During the second week that Wen Yubai slept on the floor in Erebus, he noticed that Wen Yubai hadn't been suffering from insomnia and was sleeping quite well, so he let Wen Yubai go back to his own room to sleep.

Sleeping on the floor is nowhere near as comfortable as sleeping in a bed.

Unexpectedly, a few days after Erebus moved away, he began to suffer from insomnia again.

When we met in the morning, his dark circles under his eyes had returned, and he looked tired despite trying to appear energetic.

He would steal glances at Wen Yubai from time to time, his lips moving slightly as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.

Wen Yubai saw this and couldn't help but blame himself in his heart: Had he been too exploitative of Erebus, causing his good brother to be under too much pressure and in poor physical condition?

Thinking that he had almost finished with the introductory class and no longer needed to go to the Magic Association often, Wen Yubai decided to give Erebus a break.

He began, "Do you want to...?"

Upon hearing those three words, Erebus's eyes lit up instantly, his face filled with anticipation.

Although the floor mat was hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, he was willing to continue sleeping there in order to protect the purity of the Holy Son!

The word "want" was almost out of his mouth.

Then he heard what the Holy Son said next.

"...Go back to your apartment to rest? I'll give you a day off, and you'll still get paid as usual. Go and relax."

Erebus abruptly withdrew the word "want," nearly tying his tongue in a knot.

For some reason, a feeling of inexplicable loss and irritability welled up inside me.

He quickly suppressed his unusual emotions and offered a dry explanation:

"No need, Holy Son. I'm just too excited about staying in the temple. Don't worry, I'll adapt quickly."

He then quickly changed the subject, saying he suddenly remembered he had some work to finish, and turned to leave.

Wen Yubai watched Erebus's hurried departure, completely bewildered.

What other work is there? Didn't I finish it all this morning?

But he didn't think much of it, figuring Erebus had probably overlooked something.

The weather was nice today, so he decided to go to the outskirts of the city.

The construction of the prayer altar is nearing completion, with the final set of mechanical structures for the glazed tile exterior wall being tested. If all goes well, it should be completed by the end of December.

The early winter wind carried a chill, seeping into his collar. Wen Yubai pulled his collar tighter and decided to go back to his room to get a coat to put on.

As he walked back to his dormitory, he pondered what the high priest had mentioned last week.

After the project is completed, what will happen to the wealthy people who participated in the work? Will they be allowed to continue participating in new projects, or will there be other arrangements?

He did not approve of starting a new project. The temple's influence had already increased considerably, and even the prayer altar and the book-copying room were profitable. He really dared not build anything else.

But it's even less feasible to ask him to remove the restrictions on wealthy people making pilgrimages.

At least this threshold can deter some wealthy people who want to come. If it were opened up, the high priest would probably have to fill sacks with money at the door.

As Wen Yubai walked, he pondered where to place the person to minimize potential risks.

I almost bumped into someone as I turned the corner.

He stopped in time and took a half step back, but the person in front of him fell down on him.

Wen Yubai reached out to support him, and upon closer inspection, he saw it was Luo Weien. He almost instinctively pushed him away, but the next second he realized something was wrong.

A strong smell of alcohol hit him, and Lovin's face was flushed an unnatural red.

Her icy blue eyes were veiled with a hazy, watery light, her eyelashes half-closed, her beauty almost bewitching, yet carrying a captivating sense of fragility, leaving one unsure where to look.

"Lovien?"

Lovin swayed as if he was about to back away, saying, "I'm fine."

Wen Yubai did not try to stop him; he was eager to get away.

But just as he withdrew his hand, Lovin suddenly fell back, his forehead hitting his shoulder with a muffled groan.

His body was unusually heavy, and the impact made Wen Yubai's body sway.

Then, as if she had no bones, she limply fell into Wen Yubai's arms.

She instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist, as if seeking a point of support.

Wen Yubai really wanted to push the person away and throw them to the ground, but the body in his arms was abnormally hot, and he could feel the burning temperature even through the clothes.

He raised his hand and touched Loven's forehead with the back of his hand.

Does he really have a fever?

Without hesitation, Wen Yubai immediately pulled off the arm wrapped around his body, pulled the man towards him, and helped him to the dormitory.

Even with a fever, Loven was restless, fidgeting and fidgeting the whole way, taking three minutes to walk a distance that should have taken a minute.

After finally getting the person to the dormitory and putting them on the bed, Wen Yubai straightened up, preparing to go find the temple's doctor.

Just as I turned around, I was suddenly pulled back by a strong force around my waist.

He was pulled backward and fell backward, and a pair of arms came around from behind him, encircling him in their arms.

Hot breath sprayed onto Wen Yubai's neck, carrying a rich aroma of wine.

"I feel dizzy and awful..." Loven's voice was muffled behind his shoulder, a muffled murmur.

Wen Yubai was momentarily stunned; he had underestimated the strength a feverish person could muster.

He decided to take Lorvion by surprise and flashed his eyes with light magic.

Lovin instinctively raised his right hand to shield his eyes, but the force loosened. However, sensing the person in his arms trying to escape, he quickly grabbed the other person's wrist with his left hand.

Wen Yubai looked down at him. The person on the bed had bloodshot eyes, slightly parted lips, and was breathing unevenly.

Wen Yubai's face turned cold, and he bluntly asked, "Lovien, are you pretending?"

Lovin's hand, which had been resting on his eyes, shifted slightly. His unfocused gaze strained to concentrate, as if trying to see clearly who was in front of him.

His lips moved, letting out a wronged complaint.

"You slept with him."

Wen Yubai: ?

He was a little confused at first, but Wen Yubai quickly realized who he was talking about.

How can your words be so ambiguous?!

What do you mean by "sleeping together"? You're making it sound like you've actually slept together!

He and Erebus were the purest and most innocent of brothers!

Wen Yubai opened his mouth as if to explain, but then stopped himself from speaking.

What's there to explain? This might be a good opportunity to get rid of Lovin.

So Wen Yubai calmly admitted, "Well, so what's it to you?"

To make Lloyd give up completely, he added, "I can sleep with whoever I want, but I won't sleep with you."

As soon as he finished speaking, the hand gripping his tightened suddenly.

Wen Yubai frowned slightly and tried to pry his fingers open, but unexpectedly, Lovin's hand loosened its grip first.

His hand was released, and Wen Yubai turned and left, leaving behind a sentence.

"I'm going to see a doctor."

Even after the door was closed, Lovin remained in the same position, one hand covering his eyes and the other hanging limply over the edge of the bed.

Her flushed face appeared even more radiant in the dim light.

"Why... do I feel so uncomfortable?"

At first, I just thought it was interesting.

How could Cupid be saddened by a mere mortal?

-

On the other side, Wen Yubai, who had left, had only one thought in his mind:

He wanted to ask the high priest to change his room again.

Fortunately, the temple grounds were large enough and there were plenty of empty rooms.

-

Winter nights fall earlier, and Erebus composed himself and returned to the temple.

"Knock knock".

It was just dinnertime, so he knocked on the door of the Holy Son's bedroom, intending to have dinner with him.

The door was quickly opened, but the person was not the one they were looking for.

Erebus's eyes widened. "What are you doing here?!"

It's not even bedtime yet, is Lovin really this bold now?

Lovin smoothed the strands of hair that had fallen over his shoulder, his posture languid and his face expressionless, but a faint blush remained on his cheeks, revealing an indescribable ambiguity.

"He let me stay."

Click, click.

Erebus seemed to hear something shatter.

Suddenly, I don't feel like eating dinner.
