Chapter 220 The Logic of Robbers
The streets of Kirigakure Village resemble a gray cloth strip soaked in water.
As Qianxuan and his two companions walked on it, their footsteps were swallowed by the thick fog, making them sound somewhat unreal.
The pedestrians on both sides kept their heads down and walked hurriedly. Their eyes met briefly before they looked away immediately, as if looking at each other for even a moment would bring about their death.
The entire village was permeated with a morbid sense of oppression.
"What a lifeless place."
Qianxuan put his hands behind his head, looking around like a rich young master on a country vacation.
There isn't even a takoyaki stall.
Mei Terumi, walking beside him, was practically grinding her teeth to powder.
That bastard, does he even know what he just did?
He trampled on the dignity of a ninja village in the most barbaric way, yet now he has the mind to care whether there are takoyaki here?
Kakuzu followed at the very back, without saying a word.
His cloudy eyes, like a sophisticated instrument, silently scanned everything around him.
He was calculating.
Calculate the number of ninjas in this village, the distribution of the Anbu, and the probability of survival if a conflict breaks out here.
The final conclusion was that if the boss wanted to, he could wipe this place off the map entirely by himself.
This realization brought his heart, which had just been warmed by the saury, back to calm once again.
Working for a boss like this carries extremely high risks, but the potential rewards... seem immeasurable.
"This is the place."
Qian Xuan stopped in front of what looked like the most upscale seafood restaurant, pushed open the door, and went inside.
A few tables of guests were sparsely occupied in the restaurant. When they saw Mei Terumi, they all instinctively stood up and bowed respectfully.
"Terumi Mei-sama."
Mei Terumi simply nodded coldly in response.
She's not in the mood to deal with anyone right now.
Qian Xuan found a seat by the window, picked up the menu, and without even glancing at it, said directly to the owner who had followed him:
"Bring out all the most expensive and best items you have here."
The boss was a shrewd fat man. He glanced at Terumi Mei, then at Chigen, his face beaming with smiles.
"Alright! Please wait a moment, sir!"
Kakuzu silently estimated the price of the meal in his mind.
Then, he decided to record this expense in the "Special Fund for Talent Introduction" of Konoha Village.
"Sit down, why are you all standing?"
Qianxuan pointed to the opposite side.
"My future wife, CFO, please make yourself at home."
Mei Terumi took a deep breath, pulled out a chair, and sat down heavily.
She decided that no matter what this man said or did today, she would remain silent.
Silence is golden.
"What exactly do you want to do?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she wanted to slap herself.
"Let's eat."
Qianxuan looked completely matter-of-fact.
"Now that we've finished discussing business, we should eat something to fill our stomachs, right? People need to eat to survive; you'll get hungry if you skip a meal."
This twisted logic made Mei Terumi feel a throbbing pain in her temples.
Looking at Qian Xuan's harmless face, she suddenly realized that reasoning with this man was countless times more difficult than defeating him.
Soon, one exquisite seafood dish after another was served.
Lobster sashimi, sea urchin rice bowl, grilled abalone... every dish exudes an enticing aroma.
Qianxuan picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of the fattest lobster meat, stuffed it into his mouth, and squinted his eyes happily.
"Hmm, not bad, it tastes better than the grilled meat in Konoha."
He ate with relish, completely ignoring the strange atmosphere at the table.
Mei Terumi didn't touch her chopsticks.
Kakuzu didn't move.
"Eat."
Chigen picked up another piece of sea urchin and placed it in Terumi Mei's bowl.
"Try it, it's good for your skin. Look at you, you've been so irritable lately, you're almost getting pimples."
Mei Terumi looked at the golden sea urchin in the bowl and felt it was like a red-hot iron.
She suddenly raised her head, her emerald green eyes fixed on Qian Xuan.
"Sakuya Chigen, you don't need to pretend here. What do you take Kirigakure for? Your backyard? You think you can come and go as you please, taking whomever you want with you?"
Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried an barely suppressed rage.
"Otherwise what?"
Qianxuan put down his chopsticks, wiped his mouth, looked at her, and asked a question in return.
Mei Terumi choked.
Yes.
if not?
What else could she do?
To resist?
What can we use to resist?
Is the survival of the entire village at stake, betting on whether this man will actually wield that knife?
I know you're not convinced.
Qianxuan's tone was unusually serious.
"You think I'm using robber logic, that I'm being unreasonable."
He paused, then leaned forward slightly.
"Mei Terumi, you need to understand one thing. In this world, might makes right."
"Is your 'blood mist policy' reasonable towards the children who died during their graduation exams?"
"Did you reason with that child named Kimimaro when you annihilated the Kaguya clan?"
"Today, I'm taking them away, giving them a place where they can survive and see the sunlight. I'm doing this to reason with them."
These words left Terumi Mei speechless.
She wanted to argue, but found that she couldn't find any reason to argue at all.
Yes, the Blood Mist Village is, in itself, the most unreasonable place.
This man, however, broke the "reason" here in an even more unreasonable way.
Just then, a commotion broke out at the restaurant entrance.
Several members of the Hidden Mist Guard escorted a few people in.
The leader was a boy carrying a large sword on his back and whose face was wrapped in bandages.
Zabuza Momochi.
His eyes, like those of a wild beast trapped in a cage, were full of violence and untamed spirit.
Behind him was a woman who looked somewhat timid, and a dark-haired boy with delicate features who looked like a girl, clutching the woman's clothes tightly.
The boy's eyes were filled with fear and unease.
Bai, and his mother.
Finally, there was a small, white-haired child with two red dots on his forehead.
Kaguya Kimimaro.
He wasn't restrained; he simply followed quietly behind.
But his dark green eyes were lifeless, devoid of any sign of life.
Qianxuan's gaze swept over the group of people.
"Everyone's here."
He nodded, then pointed to the few empty tables next to him.
"Please sit down, don't be shy, it's just in time for lunch."
The members of the Hidden Mist's ANBU looked at each other, at a loss for what to do.
Zabuza snorted coldly and slammed his executioner's sword into the ground with a muffled thud.
"You are Shuo Ye Qianxuan?"
He raised his chin and looked at Qian Xuan with a scrutinizing gaze.
"So, you're the one who wants to see me?"
"it's me."
Qianxuan picked up the teacup and blew on it to cool it down.
"However, it's not to see you, it's to take you away."
"Take me away?"
Zabuza seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world.
"Why should I? Just because of your face?"
Qianxuan wasn't angry; he just smiled.
"Because I can let you truly live once."
He put down his teacup and turned his gaze to the boy named Bai.
"Your name is Bai, right?"
The boy shuddered and shrank back behind his mother.
"Don't be afraid."
Qianxuan's voice became much gentler.
"I'm not a bad person. I just want to ask you, would you like to go somewhere where no one will treat you like a monster because of your abilities?"
"A place... where your mother can stop living in fear every day and walk openly in the sunlight?"
The woman's body trembled violently, and she looked up at Qian Xuan in disbelief.
For the first time, a glimmer of light appeared in Bai's pure eyes.
Finally, Sengen's gaze fell upon Kimimaro.
"A brat from the Kaguya clan."
Kimimaro's lifeless eyes twitched.
"Do you want to find the meaning of your existence?"
Qian Xuan asked,
"Instead of dying like a stray dog in this village you hate?"
Kimimaro did not answer, but his clenched fists revealed his inner turmoil.
"Hmph, all talk and no action."
Zabuza scoffed disdainfully.
"In the end, don't you just want us to be your Konoha's dogs?"
"To be a dog?"
Qianxuan shook his head.
"No, I want you to be human."
He stood up and walked up to Zabuza.
The distance between the two was less than half a meter.
Zabuza could clearly see his own reflection in the man's calm eyes.
"I'm giving you a choice."
Qianxuan's voice was soft, yet it reached everyone's ears clearly.
"Come with me to Konoha. I will give you a home, the best resources, and a bright future."
"Or, stay here. Continue to be your killing tools, your monsters, your stray dogs in this godforsaken place where the sun never shines."
"Until one day, I was ruthlessly abandoned and killed by this village."
He reached out and patted Zabuza on the shoulder.
"Choose, young man."
In that instant, Zabuza felt that what he was patting on the shoulder was not a hand.
Instead, it was a towering mountain, one that could crush him completely, one he could not resist.
