Aren't we friends? Why are you rushing at me?

Chapter 21 Wow!! So many people!

Two days in a row were peaceful – I'd have a bite of Aunt Su's cooking in the morning, slack off at work until late, have another meal of Aunt Su's cooking when I got home, and then go to sleep.

On the night of the race, Lin Shi visited Aunt Su's house again.

There was a gentle knock on the door, which Aunt Su opened instantly, smiling as she pulled Lin Shi into the house:

"You've finally arrived."

Upon entering the living room, one could see Ye Cheng sitting on the sofa, watching various racing videos and constantly reading the comments section to learn about the rules of different racing competitions.

Upon hearing the sound, Ye Chengteng stood up abruptly, her eyes shining as she looked at Lin Shi:

"Brother Lin, are we about to set off?"

"Hurry up and take her away," Aunt Su said, arms crossed, smiling at Ye Cheng. She then turned to Lin Shi and said, "Ever since you made that phone call, she's been watching those competition videos every day, practically obsessed. She just asked if you were here yet, and I said I'd go check at the entrance, and you just happened to arrive."

"No way!" Ye Cheng quickly ran behind Aunt Su and hugged her, not wanting her to continue talking.

After a few days of getting to know each other, the two became incredibly close, like a biological mother and daughter.

Lin Shi couldn't help but laugh out loud at their interaction.

"Okay, we can set off now."

Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he looked at Aunt Su:

"Aunt Su, your daughter, would you like to come along?"

As a nanny, Aunt Su spends more time communicating with Lin Shi every day. Her naturally gentle personality makes her hard not to like.

Lin Shi naturally wanted to treat her better. He wondered if her daughter wanted to go. If she did, he couldn't just take Ye Cheng with him.

Aunt Su pursed her lips, pointed to the room inside, and gently shook her head:

"You mean Su Xin? Forget it, she doesn't really like that kind of atmosphere." Saying that, she made way for the two of them to pass through: "You guys go have fun, but be careful."

Lin Shi nodded and didn't ask again. He felt that Aunt Su's daughter was probably the gentle type, and didn't seem like the type to like racing. Asking again would only be a burden.

"Then we'll be going now."

He waved goodbye to Aunt Su.

Ye Cheng was still very excited. She dashed out of the room and waved wildly into the room.

"Aunt Su, I'm leaving now~"

They even deliberately drew out the sound, making it seem like they were leaving for a long time, and urged people to say how reluctant they were to leave.

Seeing Ye Cheng's actions, Aunt Su's smile widened, and she imitated Ye Cheng, raising her hand above her head and waving it, though not as vigorously.

"I know, come back soon~~"

After saying goodbye to Aunt Su, the two got into the car and drove towards the racetrack.

Throughout the journey, Ye Cheng kept asking Lin Shi questions with curiosity, her eyes sparkling as if they held a few stars:

"Brother Lin, where are we going?"

"Brother Lin, will there be a lot of people?"

"Brother Lin, Brother Lin, I heard that racing cars are really expensive, is that true?"

Although Lin Shi had never been to a race, his experience as a person in two worlds, combined with his knowledge of racing, meant he knew far more than Ye Cheng, a girl who had only been out of the mountains for a few days.

He kept answering Ye Cheng's questions.

Ye Cheng watched Lin Shi talk on and on, her eyes widening and her lips slightly parted:

"Brother Lin, you're amazing! You know so much!"

[Ye Cheng's favorability towards you has increased by 5 points, currently at 25 points. Please continue your efforts, host.]

As Lin Shi listened to Ye Cheng's constant praise and the system's announcements, the corners of his mouth grew higher and higher.

Yes, keep praising me, young lady.

I really love listening to this.

The two of them, bickering and teasing each other, arrived at the legendary Mount Akina.

Unlike the last time I accompanied Natsuno here:

The racing garage, which had previously seemed almost swallowed by the night, was now brightly lit, radiating light. Several huge incandescent bulbs hung outside, illuminating the entire foothills.

Several neon light strips hung from thick ropes suspended in mid-air, enhancing the racing atmosphere. Several large televisions on the wall were broadcasting the track conditions; however, since the race hadn't started yet, there were no cars on the track.

A speaker standing in the corner emitted low, husky electronic music, the volume just right—enough for everyone to hear, but not enough to interfere with conversation.

The number of people in the open space has also changed. Compared to the previous emptiness, it has become somewhat crowded.

Some people, dressed in leather jackets, stood next to motorcycles and race cars, constantly offering their opinions.

Some people, however, were holding champagne and talking to the people next to them, treating the game as a social event.

Ye Cheng looked at the whole scene and got completely excited.

She grabbed Lin Shi's arm and exclaimed, "Wow!!! There are so many people!"

The sound was a bit loud, attracting the attention of many people who then quickly turned away and continued discussing the race.

Even if a woman is incredibly beautiful, you can't have her. But if you work hard, you might be able to buy a low-end version of a racing car.

However, a few guys who came specifically to "hunt for women" took a liking to Ye Cheng and kept coming over to chat her up.

After politely declining the third wave of people who tried to chat him up, Lin Shi looked at Ye Cheng and began to observe the girl carefully.

He wore a newly bought off-white sweatshirt, which clung to him somewhat loosely. His skin wasn't particularly fair, but rather had a healthy tan. He wore a bright smile, revealing two prominent canine teeth, and his eyes were constantly scanning his surroundings.

She's clearly a sunny, cheerful girl, constantly attracting people. Like moths to a flame, she draws people in relentlessly. The sunshine is so lovely.

Lin Shi sighed, then suddenly pulled Ye Cheng close to him, blocking the fourth wave of people trying to pick her up.

"Sorry, I don't add you on WeChat."

The person who was rejected glanced at Lin Shi, nodded, and left without saying anything more.

They were quite polite.

After praising her, Lin Shi turned to look at Ye Cheng, who was still grinning from ear to ear, and shook his head slightly, thinking to himself, "Well, it's not good to be in the sun."

Ye Cheng didn't understand Lin Shi's thoughts, and tilted her head slightly to look at Lin Shi: "What's wrong?"

Lin Shi raised his hand to straighten her little head and patted it gently.

"It's okay, keep watching."

"Uh-huh"

Ye Cheng nodded seriously and continued to observe.

"Old Lin!!!"

A loud voice suddenly rang out, completely disregarding the opinions of others.

Lin Shi knew without even guessing that it was Xia Ye who had seen him. Following the sound, he saw Xia Ye, still dressed in his motorcycle style and wearing Doc Martens, running towards him.

She quickly ran to Lin Shi, grabbed his other free arm, and pulled him inside.

"There are too many people here, let's go to the second floor to talk."
