Wang Kai took out his phone and opened the chat window with Liu Mengyao.

The latest message in the chat box is a conversation the two of them had last night when they were discussing the topic.

The screen was basically filled with formulas and problem-solving steps, with no other topics, making it seem as serious as it could possibly be.

Wang Kai's fingers hovered above the keyboard for about five or six seconds, typing and deleting, deleting and typing again, before finally sending a seemingly normal and casual message.

"Mengyao, do you want to take a group photo later?"

After sending the message, he placed his phone screen face down on his lap, pretending he hadn't done anything, and continued to lean against the edge of the flower bed, looking at the distant scenery.

But in reality, his heart rate had already taken off the moment he sent the message.

one second.

two seconds.

three seconds.

Four seconds...

After Wang Kai had silently counted the seconds in his mind, the phone he was tightly gripping finally vibrated.

He immediately flipped his phone over and saw a new message lying quietly on the screen—

Liu Mengyao: "Okay ☀"

Just one word, followed by a little sun emoji.

But it was just this simple word and expression that made Wang Kai stare at the screen and grin like an idiot for a long time.

What does that little sun-like expression mean?

Was it ordered randomly? Or was it chosen on purpose?

Wang Kai's mind raced at that moment, and his intelligence was in no way inferior to that of Einstein in his prime.

OK.

She said "okay," not "good" or "okay."

The interjection "ya"...represents a pleasant and accepting attitude, right?

Compared to a cold "okay" or a perfunctory "okay," "okay" is clearly softer and more... carries a bit of warmth.

And that little sun.

The little sun represents sunshine, warmth, and...

What else could it represent?

Wang Kai felt like he was about to analyze an emoji into an 800-word reading comprehension exercise.

Forget it, I don't want to think about it anymore. As long as they agreed, that's fine.

He took a deep breath, trying to suppress the upward curve of his lips so that Jiang Che next to him wouldn't notice anything amiss.

Unfortunately, he failed.

That silly grin, impossible to hide, was so brightly displayed on his face that he couldn't suppress it no matter what.

However, Wang Kai's worries were obviously unnecessary, as Jiang Che did not notice his unusual behavior at all.

Because Jiang Che's attention never left Su Qinghe from beginning to end.

Not far away, Su Qinghe was standing with several girls taking a group photo by the flower bed.

She was surrounded in the middle, and a bouquet of baby's breath had been placed in her hand at some point. She held the bouquet and tilted her head slightly.

Sunlight poured down from above, enveloping her in a warm orange glow.

The girls around her were laughing happily; some had their arms around her shoulders, and others were making peace signs for the camera.

Su Qinghe remained as aloof and unattainable as ever, while the girls kept changing locations, snapping photos everywhere with their phones.

Jiang Che stared blankly into space as he watched, while Su Qinghe suddenly seemed to notice something and turned her head slightly away from the group of girls.

His gaze pierced through the noisy crowd and met Jiang Che's eyes directly.

The moment their eyes met, all the surrounding noise seemed to be muted.

The girl just watched him quietly.

Even though they were several meters apart, with a huge crowd in between, Jiang Che felt as if those clear eyes were right in front of him, so close that he could see the tiny glimmers of light within them.

Then, the girl's lips curved slightly.

The movement was very small, so small that if Jiang Che hadn't been watching her intently, she would most likely have missed it.

But he didn't miss it.

A moment later, Su Qinghe was the first to look away, then lowered her head, seemingly doing something.

Jiang Che frowned slightly, wanting to take a few steps forward to get a better look, when his phone in his pocket suddenly vibrated.

He took it out and saw that it was a message from Su Qinghe.

Su Qinghe: "Ache, do you want to take a picture together?"

A small camera emoji followed it.

Jiang Che looked at the message and the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up.

He raised his head, looked past the crowd, and met Su Qinghe's gaze once again.

The girl remained standing there, her fingers gripping her phone tightly, her eyes fixed on him.

She was waiting for his reply.

His eyes clearly showed a strong sense of anticipation, along with a hint of nervousness.

It was as if she was afraid he would refuse.

How could I possibly refuse?

Jiang Che chuckled, shook his head, and quickly replied with a single word.

"shoot."

After sending the message, he put away his phone and walked towards Su Qinghe.

Several girls who had been taking photos with Su Qinghe were stunned when they saw Jiang Che walking towards them. They then exchanged glances and gave each other knowing smiles.

"Hey, Su Qinghe, someone's here to see you—"

"Alright, alright, we'll leave now, we won't bother you anymore."

"Remember to show us the photos after you take them!"

The girls dispersed, laughing and joking, and before leaving, they turned back to wink at Su Qinghe.

In no time, the area was completely cleared up, leaving this small patch of land intact for Jiang Che and Su Qinghe.

Su Qinghe's ears turned red from their teasing, but she didn't refute anything. She just pursed her lips and lowered her head, pretending to be tidying up the baby's breath in her hands.

Jiang Che stopped in front of her.

The two of them stood facing each other.

Were you looking at me the whole time?

"Um."

"...How long did you watch it?"

"I don't know... it started when you were pulled over to take pictures, didn't it?"

Su Qinghe's eyelashes trembled, and her fingers unconsciously tightened around the bouquet.

She looked up, her clear eyes reflecting the sunlight and the boy's shadow.

"So... do you think I'm pretty?"

Why are you asking again?

Jiang Che looked at her with amusement. Why was this girl so concerned about this today? Hadn't he already praised her once?

But looking into the girl's expectant yet somewhat apprehensive eyes, he still didn't hesitate to give her what she wanted.

"nice."

"It's very beautiful."

Upon hearing this, Su Qinghe lowered her head slightly, burying half of her face in the bouquet of baby's breath, trying to use the flowers to hide her unconcealable smile.

But the red tips of her ears betrayed her.

Just then, the photographer in charge of taking the group photo finished his work and walked by with his camera on his back. He saw the two standing together and stopped to ask them a question.

"Hey guys, do you want to take a group photo? I happen to be free up here."

Upon hearing this, Su Qinghe first nodded slightly, then suddenly looked up as if she had thought of something.

"Ah... wait for me!"

After saying those words to Jiang Che, she turned around and ran to the side without saying another word, holding the bouquet of flowers.
