Even at the very beginning, when our communications were lost and our heavy firepower was destroyed, I still thought that at worst we could just outnumber the opposing force, engage in a chaotic battle, and win the exercise.

I was wrong, terribly wrong.

As Lieutenant Colonel Yuan just said, their plan was very simple, but it was this simple plan that completely defeated my 77th Regiment and also woke me up.

I understand now that we lost this exercise not because our soldiers didn't fight hard enough, nor because our fighting spirit wasn't tough enough.
