As everyone knows, apart from luxury goods, magic-related items are the most expensive, not only because of their high production cost, but also because of their high maintenance costs.

Wen Yubai thought, since we're going to improve things, let's go for something big!

Upgrade the entire facilities of the book-copying room into magical equipment!

A temperature-regulating magic circle ensures the room is warm in winter and cool in summer, a sound-absorbing coating isolates external noise, magical lighting fixtures provide even and soft brightness on each desk, and even a few magical green plants in the corners can relieve eye strain...

He told Erebus to go ahead with the design and to make a detailed list of the materials and magical devices needed.

Erebus paused for a moment.

He looked at the Holy Son, and a feeling he couldn't quite describe welled up inside him.

He had never been supported like this before. The Holy Son not only offered verbal support but also gave him wings to fly boldly.

Erebus made a decision: if the Dark Temple refused to accept the Son of Light, he would take him and fly away!

Erebus was immediately invigorated and began designing. In just three days, an astonishing list of modifications was presented to Wen Yubai.

Wen Yubai flipped through it from beginning to end, finding it extremely luxurious and satisfying.

He took the purchase list to the high priest for reimbursement, but he wanted it to be done in installments, as he was afraid it wouldn't be approved all at once.

Ah, if only there were a few more of Erebus's good brothers.

That night, Wen Yubai drifted off to sleep.

The feeling of falling returned, but this time he was greeted not by water, but by clouds.

His body felt like it was sinking into a pile of cotton, with layers of clouds carrying him as he slowly descended.

Before him lay a clear, azure sky, with large swaths of clouds resembling crumpled snowflakes. The sunlight shone on his face, gentle and warm, not glaring.

He landed steadily on a soft patch of grass, without feeling any pain.

Wen Yubai sat up. All he could see was a thin mist, and beneath his feet was a continuous expanse of grass.

He vaguely heard the sound of flowing water, and walked towards the sound, where the mist dissipated on its own.

A man stood by the stream.

The man, dressed in a white robe, stood quietly with his back to him. His white hair cascaded down to his waist, swaying gently in the breeze, the ends tinged with a faint gold.

The man's back view exuded an indescribable etherealness and compassion.

"Who are you?"

Wen Yubai asked in confusion, but the moment he took a step forward, the grass beneath his feet sank down like ripples on water.

"Yu Bai!"

It was that anxious voice calling him again.

The grass beneath his feet turned into a vortex, the soil and blades of grass swirling and swallowing him up, as darkness surged up all around.

Wen Yubai subconsciously reached out and flailed, trying to grab something.

This time, a warm hand grasped his.

A tremendous force violently pulled him upwards out of the darkness, and light surged back into his vision.

Due to inertia, Wen Yubai staggered forward a few steps and crashed straight into a broad and warm embrace.

The other person's chest remained completely still, easily stabilizing him.

Wen Yubai quickly regained his senses and swiftly distanced himself. Just as he was about to apologize, he looked up and met a pair of golden eyes.

Those eyes were devoid of emotion, as vast and clear as the sky, reflecting all things in the world, yet leaving no trace.

What shocked Wen Yubai even more was that, even though the face was right in front of him, a tangible existence, he couldn't remember its specific appearance no matter what he tried.

That face seemed ordinary, yet exquisitely beautiful, but it would immediately become blurry once the gaze was taken away.

It seems that this face itself doesn't belong to the category that ordinary people can remember.

A terrible thought suddenly arose in Wen Yubai's mind.

Could this guy be the God of Light?!

His hand was still being held by the other person. He tentatively pulled away, and the other person obediently let go.

The white-haired man looked at him and continued the conversation that had been left unfinished from the previous one.

"You've seen me."

Wen Yubai was still in shock from guessing his identity and was momentarily stunned.

He simply couldn't understand why this supreme being would be interested in him and appear in his dreams twice.

This is definitely not a good thing.

He didn't want the main characters to pay any extra attention to him.

The white-haired man noticed his stiffness and spoke again.

"What's bothering you, or what do you want?"

Wen Yubai's brain was racing, trying to figure out how to dispel the gods' interest in him.

The fact that the God of Light hasn't revealed his identity means he doesn't want to be recognized. Could I take advantage of that?

Lovin was interested in him because he was cold and unfriendly to Lovin, unlike others.

Since the being in front of him is very likely the God of Light, he absolutely cannot appear too indifferent, lest the God of Light think he is special.

If I just act like those fanatical believers, and add a bit of greed and insatiability, the gods should get annoyed, right?

Humans are bound to be annoyed by greedy takers, and gods are probably no exception.

However, he also had to maintain his aloof persona and couldn't just lie on the ground like a lapdog.

He wanted to project an uncontrollable, almost morbid fervor beneath a cold exterior.

Wen Yubai composed himself and began his performance.

He lowered his head slightly, and when he looked up again, he didn't look directly at the person in front of him, but at the sun high in the sky, and said in a restrained, stoic tone that was tinged with a kind of morbidity:

"What I want, you can't give me."

"Wealth, status, and immortality mean nothing to me; I only want His grace."

"You don't know, every time I face that statue, I feel like He is looking at me, not in a way that looks down on all living beings, but only at me..."

"I know this is a ridiculous illusion. The God of Light watches over all things; how could he only be looking at me? But I just can't help thinking this way..."

"I want to know where He is looking, what He is thinking, and whose prayers He hears when He looks at me. I want to be one of those He remembers..."

Wen Yubai had almost finished talking until his throat was dry, but the white-haired man still didn't react at all.

Those golden eyes watched him quietly.

Wen Yubai felt a chill run down his spine and continued to escalate his disgust for Him.

"I want the light to watch over me, I want the light to bless me, I want the light to never leave me..."

He became increasingly offensive, resembling a believer consumed by desire, so greedy as to be repulsive.

But in the eyes of the God of Light, the youth's beauty or ugliness made no difference to Him.

The differences in human appearance are like two drops of dew on a blade of grass.

What truly caught His attention was the emotion he tried so hard to conceal, yet which was almost palpable.

Despite not being good at expressing herself, she awkwardly and restrainedly showed her yearning for light.

Like a shy flower, it tries its best to unfold each petal, opening towards the light, and even the slightest trembling of the petals can be clearly seen.

A ripple appeared in his golden eyes.

Was it because I hadn't given enough?
