Why did you provoke me?

Chapter 96 Lu Ying is very tired

After finishing his meal, Jiang Mingfeng went home. Unexpectedly, he ran into Li Yiqing at his doorstep.

"Cousin, what are you doing here?"

"Mingfeng, there's something I need to tell you." Li Yiqing pulled him into the house.

Li Yiqing recounted Chu Jiao's outburst and shared his own speculations. It would be best if this hadn't happened, but if they wanted revenge and wanted to pin this mess on Dali, we should prepare accordingly.

Jiang Mingfeng was completely bewildered. Wasn't this matter already over? Why was it being brought up again?

"Oh, you'd better remind your aunt and uncle about this. Tell them to be prepared; I'm afraid if this mess really gets out, it'll affect them." Li Yiqing patted Jiang Mingfeng on the shoulder. "This is very important. When you go tomorrow, you can tell Yu Meng about it; maybe she has a solution."

"Cousin, Xiao Si'er is just a child, what can she do?"

Li Yiqing wasn't sure either. "Did you see those two girls who came out of her house again? Those two girls seem to have unusual backgrounds; maybe they can be of help."

"I've got it. Cousin, are you going to sleep here tonight?"

"No, I'm going back to the hotel. I'll be leaving with them first thing tomorrow morning, so I won't be coming here anymore," Li Yiqing said as she walked out.

Jiang Mingfeng sat on the sofa in a daze for a long time, glancing at the clock on the wall. Only then did he walk over and call his father, who lived far away in the county town.

"Mingfeng, what's wrong that you're calling so late?" Mr. Jiang asked from the other end of the line.

"There's something small, but before that, I have some good news to tell you." Jiang Mingfeng's tone was cheerful.

"You brat, don't you know what time it is? Tell me what good news you have." Jiang's mother's voice came from the other side.

"Mom, you're here too. The good news I was talking about is Dali. Mom, did you know? Dali became a film maker today, a level two one."

"Oh my, my capable daughter-in-law has become a film maker. Old Jiang, this is great news. Mingfeng, I'm looking for an auspicious date for your wedding. Could you find a suitable opportunity to talk to Dali's parents and ask them if they have any opinions?"

"Mom, my dear mother, you really picked a date!" Jiang Mingfeng's tone became excited. "Mom, we truly are mother and son. I've also been thinking that such a wonderful wife should be brought into our family as soon as possible."

"Mingfeng, be more composed. You're about to get married, why are you still so impulsive?" Although it was a reprimand, you could still tell that Mr. Jiang was also very happy.

Although the mask maker is only at level two, they are extremely rare in the town. To put it simply, the ratio of mask removers to mask makers is roughly 1 in 10,000.

"Alright, Mingfeng, now that you've finished telling us the good news, let's talk about that little thing." Father Jiang didn't believe that his son was calling so late just to tell them this one piece of news.

"Dad, you're amazing. My cousin just brought this news. We don't know if it's true or not yet."

"Yi Qing called you. This child, if there's something wrong, he can just tell me directly," Jiang's mother complained from the side.

"Mom, my cousin came to town on business, and we ran into him at the shop owned by Yu Li." Jiang Mingfeng then relayed Li Yiqing's words to his parents verbatim.

"Dad, do you think my maternal grandfather knows about this too, now that my cousin knows?"

"Mingfeng, didn't he mention what your maternal grandfather said?" Jiang's father asked calmly.

"That's the strange thing. He didn't mention it, and he told me to tell Yu Meng about it," Jiang Mingfeng answered truthfully.

"Alright, we understand. Is there anything else? If not, go to sleep," Jiang's mother said quickly, then hung up the phone.

Jiang Mingfeng stared blankly at the phone that had been hung up. His mother's reaction was a bit off; she seemed angry.

In the county town.

Jiang's mother sat on the bed, fuming.

Jiang's father sighed, "What are you thinking about now? Your health isn't good to begin with, so don't get angry anymore. This hasn't happened yet, has it? We still have plenty of time to work things out."

Tears streamed down Jiang's mother's face. "If he dares to stand idly by and do nothing about this, I will never see him again in my life."

"No, no, he's good to our two children. He's not as heartless as you think," Father Jiang comforted him.

"You don't need to comfort me. What kind of temper does he have? I, as his daughter, know it all too well."

"You know everything, so why are you still angry? Get over it and go to sleep. I'll handle this tomorrow, don't worry, it'll be fine."

Li Yiqing arrived at Secretary Fu's room early in the morning. "Brother Fu, it's best if you don't tell Minister He about Yu Li."

"Mingfeng, we're good brothers. I wouldn't dare cause trouble for a level 5 membrane maker even if I had the biggest guts in the world."

"Thanks, Brother Fu. If you need anything, just let me know."

The two went to Lu Ying's room together and knocked on the door. "Ms. Lu, are you ready? We're about to leave."

"Wait a moment, I'll tidy up," Lu Ying's voice came from inside the room.

The two people outside the door exchanged a glance. Why does that voice sound so tired?

The door opened, and Lu Ying emerged with dark circles under her eyes. "Ms. Lu, were you having a hard time last night?" Secretary Fu asked tentatively.

"It's nothing, maybe I just can't sleep well in a different place." Lu Ying didn't say much more.

"I ordered breakfast in the lobby downstairs. We'll go back to the city after we eat," Li Yiqing said from the side.

While eating breakfast, Li Yiqing noticed that Lu Ying was daydreaming again. But he wisely refrained from asking.

Li Yiqing drove, glancing in the rearview mirror at Lu Ying sitting in the back seat, her eyes fixed on the box in her hand. Then, exhausted, she leaned her head back against the seat and closed her eyes.

Li Yiqing seemed to have guessed something. He had been studying the bead all night, but judging from the current situation, it seemed there was no progress.

Li Yiqing's lips curled slightly. Yu Meng really didn't do anything pointless. Yesterday, she emphasized twice that once the items left this small shop, she would not be responsible for them. It seems she's dug a trap for Butler Lu.

But this Steward Lu seems to be a very shrewd person, so why did he willingly jump down?

How could Li Yiqing understand the impulse and temptation a film maker felt when faced with a new skill? Who hadn't made a small bead before? But the bead in front of her gave her a feeling of helplessness. Lu Ying also thought it was a simple problem. She could just take the bead apart and then put it back together as before.

If it weren't for acquiring this skill, why would she willingly buy something that isn't even top-grade?

But her plan failed. The beads were easy to take apart, but she could never put them back together. Undeterred, she took apart three more beads in a row, but none of them could be restored to their original state.

Lu Ying was exhausted. She hadn't slept all night. Her body was tired, she couldn't figure out the technique for handling the beads, and her mind was exhausted too. All in all, Lu Ying hadn't accomplished anything on this trip and seemed to have been quite discouraged.
