.

He wore one set himself and kept the other set by the bedside for Su Qinghe.

A few minutes later, Su Qinghe came out of the bathroom. The sleepiness on her face had faded a lot, but there were still faint red marks at the corners of her eyes from just waking up.

"I've put your clothes away for you." Jiang Che pointed to the sportswear next to the bed.

Su Qinghe walked over, picked up the clothes and looked at them. She found that Jiang Che had picked out a light gray tracksuit for her, and thoughtfully stuffed a sports bra inside.

She glanced at Jiang Che.

Jiang Che was getting dressed with his back to her, the lines of his back muscles particularly clear in the morning light.

Su Qinghe couldn't help but swallow hard, and couldn't resist stealing a few more glances.

Then she quickly looked away and started changing her clothes as if nothing had happened.

After getting ready, the two went out.
