HP: Wormwood and Lightning Wood
Chapter 22 Norwegian Spinosaurus
In the days that followed, Harry, Draco, and Ron couldn't help but keep a close eye on Quirrell, fearing that he might steal the Philosopher's Stone if they weren't careful.
Whenever Professor Quirrell, wrapped in a garlic-scented headscarf, walked through the corridor, their gazes would meet in the air, forming an invisible vigilance net.
Hermione, meanwhile, was busy making a study plan, even though Ron often complained, "There are still ten weeks until the exam!"
"To be precise, it's sixty-nine days." Hermione drew a new red circle on the calendar without looking up.
Unfortunately, the teachers thought the same as Hermione. They assigned a huge amount of homework.
To do their homework, the three of them spent most of their time in the library, except for keeping an eye on Quirrell.
Hermione's quill scratched across the parchment, while Pansy Parkinson rested her chin on her hand, watching her derive formulas for arithmetic and divination. The remaining five boys flipped through their books idly, occasionally muttering something to themselves.
This brings us to the fact that three Slytherins—Pansy, Blaise, and Theodore—had joined their study group.
Because Draco often played with the Gryffindor trio, Pansy and the others initially distanced themselves from Draco, but ultimately compromised because they couldn't bear to leave their childhood friends.
Moreover, with West around, the younger Slytherins and Gryffindors dare not provoke each other, and on the surface, everything appears peaceful.
Pansy was quickly impressed by Hermione's intelligence and they became good friends, completely forgetting that she had said she wouldn't play with Muggles.
West wasn't worried about the exam; it wasn't a big problem for him.
He finished his homework quickly, and then he would take some time to work on the extra potions homework that Snape had assigned him—the difficulty of which was on par with that of a sixth-year student.
One afternoon, West was stopped on his way back to his dormitory.
"...What are you doing?" West asked, looking at the group of four who were crouching in the corner.
"West! Hagrid might have a dragon!" Harry said.
"Hagrid, but that's illegal." West frowned.
"Yes, so we want to go see," Hermione said.
Vester looked at the four curious children. "I don't recommend you get involved. The fire dragon is dangerous."
"But! A fire-breathing dragon!" Draco exclaimed softly, his grey-blue eyes gleaming. "I've never seen a live fire-breathing dragon before!"
"Alright, West, we need to check on Hagrid," Ron shrugged. "If there really is a dragon, we should persuade him to send it away, or he'll be arrested by the Ministry of Magic."
An hour later, West was dragged by four children and knocked on the door of the game's guardhouse.
Hagrid drew all the curtains in the cabin and turned on the fireplace, the roaring fire making the air inside the cabin very hot.
"So—you have something to ask me?" Hagrid said, glancing at the fireplace.
West followed his gaze and saw a dragon egg lying in the very center of the fire.
Not only did he notice Hagrid's gaze, but Harry also asked, "Hagrid, what's that?" He pointed to the egg.
"Oh," Hai Ge nervously rubbed his hands, "um... that's—"
"This is a dragon egg, Hagrid," Ron said, already crouching by the fireplace, examining the egg closely. "Where did you get it?"
Draco also squatted down, curiously examining the charred dragon egg.
"I won it," Hagrid said. "Last night, I was drinking in the village, playing cards with a stranger. To be honest, that guy probably wants nothing more than to get rid of him."
West frowned.
Could there really be such a coincidence? Hagrid's greatest wish was to have a dragon, and a stranger just happened to give him a dragon egg?
Knowing it violates wizarding laws, what madman would carry a dragon egg around outside?
There were many suspicious points. However, West didn't intend to ask any more questions; what did it have to do with him?
"But raising a dragon is illegal, Hagrid," Hermione said seriously. "What are you going to do when it hatches?"
Hagrid happily picked up the Rathalos Care Guide he had borrowed from the library and showed it to everyone.
Alright, besides the Philosopher's Stone, they now also have to worry about Hagrid's illegal breeding of dragons.
Then, one day at breakfast, Hedwig brought Harry a note from Hagrid that read, "She's about to hatch."
Harry ran over to Slytherin and told West and Draco. Draco and Ron were so excited that they didn't even want to go to Herbology class, but after West gave them a look, they calmed down.
"Thank goodness West is here," Hermione said, "otherwise they'd be in trouble again."
During herbalism class, Ron and Draco kept whispering about the dragon that was about to hatch, which annoyed West and Hermione to no end.
Harry looked at West with a pitiful expression. He had never seen a dragon before.
"Go during the morning break, okay?" West reluctantly conceded.
As soon as the bell rang, the four of them hurried off to Hagrid's cabin. West, worried, followed behind.
When the five people arrived at the cabin, Hagrid's baby dragon had already cracked the eggshell.
With a screeching sound, a small, dark creature emerged, flapping its long, spiky wings and wobbling as it tried to stand up.
"How beautiful!" Draco exclaimed, staring intently at the little dragon. "It's a Norwegian Spinosaurus! I've seen it in books! My goodness! And it's a little girl!"
Harry: "?" After all, the little dragon was just born, and it looked like a wrinkled black umbrella. It was really not pretty. And how did they tell if it was male or female?
All he could see was that Draco was fascinated by dragons.
Hagrid wept with joy, patted the little dragon's head, and took out a handkerchief to wipe away his tears.
Most people were quite happy, except Hermione, who looked a little worried, while West leaned to one side indifferently.
Dumbledore would find out sooner or later; he wanted to protect Hagrid, and he would definitely arrange for the dragon to be sent away. West wasn't worried about anything.
In just one week, the little dragon grew to three times its original size, which made even Draco, who loved dragons the most, start to worry.
In the following days, the four of them frequently went to see the dragon and tried to persuade Hagrid to send her away.
West didn't go with them.
Professor Snape recently felt he had a lot of free time, so he assigned a few more potion essays.
As West scribbled furiously in the cellar, he sighed, thinking that he would learn in a year what everyone had learned in seven years about potions.
Thanks to the memories in his mind, potion-making was not difficult for him; in fact, he could say he was quite adept at it.
When his fingers touched the edge of the mortar, when he stirred the potion, certain strange yet familiar muscle memories would naturally awaken, as if a pair of transparent hands were guiding him.
After that day, Snape never asked him about the antidote formula again, perhaps assuming it was a formula left to West by Lily or Potter.
To avoid causing too much trouble, West did not provide any other prescriptions.
Once their souls merge—perhaps he'll be able to find out where these memories came from. West thought.
Several days later, Harry told West that they had persuaded Hagrid to give the dragon away on Saturday, and that Charlie Weasley would be happy to adopt it.
Because the invisibility cloak had limited capacity, it was ultimately decided that Harry and Draco would deliver the dragon to the tower.
Actually, it would have been more convenient for Harry and Ron to send the dragon away, but Draco was too reluctant to part with the dragon and secretly cried several times.
Every night, West watched as Harry used his invisibility cloak to send Draco, whose eyes were red, back to the Slytherin common room.
Harry was still quietly comforting Draco outside the Slytherin common room, which attracted the curious glances of a passing snake.
Since the twin brothers West and Harry were placed in the Slytherin and Gryffindor houses, and West and Draco, the leaders of the lower grades, often associated with Gryffindor, the relationship between the lower-grade Slytherins and Gryffindors was not bad.
However, seeing this scene still made West's eyes twitch wildly.
Why is Harry being so nice to Draco? He's almost as nice as his brother.
